  1. The Desmosedici! Desmo is the term engineers gave the system they employ to close and open the valves. Most motorcycles use spring to close the valves and rockers to open them, at revs higher than 8000 the spring begins to loose its effectiveness so Ducati use rockers not only to open the valve but also to close them http://www.ducatitech.com/info/img/desmo2.jpg Sedici = 16, is the number of valves on their new V-4 motors that develops 200HP. http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/2452/desmosedici1he4.jpg If you want to read all about the $72,000.00 bike check out the link http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/newsandupdates/122_2006_ducati_desmosedici_rr/ By the way Tom Cruise just received delivery of the 1ST one in the USA.
  2. I agree. It seams that some are able to use the old hoses and cable while others have some kind of problems, and that is with either risers or different bars. I think if you are willing to spent the time while inside the fairing snip some of the ties/cableholders and do some rerouting the original stuff can work. But if you are not then there may be a problem withcable binding ect.. I personally what to use the flanders G2 for these reasons: they have the same rise they have a 2" further reach can use original fairing dampers with no modifications only 1/2" wider insignificat 1/4" on each side I can mount original grips with the treaded bushing they have the same knurl space as the Venture bars once install with the longer hoses and cables look as if nothing was ever done
  3. I needed a lift for my project but did not what to dedicate the space in my garage to it. So I bought a Kendon Stand Up lift. http://www.discountramps.com/mcImages/kendon-motorcycle-lift.gif By the way my project is to turn an old Yamaha XS650 into a Bobber.
  4. Yes, I am interested.
  5. As far as the Hanlebars this is what a knowledgeable rider from the Star Touring e-mailed me. Yes, the RSTD handlebars fit without extending any of the hydraulic lines. I changed to the Flanders handlebars with the Road Glide bend. They have further pullback than the RSTD bars, and must have 2" longer hydraulic lines. Handlebars have three measurements, height, width, and pullback, other than the diameter of the bar itself. Stock Venture: Height 6"; width 31"; pullback 14" RSTD: Height 8"; width 33"; pullback 16-1/2" Road Glide bend: Height 6"; width 31.5"; pullback 16" I'm only 5' 8". I did not want the 33" wide handlebar, adding a full inch to each side. It sticks out past the sides of the fairing, putting your hands into the wind. It's also 2 inches higher. Again, that's something I don't need, because of my height. As you can see, the Road Glide bend only adds a 1/4 inch width to each end of the handlebar, but adds two inches of pullback at the same height. Logically, it would seem to me that you could change to either handlebar and reroute the hydraulic lines and it will work fine. I opted to go with stainless braided lines, for the braking performance. Ventures could use much stronger brakes. The electrical wiring has plenty of slack, so you don't need to worry about that. If you know of anyone with a RSTD, try sitting on it. The handlebar was too wide for me. In any case, the bottom line becomes a personal choice. I am going with the Flanders and longer hoses & cable kit.
  6. There are a couple of places but I think BARON has the better price. http://baronscustom.com/images/products/20070111183114.jpg http://baronscustom.com/catalog/display/777/index.html?PHPSESSID=9a6cb3c3f51c9e98a4938b19132eded8
  7. I used to use my Wester boots on my Vulcan with pegs. 9. http://www.helmetshop.com Good luck!
  10. I not familiar with the model you have. I have a Garmin C340 and it can run on battery power for hours. When on the road I turn it on battery power make all of my input and once I turn the key it automatically switches to direct power and charge mode if the battery needs it. When I stop and shut off the bike, the GPS ask if I want to continue on battery by touching the screen otherwise it shuts itself off.
  11. Isn't anyone worried about the weight on the rack plus the trunk and contents being to much for the mounting brakets and lids.
  12. Pick, does't your Venture have a power outlet on the left side of the fairing just under the handlebars? I use a ram mount and plug the car adapter in my power outlet.
  13. I just asked my wife, she says it does. However this is a 3/4 helmet although with a nice size flip up shield it is still open at the bottom. It will not be like wearing a full face.
  14. I agree with Freebird for a 3/4 helmet it would be tough to beat the Nolan N41. My wife loves it. http://www.helmetshop.com/mmHEL/Images/SN41CLASSBLACK.JPG Or the newer model N42 http://www.helmetshop.com/mmHEL/Images/S39-9890.jpg
  15. Freebird could the part # be 650-08763 Part Number Handlebar Description Price Qty Click Here to Order 650-08761 G2: Road Glide® Style Type Bar, Plain Chrome $130.95 650-08762 G2: Road Glide® Style Type Bar, Plain Black $130.95 650-08763 G2: Road Glide® Style Type Bar, Chrome with Metric Knurls (4" in side x 5" out side) $136.95
  16. What I mean when I ask if they line up is, if the knurled (anti-slip diamond cuts) area of the handle bars line up with the risers' caps. The earlier G2 Flander's bars that everyone used on their Ventures, part #650-08761, the knurled areas were much closer together than on the Venture's bars, probably made for Harley. Also, I'd like to know if the rubber dampers that get wedged between the handle bars and the fairing can be used with the Flander's bars.
  17. I am considering the Flanders bars. What part # did you buy? Did the the knurls line up with the risers? Did you need to replace brake hoses and cables?
  18. Why would I want my RSV to look like a Harley? -replace the brake bulb with a Custom Dynamics LED Board for V-Star/Road Star Item: 9011-10 for an LED tail light running and brake -install a Custom Dynamics Dual LED License Plate Frame Classic Chrome Standard Item #: 02028 that also works as running and brake lights -install LED Flashing Motorcycle Brake Lights ELECTRO PODS one on each side of the tail lens they continuously flash when brakes are applied -replace the rear turn signal assembly with original front making them running lights as well as turn signals All of this without changing the look of the bike and not icreasing the draw on the charging system. Now I have all the lights I want and kept the look of my loved Venture not a Harley. http://www.customdynamics.com/index.htm http://www.bikerhiway.com/tail-light-brake-light-products-62/brake-light-flashers-128/add-on-flashing-led-brake-lights-129/led-flashing-motorcycle-brake-lights---red-leds-336.html
  19. wuzfuzz is it possible to get a better picture of that, or a link it looks like a web page?
  20. All of you that have installed the risers, what did you do about the rubber bushing between the handlebars and the fairing?
