On September 1, I enjoyed the company of 300 or so bikers who met up in Puerto Penasco, Mexico for the annual Three Flags Classic Ride! I was the only Royal Star Venture rider and I had lots of fun. I wish I could get more RSV'ers to participate in this ride next year. The document attached has URL's of the many pictures taken by all of the riders. We rode from Mexico, through the United States and ended up in Canada. 3-4 days of riding, depending on your style. Beautiful countryside, great people, and just plain fun times. I have to admit, I had some troubles along the way, primarily a flat tire.....but also, I had to replace a fuel pump too. It was truly my fault. I had purchased a CHEAP unit 2 years prior and it caught up with me on the road. Replaced it with a very nice all electric unit that actually gave me better gas mileage. Stopped at lakes, rivers and more to put my toes in the water! Next year, it will start in Canada and ride to Mexico! I hopped on for a quick ride from North Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Although it was chilly going through the desert, it warmed up in the Los Angeles area. A couple of weeks back, I rode from North Las Vegas to Shoshone and then on to Tecopa to have breakfast. Great spot (they prepare a favorite of mine, salmon and scrambled eggs). Death Valley Brewery was their old name. I need to get some new tires now. After my ride to Mexico/Canada/Vegas, they are about gone. Ordering some Shinko's this time to see if the last longer than the Dunlops.

Drive Shaft Stuck!!

Thanks Earl....I will give that a try. Tried to be gingerly to not cause any other "Force" related issues. This all started innocently when I wanted to place additional lubrication on the shaft. I was assuming that after 64k miles, it probably needed it and most likely had never had it done.

After removing my drive shaft so that I could place lubricant on both ends, I reinserted the shaft and mounted the rear wheel. I felt the clunkiness in the movement of the wheel. I am now attempting to remove the shaft again and it will not dislodge from the rear of the motor. It has been suggested to use a slide hammer, but I fear that this may cause other damage. The shaft will rotate, although it is difficult, but it will not move in or out. I am looking for suggestions.

2007 Royal Star Venture

I have a 2007 RSV. Once when I had the two front lowers removed, I rode down the road and the bike began to stumble, falter and almost shut off. I quickly turned around and attempted to diagnose my perceived "carb" related problem. After several attempts to locate, I simply placed the lowers back on and it ran fine. My point is that the airflow was more direct on the breather when the lowers were removed and this was the cause of the stumble. Getting too much air (or direct air) can cause the issue. -

Just returned from 740 mile ride to and through the Sierras this last weekend. Bike is running like new.....I am revving it up higher, ran 100mph for over an hour through the desert on the way home to Vegas. Several passing of slower car (trains) out on the road, and that was fun! New Dunlops, New Fuel Pump, New Plugs and new filter seems to have made all of the difference. I have not used my choke to start the bike since the fuel pump was added. While the bike good (or so it seemed) before the new fuel pump, I can tell afterwards that the pump was weak. Running at higher speeds was more taxing, whereas now, it is effortless. I can run almost to 100 before I shift to 5th gear. What a ride!

Problem Solved.....Replaced fuel pump and fuel filter. Fuel pump was definitely the issue. It must have been weak for several months. Now, she starts (most of the time without the choke) with the lightest of button touches. My new fuel pump makes an engaging sound in the beginning and that lets me know the pressure is ON! All is good. Now to fix that pesky water hose leak on the radiator. Hose clamp keeps coming loose. I will replace.

I look for original owners, garage kept, service records and overall look of the bike....does it look like it was his/her baby? Miles are less important, but, the more miles the more I would look at the things listed before. -
Barnett Clutch Plate

I placed the Barnett kit on my 2007 RSV when the original started slipping at 53,000. It was easy to do (especially with instructions and videos on YouTube) and it works exactly like it is supposed to. It was also very "Pretty", even though once it is closed up, you will never see it again. -
My 2007 RSV has been having starting issues. When starting, I choke the bike and it usually starts right up. However, within a minute or two it seems to act as if it is not getting fuel and slowly dies. (Yes, I have fuel in the tank). It becomes increasingly difficulty to start to the point where it is just limping before it completely dies. The other night when this happened, I twisted the knob (I believe it controls the idle) and I was able to get it to run. Then rode the bike about two hours. I am not sure the idle knob really has anything to do with it starting. Now when I try to start it is giving me the same symptoms, starts on choke but is struggling to run and then eventually dies. When attempting to give it throttle, it immediately dies. Any suggestions? Also, when changing the left rear spark plug I noticed a metallic tube in the spark plug chamber. Should this have a hose on it? What is that for? Is it in every spark plug chamber? Al

My BlueBird keeps singing and now I have added whitewall tires! I absolutely love the look, and totally enjoy the ride. These Dunlops have given me a better appreciation for turning and leaning. I think my old shoes must have been squaring off, or, these are just so much better.
I bought my bike in May of 2020. I saw it online, flew to Iowa and picked her up. I had my tools with me so on the ride back (headed to Las Vegas) I stopped in Colorado and completed a $800 job. Kept going towards Utah when I got a call to head back and go down to New Mexico for another job. Made another $800! What a wonderful first ride! Rode on to Las Vegas and completed the roughly 1400 miles on a new (2007) RSV.
September 2021, rode with a friend from Las Vegas up through Idaho, Montana, over to Washington, Oregon, California and then back to Las Vegas for a 3,500 mile ride over 6 days. The sites were beautiful and my BlueBird just kept humming. Ran through a new tire, especially with my buddy doing a lot of canyon/mountain carving. Had a great time. These RSV's are meant to be on the road, even at the tender age of 15!
