  1. I don't give a s*** if it's political or not or if someone is offended by this post, tough s***. Anybody that tries to take away or put restrictions on our Veterans is not worthy of calling themselfs an American. Men and Women have given too much to this country to put up with this kind of bull. I am a 28 year vet that uses the VA medical system and the people that work at these facilities are true saints. I will be first in line for the revolution should anyone try to take away or water down any Vets benefits. I still cry everytime I visit the Wall and will never forgive our politicans for what they did to our Vietnam vets. We cannot let that happen to our current Vets coming home from war. Vets do not pick which war they want to go to, they go because they have a higher regard for their country then most politicans do. GOD BLESS ALL OUR VETS George Stacey Star Vet Rep Star 160 Chapter.
  2. Where is Rockwood. The classified search says thye bike id 25 miles from me but I have never heard of Rockwood. Have some friends that might be interested. I am in Washington Court House, Ohio.
  3. I may be able to help you. I take my RSTD in tomorrow for the Hannigan conversion. It may be a couple of weeks before I get it back though. If you still need it ina couple of weeks, let me know and we will work something out.
  4. I just got off the phone with Gary from Dan't Yamaha and I will be takeing my Pearl White RSTD over to him next week for the Hannigan trike cinversion. I'm so excited I can't wait to see it when it's finished. Got to find a name for the new Pearl white trike. Open for suggestions.:happy65:
  5. I got one for my RSTD made at ACE hardware. They have blanks for all makes of motorcycles. I don't think Walmart has them. If you can't find one let me know and i will get one and send it to you.
  6. Posting that photo falls under the cruel and unusual punishment rule for those of us stuck in Ohio for the winter. Very nice photo though.
  7. A cheaper and better way is to go to an IKEA store and buy a full size sheep skin for about $40.00. It fits the seat and passenger cushion prefectly. I put one on my White 06 RSTD and love it.
  8. I got a sheep skin from IKEA and love it. I bought a gromet kit from Walmart amd put a couple of groments in the skin then used a couple of pieces of raw hide lace to secure it to the bike so it dosen't walk away while I'm away from the bike.
  9. I just saw a Venture Royale with New Mexico plates going through downtown Washington Court House, Ohio. The driver was wearing a New Mexico Riders Jacket. If you are a member I just wanted to say Hi and welcome to Ohio. Nice looking Royale.
  10. My 06 was chirping so loud that I had to wear ear plugs. Had the I basket installed under warranty and it is completely gone. Also using syn oil and I thing that helps. I came off a V-star 1100 and this is truly a different beast. Love the bike now that the chirp is gone. If your dealer is not up to speed on the I basket, do a sarch on this forum and get the part number and the service bulletin number from Yamaha and show it to him.
  11. Wife and I just got back from star days and had a ball. The only thing I was disappointed in was the lack of vendors and the band on friday night. The heat was horrible but the roads around Eureak Springs were great. Go on the Star touring and riding web site and file your compliants and suggestion.
  12. Having an RTSD that had the chirp real bad and now dosen't chirp with the new "I" basket, I can tell you there is a real difference between normal engine/gear noise and the dreaded chirp. Mine was so bad that I had made up my mind that if the "I" basket didn't fix it then the bike was gone. I now enjoy the bike like it should be enjoyed. Yamaha should be ashamed of putting out a bike that is otherwise excellent with this know problem. It makes it hard to rib a Harley owner when your bike can be hear chirpping a mile away.
  13. Eddy, did you check to m ake sure it was the "I" basket they installed. I made them show me the new basket before they installed it so i could confirm it was the right one.
  14. Great news, the whine is completely gone and I don't mean my wife. It's soooo nice to just hear the engine/exhaust and not that stupid George Jetson chirp. I did find two small nicks on my right saddle bag that weren't there when I dropped the bike off. I can fix easily with touch up paint. Small price to pay to get rid of the chirp.
  15. Got the new I basket installed today. Raining so I haven't had a chance to see if it made a difference or not. Brought the bike home in the trailer. Just driving into the trailer it sounded quieter. Will know in the morning when I ride it to work.
  16. Have ridden all three roads and agree that the two black hills roads are better for the scenery and the dragon for testing your cornering skills. That being said I still favor the Black Hills for overall rideing pleasure.
  17. Just got back from a week at the Dragon (U.S. 29) and North Carlonia. My buddy had his second Metzler in a one year time frame seperate on him. Thank God it wasn,t while we were on the curves. Took it to the local Yamaha dealer in Waynesville N.C. and they were useless. Wanted to rape him on the price and then said they didn't have time to change it. Brought it home and took it to Clinton County Motorsports, our local Yamaha dealer, and they fixed him up for about $145.00. Almost a $100.00 cheaper. Don't think I will be putting Metzlers on my RTSD any time soon. Also avoid Waynesville Yamaha delear if you are in that area. They had a real give a S--- attitude.
  18. Spent 10 days there last year during Sturigs. Putover 2000 miles on the bike just rideing around the Black Hills. Not a bad road anywhere. Must do's are the wild life loop through Custer State Park, The needles highway, Deadwood, Devils tower and many more. Watch out for Buffalo and Deer, don't want to hit one of those.
  19. Thanks, beautiful animal. I might paint my white RTSD to match him.
  20. Hipshot, is there a web sit where I could more info on this horse? Have a lady at work that is interested. Thanks
  21. Wife and I will be there. Members from our Star 160 chapter wiil be there.
  22. Just after I posted this I found what I was looking for. Sorry but I had a hard time finding it. Thanks.
  23. I have an appointment Monday to take my 06 RTSD in for the clutch whine. I talked to my service manager today and he says he is not aware of the "I" basket. Does anyone remember where the post was that listed the part number for the "I" basket and the phone number for the Yamaha rep. I want to have the part number and phone number with me when I get there because it sounds like I might need to educate my service dept. I'm sure I read a post that had this info. Any help please.
  24. If you go to Diamond R's web site, the do show a pillow top style backrest for the venture.
  25. SaltyDawg, I fully sympatize with you about the Gout probelm. I had such a bad attack two year ago I was in a wheel chair. My doctor at the VA gave me a new drug for it and I haven,t had a problem since. If you want I can get you the name of the drug for you. For anybody that has not had the pleasure of Gout you are lucky. The most painful thing I have ever had. It will bring tears to the eyes of the strongest person.
