  1. sold now.....
  2. I believe that they are 4" round speakers, least that is what I used in my 89 VR fairing. I was able to use some Panasonic speakers for mine that I purchased at Best Buy a few years ago. Rick F.
  3. I had the same problem with mine Motion Pro SyncPro. The issue is they use a grease to help make the seal with the screws in the tubes. I had mine suck the fluid right out of them. Called up Motion Pro to complain and they sent me the fixit kit with grease and new fluid and directions. Give them a call about it and they should send you the kit for free also. If I was to buy another set of sticks, it wouldnt be these again. They worked fine once I fixed them, but I havent used them since last summer so who knows what will happen when I use them again. They one thing I did was to move them to my basement instead of leaving them in the garage over winter, so I hope them helps. Good luck and call Motion Pro about it. Rick F.
  4. Another good tip is to replace the plug wires and caps. I did this on mine and it greatly improved low end response with just the plug wire and cap change. You can order the wire and caps from Dennis Kirk or there is someone on Ebay that sells the wires and caps. The wires are non-resistor wire with the caps being a 5K resistance source. Just another thing to think about. Good Luck Rick F.
  5. Just a thought here.. if the rear seems to be riding stiff, I would check and make sure your rear relay arm is moving freely. I think that the 90 has grease zerks on the rear suspension that might need some grease. Just a thought as I know mine wasnt free when I got it and I ended up taking it apart and greasing everything on the rear. Good luck and enjoy the bike. Rick F.
  6. Go to this link and read up on it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1057&highlight=grease+zerks This is an article in the tech library on how to install the zerks and where to install them at. I did it on mine, so it isnt that hard to do. Good Luck Rick F.
  7. about the only replacement I am aware of is the Progressive shock. They are about $435 US for a replacement one. You can purchase just the spring and replace the original spring with it. I believe that has to be purchased directly from Progressive Springs. Good Luck.. Rick F.
  8. Was just thinking about this and agree that the people in cars are multitasking way too much. Heck I find myself doing it at times even and then stopping it. But when some idiot is doing ~155mph on a motorcycle, nearly 3 times the speed limit, how would someone see him coming. We are talking 227 feet per second here at 155mph. No way could someone be expected to be able to detect that on a public street or highway and comprehend how fast and quick that is to avoid it. While there are plenty of incidents of cager neglect, in this case this is a dumb stupid idiot on a motorcycle giving us all a bad name, IMHO. Thanks.. Rick F.
  9. Here is a Link to a picture of them mounted on a 86 Venture. Hope this helps. http://apps.facebook.com/marketplace/view/-/1780872847/?cat=vehicle%2Fmotorcycle Rick F.
  10. I had the same issue with my 89 VR when I purchased it new. It had been sitting for about 5 years and the bushing were bone dry and not moving. I only had to replace 4 of mine but I did add grease zerks on the swingarm. There was an article on how to do it and I think it is in the tech section for 1st gens. If you cant find it, I think I have a copy of it somewhere on on of my PCs. Also on your parts, try Partshark.com as they have the bushings for $15.41 each. I too was wonder if some metal bushings would work but I never ran with it. I have seen some at hardware and automotive stores but never have check to see if they are the same size or not. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good Luck.. Rick F.
  11. Anyone had any dealings with cyclepartswarehouse.com out of Texas. I was noticing their prices were cheaper on some of the 1st gen items then Flatouts were so I thought I would give them a try. Thanks.. Rick F.
  12. Jeff Bridges is set to play John Wayne's iconic character in 'True Grit'. The 59-year-old actor will portray legendary cowboy Reuben J. 'Rooster' Cogburn in the modern-day remake of the 1969 blockbuster, which is due to be made by renowned filmmakers the Coen brothers. Some how I dont see Jeff Bridges filling the Dukes boots on this one. It is my understanding the story will be from the young girls point of view instead of the Marshals. Rick F.
  13. Looks like I wont be making it either as I have to work Saturday morning. Maybe next time. Thanks. Rick F.
  14. I will do my best to make it there. Rick F.
  15. Right master cylinder controls the right front caliper as you sit on the bike. Depending on the year of your Venture will determine how you bleed the linked brakes. The 86-93 Ventures have a brake bleeder at the triple tree neck. Bleed the rear brake and then bleed the left front caliper and then if you have it, bleed the upper bleeder. You will need to remove the false tank cover to get to it. You can also access the service manuals in the tech area and it talks about the procedure to bleed the brakes. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Rick F.
  16. Jeff, I have a broken reflector off of the trunk that I can look at and see how the best way might be to separate front from the back. I will check it out on Sunday and see what I can figure out. I was able to pick up one of the replacement lite reflectors from Big Bike Parts before they were all gone. I will let you know what I find. Rick F.
  17. I would change them all out to HH. I have a 89 that I rebuilt the stock calipers and master cylinders and changed out all hydraulic line to SS for Buckeye Performance. It has made a big difference on stopping as I can lock up both wheels if I am not careful. Luckily I took the advance safety class after the upgrade and was able to practice my braking under controled conditions and got the feel for what I need to do. Go with HH all around and I think you wont regret it. Rick F.
  18. I had a 1980 Maxim I new in 1980. Was a great bike and I ended putting 24K on it in about 3 years. I even had a 6300 3 week vacation on it out to California from Illinois. I had the Vetter fairing and a rack on it. I will have to find a pic of it loaded and post it here. I would love to have another one, but the other half says one is enough for now and plus I have a storage issue anyway. The only issue I had was the small gas tank made it hard on trips as if I remember right it was only a little over 3 gallons. Enjoy the bike as they are nice ones. Rick F.
  19. It could also be leaking past the seals on the caliper pistons. It would be a high pressure leak and would mean most likely rebuilding the caliper. Just a thought... Rick F.
  20. One thing to check also is the plugwires and caps. When I replaced mine a while back it did alot to help the low end power. Does take that long and is well worth the effort. A carb sync is always good to do also.. Just my 2 cents worth... Rick F.
  21. I call my 89 Venture Royale "The Mistress" cause she is always willing, doesnt complain, etc etc.. Rick F.
  22. Not sure on the year of your Venture but if it is a 86-93 there is a bleeder up near the steering head on the right side as you sit on the bike. This will help to bleed the linked brake system between the left front and rear brake. You should bleed this one last but it will most likely have alot of air there. Once that is done, you should have a better brake feel. Just be sure to keep the rear master cylinder almost full as it doesnt take long to empty it. Dont fill it completely full as it needs to have some room for expansion of the fluid when it gets hot. You can also find the service manual in the tech section and that might assist you in bleeding the brakes also. Good Luck and let us know how it goes..
  23. I was curious, what is the device under the crashbars in the last picture that looks like it run to something on where the chin spoiler would go. It appears to run down below the footboards. Rick F.
  24. Recieved mine today also and yes they both look like new. I plan on installing mine after the riding season. Thanks again Dano for all your work on this. Rick F.
  25. If you are going to remove all the plastic on the bike I would look at having the valves checked as you have most of the work started with just replacing the gaskets. You might as well change out both that way you know both are in good shape and if you have someone checking valve clearances they most likely will put the covers back on for you with the new gaskets. Hope this helps. Rick F.
