Suspension is probably because the circuit card needs to be re-soldered. They are notorious for having cold cracked joints. Even to the naked eye under inspection they can appear to be ok but they in fact are not. If you need help with that let me know.

Well I’m glad this is normal. I’ve been wondering if my pump was on its last leg. I continually get 12-17 clicks always rapid at first then slows down and the last few clicks trickle in. I don’t recall if it does this when restarting it while out on a ride or at the end of the workday but it happens all the time when pulling out of the stable. 87vr.

@cowpuc I’ve honestly never given the slide mount any thought, It’s just right there and works. Also the action is perfectly broken in that when a new mag is loaded it chambers and closes without the need of the slide release. The thing to get used to with the Walther is the paddle trigger guard mag release. It can be cumbersome. But I only carry for personal defense so I don’t carry extra mags anyway. for what you mention about the 1911 and additional action features / grip points this is my other carry. She has many ways to rack, but being a 45 also brings a much heavier spring. Since you made me pull them out and compare I think the thumb action of the safety and mag release on the 1911 is far superior to the Walther design. But again for self defense and not carrying an extra mag I love both.

@cowpuc is that a 9mm? I’ve never liked 9’s as I’ve always found them squirrelly except my buddy has a Beretta Px4 that is solid. Never shot your new baby. For me I’ve got a few but my go to on target most comfortable and ruined most all other grips is my PK380. When I unholster and level I always think “why can’t they all be like this?” I might “Accidentally” buy the wrong ammo if I know what tool I’d like to use it in.

Unfortunately time is against me in building a chest full of only what I need, I’ll never think of it all before the contract runs out and the money is gone. Use or loose situation. Our workload albeit relatively the same weapon system is always changing with one off situations so honestly we never know what we’ll need and figure a way to use what we have. Or bring in tools from home to get the job done. Interestingly I searched for this weeks ago on my laptop with no luck but when I tried again on my phone I found what I was looking for ish. I’m pretty settled in on this set. Set was the key word rather than kit. https://shop.snapon.com/product/US-Set-6/Complete-US-Set-6-(Orange)/9600GSBO

@SpencerPJ the junk is what’s been a bit of a dilemma. Like the drawer full of dead blows. Already have them. Or the full set of metric, useless.

Climate won’t be an issue, we’re in a controlled environment, but FOD would be a deal breaker. Did you have chrome issue under room temp conditions? 20 years ago I fell in love with the craftsman professional series sockets and ratchet. Just got a 3/8 30ish piece set as a gift and that handle is so comfortable.

Lucky for me in this situation tools growing legs isn’t a concern either, we’re a 4 man field crew with a common mindset and goal. When I worked back East years ago and was in charge of tool distribution for around 40 technicians most of which were subs I was advised buy three times what need. One to disappear, one to break, and one to actually do the job. buying a set and building myself is an option but I was hoping for an out the door kit.

Pre loaded with tools?

@SpencerPJ I have a series 1 US general rollaway with top chest my wifey bought me for Christmas a few years back. Absolutely love it. With full ball bearing slides it’s a solid unit.

I’m pretty sure We had torque drivers by Proto, but don’t know if they are one in the same. Like @Freebird said about Teng, never heard of them. I should mention money is not really a concern as this is for professional use not personal. Also no need for any metric tools. has anyone worked with the tool trucks like Snap-on or Matco? Any advice? Do they make up custom kits?

I remember growing up and walking through Sears with my dad and looking at what I remember now as a fully loaded mechanics tool chest. Like a roll away with top chest not a couple hundred piece hand carry. I can’t seem to find anything like that. Maybe it was a dream I had back then. Any ideas?

Happy Birthday!!

Beast idea I’ve seen so far. Looks like it could be blended in and painted seamless. How is it holding up over the years and miles?

Looks purrrdyyy!

What do the stock speakers from a Mk2 look like? Mine sound ok but not great and I’ve been tempted to put a kicker system in but it’s not a priority. Not sure if mine have already been replaced. They have a silver inner cone.

I second this. I know you say you’d rather be riding than wrenching but this is all general maintenance.

I have a 30” inseam 😩 I’ve been tip toe champing and scampering since Y2K. The question I’d ask is if the rear brake stuck before the new tires. The ad says new tires less than 1k miles. Reason being is there is a spacer on the rear axel that is all to commonly put back incorrectly. (I personally know this) also just for you to note while speaking of brakes, the bike has linked brakes from factory.

Have you seen this After Market MK2 Seat?

Looks a lot like my Corbin but some subtle differences in stitching and inverse color. I have the venture line backrest. That bolstered backrest looks tits! -
Downside to buying older bike with low miles?

@cowpuchas a good point on looking for critter nests. I had a few mice make a home out of my air filter one winter. By the grace of god for some reason I looked before sucking those guys into my engine.- 10 replies

What’s your #1 tip for a multi day trip?

All this info is great! Thanks guys. Another thought I’ve had recently and this is for everyday carry as well is a compact umbrella or two. Aside from the obvious rain protection I’m thinking more for use against the sun, especially doing a roadside repair. It’s difficult to do anything with the desert sun beating down on you let alone see through the sweat. -

I have a similar jump pack that I picked up at Costco a few years ago. It’s successfully turned over my Expedition in freezing conditions and actually saved mine and the kids ass when stuck in the left turn lane of a seven lane interchange on an overpass over I15. -

You guys run the cheap shit too right? I’ll pay the extra buck for ethanol free if I have the opportunity. (Too many issues with my F150 and Duc regarding ethanol attacks 😬) I’m pretty positive the manual said 86 min.

What defines good rain gear? I worked in a ski shop for many years so I’m very familiar with Gor-Tex and other proprietary name outerwear. The Key Three; windproof, waterproof, breathable. But I don’t know what to look for from a motorcycle standpoint. First thing that comes to mind is how packable it can be.
