  1. Tried a universal socket thing, and vice grips but the magnesium housing is too soft to get too aggressive.
  2. So I’ve got a drip that has been getting worse. I just don’t know where it’s coming from. The highest wet spot is by the spark plug but seems more wet down below. Main point of drip is the front of the floorboard mount. I don’t think it’s originating from the valve cover gaskets. Got those in order...again.
  3. Ended up with this cause well it was cheap and looks like it’ll do the job. I think anything is better than the sludge currently in there.
  4. Do you know if there is anything newer on the horizon? Also do you know if you can pair more than one Bluetooth at a time? I have an 87 VR and I’m keeping it as original as possible. I’m exploring different methods of modern tech on the old machine. I like listening to music but not through a headset so I’m using a Bluetooth to cassette thing that works well. But I’d like to get the turn by turn or phone calls in the headset.
  5. Happy Easter everyone. Was a good day to shuffle the machines around.
  6. I like what he did with the larger speakers there, doesn’t look too out of place. Another reason I’d like to keep the stock unit is I like the handlebar controls and the kid or wife can mute or seek with the passenger control. the venture audio link that @saddlebum posted looks like a win. Gonna have to read more on it. Not expensive either.
  7. I’m in the same boat. I want to keep it as original as possible with hidden / removable upgrades. I’ve been a fan of kicker since my teens, one of these days I’m gonna take it over to the local stereo dealer and work out a plan. But in the meantime I bought a cassette to Bluetooth thing and it works great. The only problem I have is not being able to skip a song cause my phone is in my pocket. But that’s a user issue not hardware. The SAE is already there from the battery tender. 8. Man you guys are scaring me now. I just put new 777 on last year and that was a pain in the ass and learning curve. The old tires were from 1997 so the stem is at least as old. Wish I had known this then.
  9. What they drilled into me 20some years ago...”speed is safe”. Yes and no that’s for sure. Honestly I think what has me most timid getting used to my 87 at low speed is carbs over fuel injection. It’s mental not mechanical.
  10. Could have been my wife, I told her I wanted one a few months ago. Either way I’d still like to get one.
  11. Glad to hear all is well with yourself and the bike. I’ve often wondered what a tire blowout would feel like and how I’d respond, but unfortunately I’m sure I’d react. Oddly I had a similar blowout situation 15ish years ago coming home from work driving my dads 91 Cheyenne. I was on my way to picking my brother up to head to a musikfest concert when I could tell I lost a lot of air suddenly in the right rear. Pulled over and short on time swapped out the spare and hit the road. The next day I started to inspect the tire for a nail or whatever and couldn’t find anything wrong anywhere, figuring the next step was a soap test when I went to put air in the tire is when I discovered the entire valve stem was gone, just a hole in the rim. Never heard of anything like it till now.
  12. I bought an SAE to USB cord which is versatile and mobile to fit the ride. https://www.google.com/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwiesqrvqLvvAhVDCecKHV72DXMYABAEGgJwdg&ae=2&sig=AOD64_2MFBrrqCxOw23nkiW6HEVMsj8WZw&ctype=5&q=&ved=2ahUKEwjJwaHvqLvvAhXxKX0KHWpvAvEQwg96BAgBEA8&adurl=
  13. They look pretty crispy to me. I can’t recall off the top of my head if I pulled the plugs on mine when I got it.
  14. We’re fortunate now, but Mrs. 47 is coming for us.
  15. Is that the pearl color? I had a 2015 Suburban with metal flake pearl she was gorgeous. Gonna have to google the Mojave trail.
  16. No historic prints you can use? Use a tongue depressor as a backer and rock it around to get and ink print on paper.
  17. Do they need hard prints on the form? You mention a kiosk so can you import digital prints? Mine have been done digitally on glass for the last ten years.
  18. Yes this. What is a hard start?
  19. Also if you head east on I84 to Morgan Ut you can visit the Browning factory outlet store. It’s not very large but you can score some good deals. Kinda like walking through the bargain cave but it’s all browning guns appeal and home goods. https://yelp.to/iiwFhwjsteb
  20. If you’re ever out in Salt Lake aside from the obvious visit to me you should check out the Browning Museum in Ogden about 40 min north of SLC. They have many pieces there that are original prototypes and first run I don’t recall the exact BAR on display if it’s an original or not but they do have the first 1911. https://www.ogdencity.com/1333/Browning-at-its-Core-Ongoing
  21. If I remember the sizes correct if the sizes are off the story is the same. My 91 F150 swallowed up a 7/16 socket that was mine when changing the alternator but spit out a 3/4 x ?? box combination that wasn’t mine when replacing the transmission.
  22. Thought about it, but had a few beers instead and changed the oil in the kids and wife’s cars. Fired up the steel horses for fun and preventative measure.
  23. Lets pause for a moment. The CLASS only comes to life when the key is in the Acc position. Try that first. As far as rework I should correct myself that it’s not likely they were cold joints but are old and tired which is why you don’t see evidence. There is a link somewhere that I couldn’t find. I spent the first 15 years of my career with an iron in my hand and still didn’t see any superficial error, although it was obvious someone before had tried. Correct soldering skills are critical. Having nothing to loose I reflowed every joint on the system and it now works flawless. After fixing the board I also was getting a timeout error so I reworked the compressor with a little pneumatic oil on the rubber bits and it’s all good. as for the desiccant in the dryer. I microwaved it for I wanna remember 10 seconds at a time till the blue came back. I’ve been in this game less than a year so hopefully someone will correct any flaws. This is just my experience.
  24. When I looked at my bike yesterday I remembered this won’t work for me as I have the pillion controls there. But some engineering may be able to relocate those as well.
  25. I carry a chunk of 2x6 in the saddlebag. I have gotten it up on the center with no aid, but after reconstructive knee surgery on my right I’m terrified of effing it up. I’m lucky enough to be walking running and jumping again let alone riding. My knee is worth more than my pride.
