I’m thinking he means he wasn’t intending to apply any brake. As @SpencerPJ said though, if the brakes are still linked both front locking up doesn’t make sense to me. @84VentureMatt how did you get them to release? Did you ride it home? As for brake upgrades R1/6 swaps and delink I’d recommend contacting @skydoc_17

No power.

Does it only loose power after you put a load on it? Like turning the key or does it just go dead when you only attach the cables? Seems like a Amp issue not a Volt issue. Also did it work before? -
Woke up in the middle of the night to what sounded like ice hitting the windows and skylight. When the sun, errr I mean no sun…daylight arrived the streets were a pretty shade of white. 😪

I’m confused, are you saying when you connect the battery cables you loose voltage all together? -
Well it ended up being 55 and sunny today, but still didn’t ride cause we started off the gloomy Christmas morning with opening presents and Irish coffee. Tomorrow is another possibility.

Thanks for the opinions. I bought a Ram stud ball mount because I didn’t like the u-bolt. I think its going to be trial and error for personal preference. Now just roads please clear up! I’m off work until Jan 10, was hoping to get some riding in, but it looks like I’m going to have to wait it out to be safe. I’m new to cold weather riding and excited to test out some new gear.

Merry Christmas all! I’ll be spending a week with my parents and brother, Haven’t seen them in about five years, that was my wife’s gift to me. I’m excited to visit, they aren’t old but 71 and happy to be able to spend time while they still have good health. Back home for a day then off for a retirement party and some quality time with good friends. Hoping to negotiate my final anticipated motorcycle installment too 🏍

Right side just feels more natural in my mind. I’ll be running everything Bluetooth using the GPS as the hub. Phone will provide music and notifications to GPS and GPS will relay to Bluetooth cassette receiver which plays through speakers. My assumption is since the GPS is controlling the music to the speakers it will override when giving directions. I really don’t anticipate touching the GPS while riding much more than skipping songs or checking weather or changing map view. Destination and other settings will be done when stopped. Next to explore is if my phone is smart enough to send calls to my helmet and everything else to GPS.

Any preferences for which side to mount GPS? Obvious in my mind is to not interrupt the throttle hand, however I’m right handed. Is it difficult to reach across your body for controls on the opposite side? I really don’t like the U-Bolt mount it came with but before I buy something else looking for advice. 87VR

Replacement showed up today, earlier than expected. Plugged it in and it the charge screen came to life. Excited to play with it tomorrow -
Garmin Zumo XT and Bluetooth receiver
Pasta Burner replied to lyleh's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
My XT came mostly DOA. New in box but didn’t want to boot up, once I was able to coax it to life the screen flickered rapidly and died after a few setup screens. I’ve read a number of reviews of them showing up broke out of the box. Replacement on the way, had surgery yesterday and was hoping to play with it during recovery. -
I remember one ride I did in October from Tellico Plains to Deals Gap was downright frightening. Rode all day in great fall weather but warm enough in the sunshine to get the leathers, gloves, and helmet sweaty. Came back over the mountain after nightfall, ambient temperature 28 degrees. Sooo cold it was difficult to control my body let alone the bike controls.

Garmin Zumo XT and Bluetooth receiver
Pasta Burner replied to lyleh's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
Just scored a XT for $50 out of pocket between holiday sale and my company Atta’boy points. I’ve been wanting one for a while now and even used one (may have been the 396) riding a friends bike over the summer when visiting out of state. Excited to receive it and see how I can connect it. I’m hoping to do similar and connect to a Bluetooth receiver to play through speakers. VentureFar I personally don’t want music pumped direct into my ears, I find it distracting and would rather hear traffic and engine noise. Intercom is ok, -
I’ve only used my heated grips once and wowww! What do you have going for a seat?

My 87 venture I can’t honestly say how I put the stand down foot position wise but sometimes I get scared it’s leaning wayyy too far, even on level ground. I’ve even had fellow riders think she was gonna fall or I forgot. My Ducati on the other hand is the exact opposite, I hook my toe around the stand and hold it down while I set the bike into position, it’s spring loaded to always be up unless in use. It sits sooo upright if I’m not on the perfect slope she has the potential to fall on her right side. It’s honestly a pain to park at most all events because it’s too finicky to fall in-line with the other bikes.

Clutch slave

I’ve been wondering what that fitting was for -
I don't remember specifics but I can say that my 87 does funny things with the air box off. I agree with you, restricting airflow and increasing rpm does not make sense. I’d start by adjusting the idle screw with the box in place.

Weak fuel pump?
Pasta Burner replied to TTrax's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Change plugs yearly? How often on wires? I’ve been going through my own woes and last I rode her a month ago things were great. I’ve been wanting to get out just haven’t. -
Fuse Box

Thanks @cimmer ! I’ve done business with Earl, great guy! -
@Bubblezdamunky sorry I can’t help you find a set however I have them on my 87 and they are amazing in both warm and cold weather. Mine can be rotated to either block or scoop the wind. I only say this to encourage you to keep on the search, it’s a worthwhile accessory.

Fuse Box
Pasta Burner replied to jdross440's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Somebody made a kit for the blade conversion, but I couldn’t find the thread when I searched a few weeks ago. Any ideas? Thinking about doing this in the cold season. Also want to consolidate all the fuses into one box rather than searching through the wiring harness as @jdross440 just did.
