  1. You can buy them off of the Yamaha site: http://www.yamahapubs.com/html/year.jsp?type=MC
  2. It was a joke.
  3. Which brings to mind another seat problem. Is there anything that can be done to secure a seat screw that's been pushed back up into the seat pan.
  4. Air? Who uses air? I use Helium. Makes the bike far lighter and way easier to handle!!
  5. Did they switch this out? My 99 has 4 pistons on my rear brake caliper!
  6. Okay, for anyone interested in which ColorRite color is which on the Titanium Grey/Marble Silver 99.....this from Steve @ Color Rite: The 5930(Yellowish Gray Metallic #5) is the darker color and the 5418 (Marble Silver) is the lighter silver.
  7. I got into the habit of hitting my turn signal and then hitting it again when I'm about half the distance between when I originally turned it on and when I'm going to make the turn. I like to signal my intent to turn farther away from the actual turn than the turn signal will allow. Also have a tendency to turn it off afterward as well.
  8. Thanks Steve. By Darker, I mean the color that is on the top of the tank, the bottom of the saddle bags and the cowlings on the front.
  9. Yes you have.........very nice Got power outlets to spare!!
  10. Went to the Color-rite page for the 99 Venture and I'm having trouble figuring out which color I need for the darker color on my 99: http://www.colorrite.com/CRPLfactoryColors.php?appID%5B%5D=753&typeID=2&appYear=1999&appManuf=Yamaha&IsStreet=1&IsDirt=&imageField.x=46&imageField.y=8 Now, from the descriptions it looks like the top 2 would be used for the Titanium Grey/Marble Silver and the bottom 2 would be used for the Bordeaux Red/Shimmering Silver. HOWEVER, if you look at the color chips it looks like the top and bottom would be for the Titanium Grey/Marble Silver and the middle 2 would be for the Bordeaux Red/Shimmering Silver.....................So, which is which? Really, neither of the ones for the Titanium Grey/Marble Silver look much like the actual colors Anyone order the, I believe the darker color would be, Titanium Grey....which was that? May have to call Color-rite and see if they know.
  11. How many you got?
  12. Has anyone gotten a Color-rite touch-up paint pen or jar for their bike and how well does the color match? If you got the pen was it fairly easy to use of would you get the jar with a brush next time? Did you end up getting a clear coat to use as well? Thanks
  13. I'm sure you're probably correct. Might find some good info here: http://www.fanagalo.co.za/tech/tech_grades.htm
  14. Just the opposite. Stainless is stronger than regular steel.
  15. Basically, just make sure your SWR is tuned to the lowest point you can get it. The SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) shows the amount of power that is being sent out and how much is being reflected back into the radio. Short of having an electronics degree and getting inside and redesigning things I don't think you can increase the power output. The FCC regulates transmitter power on these units. That being said, there will be someone along in a few minutes who will totally contradict this post so, when that happens, just ignore this post!!
  16. How do you go about getting 491s from them Jerry? They don't have them listed. Who do you have to know?
  17. Well, you're gonna have to find something to do with the fuse box and all the wiring that's in the cowlings.
  18. Seen them, don't know if they work, but there's only 1 light I've ever had a problem with anyway. Now a days they seem to be going with the camera trigger lights anyway......at least on the new ones. They have problems all their own. They suck in snow and fog. Maybe someone else has used one and can comment on the effectiveness of the units.
  19. Wayne, What problem do you keep running into with the pics? Are they too large or something?
  20. Personally, I wouldn't and won't either but I assume that the balance point would be the same with or without some sort of adaptive device on the lift.
  21. Hmmm interesting and a good thing to know. Can you tell a feller where the "center" would be. I guess I'm asking, where would you stick the lift if you want the thing good and balanced.
  22. How do you figure this? The pipes still hang down below the frame on a 1st gen. You've got to have something that goes between the lift and the frame otherwise you're still trying to lift the bike on the pipes.
  23. Or you could always rest the center stand on a 2 X 4 to help straighten it up some first then it will be a little more even and steady when you got to use the jack.
  24. Great!!!! Something else to put on the ol' credit card. I just wanted to see how much it would cost. MOST sites, after you've entered your credit card info, will take you to a confirmation page.....not this one. I now have 4 speed bleeders and the bag and hose combo on the way.......Oh well, c'est la vie
  25. I signed up over on yamaha-motor.com in the "My Star" section. When I put my 99 under the my vehicle section it came up with some interesting documents. One of them what the attached Service Spec. pdf. file. I thought it had some interesting information in it so I thought I'd post it. I think it will be a handy guide for some torquing specs without having to page through the manual. It also has the plug number, some fluid type and capacity info etc. It covers the RSV and the RSTD.
