Don...glad to see you're letting me have Marisa Tomei. I'm assuming that, since you've got her listed second that I have her as my #1 pick all to myself.

Who needs a cassette adapter? Just gotta plug an 1/8" phono plug into the aux input inside the cassette player door and go.

I agree and there is some validity to that. If people have, in the past, abused a certain program and/or taken advantage of the generosity of Harley to a portion of their base. A shame when a few people abuse something and cause a rule like this to be established to prevent that.
-
Was this guy serious? If this is the way Harley works I'd have dropped the pen right then and there!!

Muscles in the shoulders, but that may be because I'm not used to that position yet. Never had a problem with my arms and elbows.

Amen to that!! Now if we can just get the wind to slow down some or stop we'll be sittin' pretty for this weekend.

How about a spot in our user CP like when we added our cell carrier and number. Everyone could just access google earth or something like that, put their address in and get the coordinates that way. Of course this idea would be as good as putting your address in public but would probably not trigger bots or some internet searchers that would trip on an address.

Heard of some people doing that. I, personally, think that electrical tape gets too messy, sticky, when it gets hot or old. Might want to go with heatshrink if you can find any that large. Should serve the same purpose.

I was going to mention the one under the seat as well, but it sounds like he's having problems with the buttons on the audio head and that connector is definitely in the faring. There are 2 similar connectors under the passenger seat that should have the same thing done to them.
-
Does it happen more frequently when cold? Sounds like you may need to take apart and clean the connectors in the faring. The connectors can vibrate loose and make iffy contact and, when it gets cold, they shrink and don't make contact at all. If you do it then clean them and put some dielectric grease on the pins before putting it back together, this will help that. It is still under warranty so you could have the shop do the work instead.

From my understanding they aren't going to even send the cards out until the boxes are in stores. I was told, when I signed up, that they would start sending them out mid to late February. A friend said that he was in Best Buy the other day and they had started carrying the converter boxes so it may just be a matter of time before they start sending them out.

I'd be interested as well. Don't mean to burst a bubble, Freebird, but have you check the legality of doing this? I'd hate to have you go through the trouble of doing this only to have Mamma Yamma come serve you with a cease and desist order.

By this chart the plug is a COLDER plug not a hotter plug. http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/ngkjpg.htm http://www.spark-plugs.co.uk/pages/technical/ngkjpg.htm Sounds like #1 cylinder is getting too much fuel as well. Have you synced the carbs lately? How's it running? Here's an interesting read on spark plug heat ranges: http://www.sparkplugs.com/faqmain.asp Click "Spark plug questions general" then "how do I find a colder or hotter plug?" Then click on "heat range" within the text of the pop up.

Could be as simple as your gas getting stale in that period of time. I say run out that tank of gas, fill it up again and see what happens. Also, how long has it been since you've changed your plugs?

2nd Gen Tape Deck change to CD or MP3
gibvel replied to hilliss's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
No, but there are those who have done an amplifier/equalizer mod. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=6103&highlight=Equalizer -
Are we talking 1st or 2nd gen here? 2nd gen...He'll fit great. May want to put some highway pegs on it but it should be good from the get go. Just tell him to go try one out!

No reason to get snippy (I'm assuming from the last post that you were). I think you're assuming that someone on here would know the answer to any question. With regards to the Rinehart pipes, to be honest, your post was the first I've heard of that brand of pipe. So, either nobody here has had experience with them or the person who may have had experience with them doesn't frequent the forum as much as others of us around here. Not everyone is addicted or visits the site ever day like most of us crazy people around here. As for this post you just posted it yesterday afternoon and you probably did what most of us would have done...got on the internet and found one. The zip in neck liner was something that makes this a little more labor intensive to find so you didn't get responses right away. Maybe the person, or persons who've had experience with zip in neck liners hadn't gotten on. No question is a stupid question! Sometimes, even the wealth of information, held by those on this site, isn't enough to answer all questions though...and you have to be patient and wait for answers. Sorry you didn't get the responses you were looking for to your questions though. Please hang around and keep asking those questions!!

Son in law and I went out for a couple hours yesterday up 34 towards Estes Park. Good thing too, the mountains are getting pounded today and we're supposed to get it sooner or later as well.

I've got synth oil in mine (89 with about the same mileage) and just a word of warning. In the 1st gen. you might run the risk of some leaks popping up if you switch to synth. Mine will drop a drop of oil every month or so so I think mine faired well but just keep it in mind to watch for leaks if you do switch over.

People, please be careful "responding" to these types of email. I, personally, responded to one of those fake Venture ads, just for fun, once and ended up having my account hijacked (used my account for fake selling) and closed until I called ebay and straightened things out. Best thing to do is just ignore the response and send all pertinent information to ebay. Just my
