I agree with BigShell, check the direction of the mic. Also, where do you have the tone control (ring around the IC volume knob) set. If it's all the way counter clockwise this would make it more muffled. Don't know that this could be the problem because you'd definitely hear this in the radio as well. Also, don't know that the mute would affect that but do you have the mute on? Is it possible that the attenuation on the bar mounted control is down too low? Do you have the passenger control box...are all settings and or connections good on that? May try cleaning those connections and maybe a little bit of dielectric grease. Maybe cleaning and putting dielectric grease on all the connections in the radio compartment may help as well. Good luck with this problem. Hope you can solve it. Let us know what finally did the trick.

I was going to mention something about the brake fluid as well. Just a thought.

Beer, [seriousness] Not to Hijack this thread and, heaven forbid, make it less jocular than it is but... How did the color tune go? I understand that it's a real pain to see the color tune but I think that's trying to use it with the tank on. How was it with the tank off? Were you able to see the windows on the plug(s) pretty well? [/seriousness] Resume jocularity!!

I'd be open for a test ride but it would have to be something really, really special to get me past the looks. That being said, there will be those who love, and buy, the thing because of the looks...different strokes....

None of my family rides either. My father is a doctor and threatened that "If any of us got a motorcycle that we'd be cut out of the will". I would love to take my mom for a ride on the bike but, she's over 80 and just had her hip replaced because of a fall so I don't know if she'd even be able to get on. We'll see when they come out in May for my son's graduation. They'll be shocked that I'm riding again... I'm hoping that she'll figure she's old enough so what the heck. Spear: Bet that was a blast taking some time and riding with your brothers. Glad you had fun and had a safe trip!!

That's sooo funny. When my wife and I were coming out of the Sam's club, this sunday, we smelled the baked goods. She said it smelled like Chocolate chip cookies and I said it smelled like Blueberry Muffins. So Muffin man must have been at the Sam's club here on Sunday!!

Need help Lowering the Front end
gibvel replied to wolfman1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Okay, for those of you who have done this mod, how many have gone with the narrower front tire as well? Opinions on the combination. I just realized that the PO of my bike did this very thing and it has the narrower front tire on it as well. Wonder if I should switch back to the regular size tire. I've thought about raising the front end back up and adding the leveling links as well but I'm, kind of, a "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" kinda guy.- 22 replies

The other alternative is to do this (sorry can't post the link but can tell you how to get there) Go to http://www.venturers.org click on Tech Library and pick 2nd generation. click on electrical in the list click on 3rd link down "rebuilding the RSV ignition switch" You'll have to ask for the old switch back. On the other hand, you might print out this how to and ask them to perform this little mod for you. BTW, if you end up doing this mod you might put some dielectric grease on the contacts. This may keep it from happening in the future.

These are the 2 places I go to look for parts: You'll have to fill in the bikes specifics. Look under the a model year your sure they had pillow tops to get the correct number though. Once you enter the make, year, and model of motorcycle it will take you to the fiche page. Use the pull down menu in the upper right corner and go to travel bag 2 and the picture should come up. Just pick out the number that is attached to the backrest (looks kind of funny in the picture because it's facing down like the trunk is open) and then scroll down and find the number. On the motogrid page you'll have to put the item in the cart to find the actual part number, the Mrcycles page has the number right there. Motogrid MRCYCLES Or you could go straight to the Yamaha-motor site and insert the required info: Yamaha parts site

The passenger backrest is in with the trunk on the fiche. It's called "Travel bag 2"

Can't see if because my wonderful company blocks youtube but is this the one where the guy crawls through the store front window?

On the 99 the stock CB antenna will rotate but you have to pull up on the base to get it to come off. The phenolic base (black part) of my CB antenna just fell apart one day so I had to go to something else The connector, however, it crimped onto the wire and cutting the wire is the only way to get either of connectors off of the antenna brackets that screw to the bike. The mod that SaltyDawg gave the link to is the best, easiest, mod out there. It really is straight forward and there should be enough cable on the AM/FM antenna to do the mod without using the long cable that is called for, but check yours first to make sure you won't need the extra cable. Total, the mod cost me, about $5 less, for both antennas and parts, than 1 OEM CB antenna was at the cheapest place I could find it. Lots sturdier than the OEMs as well. Warning though...the modded antennas will not stand up to a garage door coming down, catching it and bending it...Don't ask me how I know...

I'd be inclined to say that the plug under the passenger seat has come loose to a certain extent. The connector on the left of the bike (when sitting on the bike) is the CB the one on the right of the bike is the audio to the rear pod. If that's the case, take the opportunity to clean the pins and put some dielectric grease on them before putting the connector back together. I have started "Locking" my connectors, under the passenger seat with cable ties. I loop one around each end of the connector, not pulling them all the way tight. then I take 2 and put them together and put that through both of the loops and put it together and do the same thing with another 2 so I've got 2 180º around from each other. Then tighten the loops around the ends and then the long ones running the length of the connector and that should hold them together nice and tight.

What is with the sky up there in Canada Brad? Radioactivity or what?

Naw, he wanted to add heated gear so he needed some means of generating the required power for it.

Those were on the Yamaha Motor site, as wall paper at one time. Here's the wallpaper for the 08 Model that you could use to get the size you need. 08 wallpaper

I went and did it!
gibvel replied to jimmydsmith7's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just found out that the PO of my bike did this. Makes the air valves for the forks harder to get to and almost impossible to install the air balancing kit on as they are a lot closer to the handle bars. That's a negative that I found about it. -

What bulb for the headlight
gibvel replied to gibvel's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah, I'll probably go with the PIAA on the scoots I'm keeping. Just wondered if the 9003 would be a direct replacement for the H4. Thanks guys!! Can you believe it. 70º yesterday and now...It's snowing. -
What bulb for the headlight
gibvel replied to gibvel's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Okay, all you wizard guys. Would a 9003 bulb work in the 1st gens as well as an H4. Was thinking about getting a silverstar but they were only in 9003. -
