  1. http://www.seafoamsales.com/products.htm No problems
  2. So then, Steve, what you're saying is that if you've lowered your front or like it without air in the shocks (or both) you should probably get the chrome covers that you see on ebay, JCW, or Cruiser Customizing, right?
  3. I think FLB_78's point was that, to get the 80mph on the Zumo, how fast was the bike speedo reading? It should have been reading close to 85. The cruise won't work at 85+. So, if the bike sees 85 the cruise would cut out regardless of what the Zumo would say. The Speedo healer alters the speed in the bikes electronics and, therefore, allows the cruise to work up to a true 85mph (okay 84) instead of around 80mph. Only problem there is that, if you go down a hill the cruise would probably cut out because of the "slop" in the cruise controls reaction.
  4. I'd say you did the right things and, yeah, it happens sometimes. The Seafoam should help as well. Some have advised using the back of a screwdriver to tap on the bowl and this will help as well.
  5. Yup. The only thing better is if I were down there riding with him!!
  6. I believe the guys already a part of the forum Eck. I think this is the guy that posted about his first Ad-Venture being 1000+ miles. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?threadid=21824
  7. I had a feeling that's what you meant. I read and re-read your post and decided that it didn't say anything about it being the ignition switch. Okay. I think, with the exception of ebay, you're stuck paying Yamaha for that one. May find one on ebay though. BTW you can get them cheaper on-line. Found one for $117 here: http://www.cheapcycleparts.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/Yamaha.aspx Just put the appropriate info in the first page. When the fiche comes up go to electrical 1. Should be part #6 SKU: 4XY-82501-00-00 MAIN SWITCH STEERING LOCK Even cheaper here: http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_section_detail.asp Just so you know, the original bolts that were used are the kind that the head snaps off when they are tightened. If you plan on doing the work yourself the bolt will have to have a slot cut into what's left of the head so you can use a screwdriver on it. You'll either have to reuse those bolts, if you can, buy some new bolts # 7 on the list, or find the appropriate replacement bolts at a hardware store.
  8. I think you mean this: http://www.dyna3000.com/
  9. The 06 emblems were a little on the large, gaudy side and, I think, lots of people took them off for that reason. You might want to look around at the options of all the years of RSV and see which one you like best then you can order them from several places. http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/default.aspx http://www.motogrid.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/2/yamaha.aspx http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_select.asp?vcc=Motorcycles&mfg=Yamaha#SDOWN http://www.flatoutmotorcycles.com/fiche_select.asp Just put in all the info and go to "Fuel Tank" on the pull down at the fiche. It's part number 3. Unfortunately, all the drawings look the same so you'll not be able to see what the part looks like for any given year. That's why I said look around and at some photos on this site. They're roughly $50 to $60 . You might be able to find someone, around here, who took theirs off who'd be willing to sell or give you theirs. Edit! Ooooo I was looking at the prices on some of the newer ones and you don't want to go that route, I think. About $138 or so per emblem for 2006 and up. And I was wrong, on some of the newer ones they actually show the correct emblems.

    Ear Plugs

Hmmmm wasn't really thinking of putting them there!!
  11. My dealer said that they usually don't get the Ventures in till the end of the riding season. Don't know if there's logic to this or if that's when they "get their allotment".
  12. Just did that a month ago myself! She will be missed but I know she'll be ridden more than I have lately.
  13. Hey, it worked!! That's great!
  14. Can't wait for you to do this!! So exciting to get a new ride. Wish I could be motorin' along with you. If you can keep us posted along the way! Have a good time and a safe ride!!
  15. Must be a question of airflow.
  16. Yeah, I saw this in the new Rider Magazine. Thought about you guys in Texas when I saw that.
  17. Because, even if you COULD turn it by hand, you would still have to stop the bike and get off and turn it to reserve because it's in such an awkward place that it would be unsafe to try to turn it to reserve while riding. IMHO
  18. If it's the original windshield do NOT use Rain-X on it. It will make the shield haze up. Get some Plexus.
  19. You might want to go here: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1828 and download the owners manual and/or service manual. You could look through the owners manual ahead of time and become familiar with the radio operations and some of the other things about the bike so you won't be as distracted trying to figure things out as you're riding for the first time.
  20. I did a little over 500 miles getting my 2nd gen home. Could have gone more but 500 is a good 1st ride on the bike. BTW, you don't need the FM transmitter for that MP3 player. There's a Aux. plug in the Cassette compartment. You'll only need a cable with the same kind of stereo plug on both ends. One that fits into the MP3 player and the same kind of plug to fit into the Cassette compartment plug. Then you'll just need to set the stereo to AUX and go.
  21. Yeah, wondered if you had the dial guages and wondered if one of them could be giving the wrong numbers. I'm assuming this isn't the first time you've synced or is it? Johnh is correct. The screw to sync #2 to #1 has to be reached from the right hand side of the bike (Left and right are sitting on the bike as if riding) THROUGH the carbs with a very long phillips screw driver. For syncing #3 to #4 the screw is a phillips on the right hand side of the carbs. To sync #1 & #2 to #3 & #4 the screw is a flat head screw on the left hand side of the carbs just above the choke knob, kind of hidden a bit. As Carl said, the way to tell adjust the #2 cylinder is with the throttle (idle screw). Since these don't have a tach it may be that your throttle is set a little high. Here's a how to by Don with pictures of screw locations. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=258 Sorry if you know how to do this already and this is all redundant to you. Just wanted to cover all the bases and, if these things weren't the problem, maybe someone else can jump in and give there about something else.
  22. What kind of sync tool are you using? Does is seem to be running alright? Wonder if your guage is lying to you, did you switch hoses around?
  23. Once under warranty.
  24. Okay, got my first ride with the new Clearview XXL windshield this morning. Some first impressions. A bit less wind buffeting with the new shield, especially behind trucks. I used to get a slight side to side motion quite a ways back from trucks. That has been lessened and the only real buffeting I got today was from a truck with a bunch of huge, oddly shaped, concrete structures on the back which, I'm sure, didn't do much for air flow behind the truck. Seems like wind behind trucks is about 50% better than it was before. Took the bike for an initial ride around the block at home the other night and, since I didn't have my helmet on, the air flow just "tickled" the hair on top of my head. Noticed that my eyes also didn't tear up due to wind flow. Usually, when I ride the bike around that loop my eyes would always tear up due to wind flow. If I stretch out I can still see over the windshield fairly well. I do have to stretch a bit more with this one but can still see over if necessary. One effect that I did notice, don't know if anyone else has noticed this as well, or not. My chirp seems a slight bit quieter AND the "edge" has been taken off of the sound as well. What I mean by that is, at about 55 in 4th the chirp noise had a high pitch component to it that was, well, just annoying as H.E. double hockey sticks. I would say that component has been squelched very, very much and the overall sound has probably dropped about 20 to 30%. I'm thinking the rake has some affect on the reflection of the noise. Like I said, first impressions of the first highway ride this morning.
