Yeah, but we knew what you meant.

Here's some lowers I found on Cruiser Customizing: Memphis Shades Universal Lowers And the Mounting Hardware: Mounting Hardware Don't know if you already have a windshield or not but, I think, these should work.

Sad that you had to sell her but happy for your new jobs. Hang in there Dan, I know you'll have another one sometime soon!!

Known leaking issues from...

This may sound stupid but, check your oil level. If your oil level is above halfway up the sight glass then it's probably blowing up into the box above the carbs and then comes out the left rear and deposits on the back left cylinder. Check the left rear carb for the same kind of thing. The bike leaning over on the kick stand makes it even worse since all the oil will pool on that side of the bike. These motors hate it when you overfill the crankcase (okay, they don't "hate" it they just spit it right back out). Just fill it halfway and you shouldn't have any problems. -
I'll tell you, it sure does show!! That's one nice, clean, bike!!

Yeah, CB is supposed to be on the left. Yes, it makes a big difference. You will not be able to transmit on the CB and reception may be less than stellar. You can burn out your CB if you try to transmit on the radio antenna because the antenna will reflect the power back to the transmitter and burn it out The antenna has to be tuned not to reflect the power back to the radio (SWR Tuning) Without a doubt they are probably not hooked up correctly to the CB and Radio. However, if you look under the trunk, on the left side of the bike, there should be wires coming from the left side of the black box under the trunk (CB electronics). If those wires go to the side that the radio antenna (the one without the black thing (load) in the middle) is on then it is hooked to the wrong antenna and should not be used until you get the antennas switched and the SWR tuned. The wires that go to the antenna on the right will go under the seat and up to the front faring. You should have your dealer swap them to where they should be. Although I rather doubt the dealer will even bother to, or is set up to, set the SWR.

Now that's just silly!! You'd fall right through a cloud. Gotta agree though, quite the difference from the original seat!!

1st ride with K&N air filters.

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=YA-1399 Part # YA-1399. They do have the RSV listed on the pull down menu under XVZ1300 Royal Star Venture. -
click "forums" at the top. Then go to the forum that it should go in i.e. "Watering hole" "1st Gen. Tech Section" etc. Once in the forum, at the top of the page there is a button that says "New Thread". Click that, put a topic and then type your question.

These things don't transmit super far. I would say a mile or so at best. If you're not around an interstate and on channel 19 then you'll probably not be able to raise anyone. It's also possible you may need fine tune your SWR. This will not effect your receiving but it will effect your transmitting ability. Tip, you'll never get perfect SWR on all channels. You usually have to pick the channels you use most and optimize the SWR for that channel range, usually in the middle somewhere. Is there anyone else around you, who has a bike with a CB that you can use to test yours out? Maybe hit a truck stop and see if you can test it with some of the truckers there.

Crud, it looks as though I forgot the picture that shows the close-up of the CB section and includes that part.

The digital thing, by the vent, is a temp gauge and I'm assuming clock. It's a stick on unit. It also has the trunk reflector replaced with the lighted unit. There are also some small square LED additions under the trunk.

Okay, spoke with the owner, Randy Frank (used to be a member of the Venturers) It's a 93. Randy is the 3rd owner and put about 40,000 miles on it since he's had it (4 years or so) Says the rear tire is new, the brake pads are fairly new always changed oil @ 5,000 with synthetic Valvoline. He want's $4,500 for it. Just throwing this out in case anyone is interested in a first gen in very very nice condition.

Just saw a sweet, sweet, practically showroom 1st gen for sale. Tried to get ahold of the owner for some questions but he didn't answer. I'm guess it to be either a 92 or 93. It may be a 91. The blue is rather blackish from a distance. It's got 65,000 on the clock (don't know if it's 165,000 I was going to ask. I'll post some photos I took but this thing is sweet. the worst thing I could find on it was that, maybe, and I mean maybe, there's some sun fading to the back of the trunk but it's hard to tell. Looks like a brand new Avon Venom on the rear and about 30 to 40% left on the Avon Venom front (can't really judge). I'd be willing to do some leg (seat of the pants) work for someone if they want to pursue this bike. I'll post any other information that I find out from the owner. Guy's name is Randy.

First, I guess it depends on your delivery system. If you have a pressurized tank there's no way you'll be able to put it in the front forks. Max is like 7 psi on those and if you use a pressurized tank, like they use for tires, you're going to blow your seals. Even the rear will fill up fast but I don't think would blow but then they can handle 50 psi too. Why are you thinking of doing this? The only advantage I could see is that it would maintain the pressure between differences in hot an cold weather. The reason they do it in tires is so that 1: The change in pressure between tires when cold and tires when riding will be very minimal and 2: So that the pressure stays more constant as the nitrogen is a larger molecule and doesn't leak through the tire as rapidly. Unlike tires your shocks will not generate heat by friction on the pavement. So I can't really see the practicality in this

I would like to see pictures as well. Also, I'd like to know if they have a screw about 2" from the end of the exhaust. Those look and sound close to what I've got on my bike and I've never been able to identify them.
-
Geeeze, just get a car. What's the point?!?!
-
How about just DON'T TOUCH IT!! I don't think I'd even want them to move the thing.
-
Okay, didn't want this to get into a political debate or any kind of debate, really. Just wanted to know, if they succeed in this will this stuff hurt my 99 RSV and my 01 YZF600R? And where is the line where it will start eating/corroding stuff in the bikes?

Well, I just read that those stupid ethanol producers are petitioning the EPA to up the amount of ethanol at all pumps to 15% So, what do you think? I know the 10% makes for crappy mileage but it seems to be "okay" for the system. Do you think any problems will arise with our bikes if they mandate 15% ethanol?
-
I can understand that!! I'm glad things worked out so well for you and Buddy to be able to make the switch then!! ENJOY!! I know what you mean about the 10 year old platform too. Unfortunately, with times the way they are, I wonder if Yamaha will put much effort into development of a new platform for the Venture at this time. Wonder if they'll drop it for a time till things get better.
-
Okay, Jay, I guess I missed something here. Why are you going to the GW? Congrats on the bike BTW! I'm envious of Buddy though. Nice color. I think, after looking at all the colors for awhile now, the Beach Sand Tan/Raspberry Metallic is probably my favorite color combo. I do, however, like the 09 seashell/raven a lot also.

What year and model bike do you have? On my Venture the ignition key worked for all the locks... That is until the ignition switch went out and was replaced. Now the ignition switch key is a solo and the other key opens everything else. Sounds like your ignition switch may have been replaced also. There is a way around this. Get a key blank and have one side cut from one key and the other side cut from the other key. One key just turn it the appropriate direction for the appropriate lock.
