Okay, so I'll piss him off! We'll see what he says this time.
-
Well, you all can ask more questions, I've had mine. I'd probably just piss him off if I asked anymore of the questions I have in my mind. Hate to see someone get something they didn't expect. I'd like to ask him if he's ever checked his paperwork VIN with the VIN on the bike. It's clearly NOT an 01 and, somewhere along the line something got crossed.
-
Thanks Goose, now I've got THAT to look forward to. I'd be more worried if I put as many miles on the bike, per year, as some of the guys around here.
-
I was the one that questioned him on it. Thing is, with a little research, on some yamaha VIN decode sites, the VIN actually says that it's an 01. His Vin has a 1 in the 10th place (year) as opposed to mine having an X. The letters run through Y being 2000 and then the numbers start for the year. But I put it in this decoder and it throws up an error where mine comes right up as what it is. This may be reason enough to stay away, not that I was looking for another 99.

The one I'm running on the back now is 42 sidewall pressure. Was just in Texas at V7Gooses' place. He was saying that he likes the Dunlop E3 but likes the Avon better save for 1 thing. When an Avon gets down to the wear marks you've only got about 300 or 400 miles, or less, left before cords start to show. There is NO extra rubber on an Avon when they get low. He showed us examples of some of his.

Guy says his paperwork and registration say this bike is a 2001. Correct me if I'm wrong but, isn't this a 1999 color scheme? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2001-Yamaha-Royal-Venture-1300cc-Nice-touring-bike_W0QQitemZ180403323679QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item2a00e0431f&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 The colors and position of the colors on the tank and trunk (light on bottom, Dark on top) seem to say 1999

Should just be dirty connections in the faring. My 99 acted up like this, especially in colder weather as Moped mentioned. Cracked the faring and took all the connectors apart, cleaned the pins dielectric grease and hasn't been a problem, hot or cold, for years. I'd still take it back for service and let them know that, it's been reported on this site, that it's a good bet it's the connectors in the faring being dirty or loose. Unless you really want to try it yourself.

Hmmm when I click on that site it throws up a warning that the site may install malicious software on your computer.

Motorkote comments and tracking??

Cougar, was that Mobile 1 auto oil or the motorcycle specific stuff? I'd love to hear from people who run the Mobile 1 motorcycle specific oil, who use this stuff, and what they've seen. Don't, really, want to have to switch to Amsoil if I don't have to. -
Why don't they just wrap the dad blamed things with something more solid, like a rubber, plastic or aluminum box or panel that would increase the surface area and keep it from having a "slicing" effect.. That way they could still perform about the same way and would, hopefully, protect cyclists. Just a thought.

Pun intended?

Put sharp spikes in the appropriate places on your clothing. A couple squeezes and she'll be cured.

Kent posted 2 of the "bad coil" threads. The other one had more posts. The "other" post

Maybe the clutch material is dramatically different than the metal and it just "knows" not to adhere to anything but metal? -

So you're saying that the Motorkote reduced the volume of your chirp by about 50%? -
Hmmm wonder if you could find someone, with a midnight, that would like to have a 2000 mm that you could work a deal with.

I'm interested as well. Don't know if Cougar or I have the right to claim "noisiest" but I'll give him a run for his money with my chirp. I want to know if it would quiet that and by how much. -
Radiator additives

I believe you get the most temperature drop using plain water. If I remember correctly, if you use it in normal coolant you only get a drop of around 10°. Couldn't find this info. the web page, I remember it from the back of the bottle. -
I've seen more RSVs this year than in the past 3 or 4 years put together.

New to me '06 venture. Oil? Filter?
gibvel replied to Whitetales's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That is the correct number. The Purolator (14612) listed in Ecks list is the shorter, 2.5", one. The 14610 is longer, looks like it won't fit, at first, but it DOES go in! -
Mine wouldn't open, at first, and I just kept pushing it all over until it finally came open. Then I noticed that the screws that held the faceplate onto the frame were loose. Tightened them up and everything was good after that. Might push the face plate up and down to see if that facilitates the door coming open. Don't know if the screws are the problem on the ones that won't shut but it's worth a look see.

I agree with Squid on this one. The Foorboards will NOT help in the comfort area. Highway pegs would be a big help. As for the seat, I know others have raved about what Rick can do with a seat. I had him do my pillow top and it's much better. Can't tell you, for sure, about the 1st gen seat so maybe someone who's had him work his magic with their seat will chime in!!
