Yeah, that's why the ones on my 89 were disconnected. The PO got progressives put in and disabled the system.- 6 replies

Definitely, get a lawyer!! I'm surprised you even let her in the room with you after what she did. Or maybe I should be surprised that she actually got to walk out of the room.

Actually, I may have a pair of them. Don't know about mailing to Canada, however. Did that once and the postal services lost the package for months!!- 6 replies

I found it at Advance auto parts here. I've also seen it at a Yamaha dealer in Denver as well. I'd say just call around to auto parts stores and see if they have it.

I found one in the town where I work. I'm going to give them a call and see what they have to say. Thanks for all the help, guys.

Do you take it in with it still in the bike or do you take it out and take it in? Would this be something that they could do at the auto parts stores or are the tests you're talking about special ones that go above and beyond the tests they perform? It actually is an interstate battery so maybe I'll look for a distributor.

AGM sealed battery.

Okay, I bought my present battery 3/28/08. Since then it has performed flawlessly. About 3 or 4 weeks ago headed down to Denver I had a flat. Had the bike towed to a Yamaha dealer/shop for a new tire. They had the bike for a week and I picked it up the next Saturday. They brought it out to the lot and, after gearing up I got on and tried to start it. It barely started. Rode it about 4 blocks and went into another store, came out and it started a bit better but not stellar. Got it home, put it on the battery minder and it's started well since then. Terminals are tight and clean. This last weekend I did some work and Saturday took it for a little ride and filled the gas. Sunday I put some 44K in the tank, started the bike and let it idle for about 5 min. Started it yesterday morning, seemed normal, and came to work (temp about 34). It sat for about 12 hours and the temp outside never got above 42. Went to leave yesterday and the bike barely turned over again. Finally got it to turn over but had to crank it for awhile and it wasn't spinning as fast as usual. Got home and put it on the minder and it took about 1 to 1.5 hours for the light to start flashing. I believe the charging system is working fine because it charges the battery if I ride it. Could the first discharge event, at the dealer when getting the tire changed, have damaged the battery so now, when cold, it's not cranking as well? The darn thing isn't that old and has been kept on the minder when not in use for extended periods of time. Any thoughts?

Now he never said he was going on the bike, did he?

Found plastic bottles of the stuff available in the Yamaha store I was in this weekend. $26 a bottle, which I'm assuming is the same volume as the cans.

Push both the select and reset buttons till it turns to a clock... To go back push the select button. To set, push and hold select and reset for at least 2 sec. till the hour digit flashes set the hour with the reset button. Hit the select button for the min. digit and use the reset to set the min. digit. Press select to start the clock. page 3-5 of the owners manual.

Have you checked to see if the choke is releasing all the pins when the choke is off? Look at the choke linkage and you'll see how, when you pull out on the knob, the bars slide across and contact brass "enrichment" pins and pull them out. Make sure that the pieces that pull them out let them go all the way back in when you push the choke off. If they don't you can adjust them very easily with some needle nose. They are pretty soft so you don't have to tweak much. Try to get them so they all contact the pins at the same time and release them fully when off. -
You can't say that Brad. The fronts I'm not sure about because I have the narrower front (mine has a 40 psi sidewall) but there are 2 different rear tires. There's the H and the V. The V is a higher speed (160mph) lower weight rated tire. It's max sidewall pressure is 42 psi. The H is lower speed (130mph) Higher load rated and it's sidewall pressure is 50. According to Goose, the H lasts longer than the V as well. That being said, yeah, I agree, I keep the max sidewall pressure in mine as well.

Seriously, it's fall in Colorado. It's been cooler and we've had more moisture this year so I would say, even if it does warm up to an indian summer the highs won't be all that high and the lows will probably still be in the 30s.

Hmmmm for awhile? I could handle for awhile if I could ride all the time! On the other hand, if I just got the new wife then, I, theoretically, shouldn't have to spend any time in the dog house, now should I. Maybe I analyze too much.
-
I've contemplated the same thing but the wife doesn't want to move. Hmmm the term ball and chain has a new meaning now. Maybe it's time for a new wife and a warmer climate.

Copy and past the whole thing. It did the same to me until I copied and pasted it in the address line.
