Easiest way to REMEDY an Oil overfill
gibvel replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Geeeze!! All these nay sayers. I said it could be done on my Saturn and the guys on the Saturn website said it couldn't. I was able to swap out drain plugs and only lost about 1/2 cup of oil. Take the plug out, plug the hole with your finger (gee, there's a novel idea), swap the other plug back in. Sure, my hand got a little messy but hey, that's life. It can be done with the drain plug and I've done it more than once (when the dealer overfilled)... into a tall stadium cup, none the less. Don't take the plug out completely, just tilt to one side, and hold the cup up close. -
And that's why I always tuck my shoe laces into my shoes and don't double knot either.

Is that "Terrifying" or "Terrified" Ducky? He looks, kind of, terrified to me. And who wouldn't be with you driving!!

Yeah, it sounds about right. Most shops will charge you about $80 to $85 an hour shop rate. Many will charge an hour minimum which is a shame considering this job takes you about 15 min. start to finish, if you've done it before. If you're lucky you'll find a shop that will break the time into 1/2 hour increments but not often.

And where do you get them in this quantity and at what cost?

Do you have the rubber and steel plates that go on the holes at the back (toward the back of the bike) of the travel trunk? This was a problem with the first couple years of the Venture and it should have been added in 01, at the latest.

Most Mowers, now a days, have the safety bar that you have to hold down to be able to start the engine and keep it running. Wonder if something like this might figure in to your problem.

Actually, I think the last time I ordered some, I got it straight from Ride-on. I think they have the best price.

Assuming you do not have the Millennium edition. I just go to http://www.partshark.com and put in all the info for OEM parts. Put in the year of the bike and the model then go to "Fender" in the menu. Graphics set is part number 2 GRAPHIC SET, FRONT 4XY-21570-20-00 That part number is for the 2000 non millennium edition. They aren't cheap... $93.81 The Number for the MM edition is GRAPHIC SET, FRONT 4XY-21570-40-00 and the cost is $96.85 Other prices at other vendors $106.91, $109.97 and $125.24 so the Part shark is the best price. The other 3 vendors that I checked had this part listed as a backorder so don't be surprised if it's backordered at every parts dealer and will take a little time to get.

This might help: http://www.iihs.org/laws/HelmetUseCurrent.aspx\ Or here's a pretty one: http://www.fastfreds.com/helmetlawmap.htm

Reach up? Brad, exactly where are you sitting while you're riding?

Dear Confused: Some believes this keeps junk from building up at the lowest portion of the tank and causing problems, if you do have to switch, sucking said junk into the carbs. Others of us are just too lazy to bend down and switch it. It's also possible that some have just gotten used to running on reserve because they used to have a 1st. Gen. where you have to stop and get off the bike to get to the petcock to put it on reserve... assuming they can even turn the bloody thing as hard as most of them turn. As said there is the fuel gauge and the trip gauge that you can use to monitor your gas usage so there really isn't a reason to have a reserve anyway since you can just use those two things. You welcome, Mark

So the power cable doesn't come with the Nuvi? As I get it you just unscrew your mirror, Put the ball mount on the mirror mount and then screw the mirror back into the mirror mount through the Ram mount, correct? That's pretty nifty. I'd be half tempted to do this if the wife wouldn't give me the evil eye.

Now Deb's gotta Sign up on the site too!!

Leave it to Goose to "punch it up" a bit!! Mine works the same as everyone's on reserve... Correctly!!
-
Speaking of "Mounts" what did you use to mount it? Since that would be figured into the total cost of the unit.

Avons Venom X whats the difference between these 2
gibvel replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
H is a lower speed rated but higher weight rated tire. V is a higher speed rated but lower weight rated tire. From what Goose says the H will last quite a bit longer as well.- 5 replies

Yeah, guess I should have said that about measuring with the cap assembled. Guess I gave more information than he needed. Was going into the what to do if you get a bad measurement.

V7Goose knows all about this. Hopefully he'll chime in with his wisdom. I believe that they should read about 10K Ohms. The caps can be unscrewed from the wire and there is a brass screw inside the cap. If you unscrew this there are about 3 pieces inside that. There's a spring, a brass spacer and the resistor. If you do this be careful not to lose any of the parts. The brass spacer is pretty small (some of mine were cracked into smaller pieces and I ended up making some to replace them). My springs were pretty corroded. I took a wire wheel on the dremel tool and cleaned them and the brass screw that holds everything together. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT take anything abrasive to the ends of the resistor to clean them. The coating on the ends of the resistor will come off if you breath on it wrong and then your cap will be useless. The spring goes in first then the brass spacer then the resistor then button it all up with the brass screw. Then you can screw it back into the wire. Like I said, the resistance should be close to 10K Ohm, I believe. I'm not 100% on that but I'm 90% sure that's what it should be. I believe most of mine measured close to 9K when I was doing mine.

I believe it looks that way because of the perspective of the size of the opening in the trees and the size of the pole as well. As you're farther from the Opening in the trees and the pole the building looks larger because those two things are smaller from that distance. As you get closer to the opening and pole their sizes increase which makes the size of the factory decrease. Since the pole and the opening are lots closer, their perspective size increases greatly as you get closer. Since the factory is farther away, it's size will not change much as you get closer to the opening and the pole. It's all relational perspective.

Does this illusion work in Photos or on Video. It would be nice to see it for those of us who can't get up that way.

Actually I think he's taking the comment by someone that there needs to be a Winger section started on this site for those who have "defected". I think he just wants to see if there would be enough interest. Kind of like the "darkside" section that he created.
