Just tell them the battery took a dump. Tell them it was a Harley battery and that if it was a Yuasa that wouldn't have happened.

need to try new clutch basket
gibvel replied to stareied's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I can definitely understand wanting to get the right part right away. I just posted the number that has been put up on the forum by people who actually ordered and got the "I" basket. This is the number that they posted... two different people. I can NOT say for sure if this is the number that will definitely, with-out a doubt, get you the I basket so, better safe than sorry, you might want to wait for someone to come along and say they definitely got the "I" basket when ordering with that part number. However, after looking at the parts list for your bike and a Venture of the same year, the "primary driven gear" listed for your bike and the Venture was 26H-16150-10-00 . So it is a totally different number than the stock part. You may want to start another thread with a more specific title to get the people who have ordered the clutch baskets attention. Something like ""I" clutch basket Number" or something like that. Good luck!! -
One of the big reasons for the Saturn engines to burn oil is that the oil control rings gunk up with carbon and stick in the grooves. The engines were not designed with oil drain back holes in the oil control ring groove which causes the oil to stay in the groove and get baked on. So if it's not the valve guides or the PVC then, most likely, it's the oil control rings. Some people have done Marvel Mystery Oil soaks, some have done, AutoRX treatements, some have used GM top end cleaner and had some success but the majority of people don't have much success with anything but a rebuild and drilling drain back holes in the piston. http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=23 Very good site with lots of people who know what's what. Visit the how to section: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26 For how to do lots of stuff. Richpin is famous for his videos of how to do things.

Makes sense. I guess you really can't test ride them as easily as test driving cars... Stupid dealers!
-
Then why in the world do you keep selling them and getting something else?
-
Yeah, I looked at that one also. I'm thinking it was someone in Texas that had that bike, maybe the Dallas area. If I'm not mistaken it was Short-haul that had it listed in the classifieds. Send him a PM or an email and ask him about it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php?u=8920

Guy hardly presses on the casing of the Yamaha filter but really gets into pressing hard on the other filter (Fram I believe.). He mispronounces Yamaha too. Why did that bother me so much? Reminded me of Christmas when we have baked Yams... Yam a ha.

There's a part out listed on Craigslist in Loveland for an 86. http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/mcy/2256043287.html Don't know what all he has but I could converse with the gentleman and take a look see if there's anything anyone needs.

Good point but I think that's like comparing apples and oranges. While both may have put a lot of time and effort into getting said patches and medals one has gone about it honorably while the other has broken the law and gotten their patches in a dishonorable way. I don't know, maybe they think their way of doing things is honorable but I would think that the majority of this country thinks otherwise. I would bet that the majority of your country thinks the same. I also think that both sides would handle the situations you put forth in 2 different ways. I believe that most of those who served in the military, if confronted with that situation, would act more honorably than beating someone within' an inch of their lives. I kind of doubt the 1% ers would stop at the inch.

Don't assume anything!! Just be forewarned and forearmed if you do. (meaning you may be asked to remove the vest and you probably should). #1 - Okay, don't go lumping all of them together and say all do. There may be some who don't. #2 - I think this thread is starting to get a bit political and it would be a shame to let an informative thread be locked or, worse, deleted because some let their political bent get away from them. Captain joe, you and I think a lot alike but I refused to air my thoughts and make this political... please watch the talk.

Yeah, saw that episode a few years ago. It's one of those things where initially, you're just glancing at the TV then, when you see that, you are glued, to the screen, for the rest of the episode in hopes of seeing it again and confirming that it was actually a VR.

Yes you are and thanks for putting the knowledge in our heads. Totally don't think you are either, my friend. I'll stop there as anything else I have written or would write here, I fear, would push this over the line of a political discussion.

Yes, but freedom of choice for whom? Only the 1%ers? On the other hand, it does sound, from what others here have said, that they are reasonable if you give up your freedom of choice when they ask you. I see that everyone is supposed to respect them but will they respect others? Will they respect my freedom of choice? With all the talk about all the bullying going on in schools, now a days, you'd think that someone would be all over THESE bullies. After all isn't that, really, what they are? Just some thoughts. Not saying that one side is right over the other. I can see both sides of the issue. Not really meant to stir the pot and get folks riled up.

No, the stock windshield has a coating on it that does NOT like Rain-X. The Clearview and F-4 windshields, by nature of the material used, can take Rain-X with no problems. Either way don't use Rain-X if you have the stock shield. You can use Rain-X on Clearview and F-4

Engine whining after oil change

Hey, I was just stating what it says on the bottle. I'm sure if you look at the T6 up there it will say exactly the same thing!! -
Engine whining after oil change
gibvel replied to Sandbagger's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
T6 only comes in 5W-40 -
So, when the temps get into the 40° to 100°F range will you drain the 10W-30 and go to 20W-40? Do you even run 10W-30? Do you just run 10W-40? On the chart in the manual it calls for 10W-30 between 10° and 100°F and 20W-40 between 40° and 120°F. I'm guessing most people run "X"W-40 most of the time. Oh, and the chart say Yamalube first, do you run Yamalube? Well, I guess it does say OR SAE.
-
However that is the COLD viscosity of the oil. If you look at it in that perspective it actually is thinner and flows better at cold temperatures than does 10W... which means it protects better (gets flowing more quickly) on start up than 10W does. If you're looking at a warranty issue, I have no idea if this would void the warranty or not.

Carb Synch with new gauges
gibvel replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gonna have to disagree with you here, Goose. I've got both sets. Set both up with one manifold and a vacuum pump (not talking a mity vac here talking a full fledged electric pump with a bleed valve so I can pull as much or as little vacuum as I need). The gauges were perfect on the pump at the same vacuum that the bike pulls. Synced my carbs with the dial kind (perfectly synced with the gauges) and noticed a bit of vibration when riding. Checked the sync a couple more times on different days... perfect sync. Stuck the Carb tune on there (it showed a bit off) synced the carbs with the carb tune to a very good sync and bingo, the vibration was gone and the bike ran noticeably smoother. I'm just saying!! YMMV. -
Shifter shaft wearing on crankcase?
gibvel replied to Goat Roper's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Geeeze, what year bike and is it under warranty? Cripes, I mean heck, if the bike is old enough to be out of warranty then it probably worth about as much as they want to fix the thing. $6,000 my A**. Be better off buying a used engine with low miles on it and putting it in if that were the case. I'm calling a BS on this dealer as well!! Go somewhere else!! -
Suspension setting Leveling links?
gibvel replied to muaymendez1's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Do you have an owners manual? If not you can go to http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/service/servicehome/home.aspx click on "view owners manuals" on the left. A page asking you to sign up/login will come up but just click "continue to Manuals". Unfortunately they don't have the manual for the 96 but they do for the 98 and I'm pretty sure they probably are the same. When I opened the 98 manual the page on the rear shock (3-13) says... The Standard length (from the center of the nut to the left of the lock/ adjust nut assembly to the lock nut assembly) is. 1.79" Minimum distance is 1.59" (harder) Maximum distance is 1.91" (softer) Turning the adjustment nut up (toward the bike) Increases the spring load and turning it down (toward the ground) decreases the spring load. It would be easier to understand if you have a manual or DL the manual from Yamaha. Hopefully this answers your question and I didn't waste your time with all this...
