Did you get under the trunk and see if all the connectors are still connected? How about the connector under the passengers seat?

If you listen when his wife asks him if he's okay. They hug and then he was explaining what happened (around 10:50 or so on the video). He said that he was in Neutral. No drive to the rear wheel. Thinking that may have had a little to do with it.

Thought the same thing myself. But video has a way of playing tricks as well.

If you know you, someone who, posted in a particular thread, you're looking for, you can do and advanced search with the words in quotes and then fill in the "search by user name" section with the user name. That will narrow the search down quite a bit.

Hard to get into neutral
gibvel replied to golftodd's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
And DON'T get any brake fluid on the paint or plastic. I will eat through the paint and totally destroy the plastic. I always cover paint and plastic with a large trash bag. If you do get some on it, wash it off quickly. Don't pull the handle back without the cover on. It makes it harder to keep filling, but when you actuate the lever it can splash brake fluid up and out of the master cylinder. Just some things I learned the hard way. -
Hard to get into neutral

How long has it been since the oil has been changed. I know mine is harder to get into neutral when the oil gets old. How does the clutch fluid look? Do you have problems shifting other than neutral? May need the clutch bled. -
Crank the handle bars all the way to the left. There's a large brass looking Philips head screw Between the frame and the right fork. You may have to move some wire bundles. If you find the headlight frame and trace to the lower right hand corner you'll find it.

Think the Virago or V-Star would be good for your inseam. They both sit pretty low compared to the Venture. Don't know about the Kawasaki mentioned but the seat height is 26.8" so it sounds good. V-Star 1100 is 27.2" and the Virago 1100 is 28.1"

Just got a 96 Virago 1100. Some things that I noticed, in the short time I've had it and the little bit I've ridden it so far, If you're 6 feet or over you'll probably want to go with highway pegs or forward controls. I've got forward controls I'm going to be putting on mine. On top of that you'll definitely want a windshield. How large depends on what you'll be doing with it. If you'll be riding highway a lot you'll probably want to get a larger one with some lowers. I'm just going for a small one as this will be for around town. Might be able to find a V-Star for about that much. They have boards and forward controls already. If you get one of the 2nd gen Ventures the pegs will be a bit farther forward than, I believe it's, the 85 and older. However, the pegs are right in the way of the oil filter cover bottom bolt. I don't think you can do an oil filter change without taking off the bar the pegs attach to. Two bolts, not a huge deal, but bear that in mind. If there are any more questions you have on the Virago let me know and I'll try to answer them. Brad T's wife used to have an 1100 and a couple other people here have Viragos so maybe others will chime in as well. Another good source: http://viragotechforum.com/index.php Let us know what you end up with.

Dunlop E3s have been getting some good press around here. Metzlers, on the other hand, have been known to throw chunks of rubber for some and not for others. Maybe a crap shoot! Avon has been having issues with sidewall cracking that some here have been told has been fixed. I've had Avon since I've owned the scoot and haven't had any problems with the cracking. Stock Bridgstones are hailed as, pretty much, crap around these parts as far as handling and longevity.

I'm closer. I'll save you a trip Eck and just store it, for him, in my garage!!

What's to worry about? You're tethered all you do is walk around the top on a tether? Even leaning out hands free. I could get into it. Now, for $175, mmmmmm maybe not. If I won it, like the contestants, or as a gift, definitely!!

What is the easiest way to insert a photo in a post?
gibvel replied to Semi-retired's topic in Watering Hole
Oooooops, my mistake, sorry! I'm not sure there's a way other than linking to the picture from another site (hot link). If you can copy the link location (right click "copy link location") then come back and click the "insert image button" at the top of the text screen (the little yellow button with the mountains on it). Then paste the copied link into the pop up box and hit "Ok". Some sites don't like people "Hot Linking" though. -

Should just be able to scroll down while you're replying or typing the message. Below the text window there is a button that says "Manage Attachments". Click that, a new window will pop up, then you can either upload a file from your computer or from a URL. -
Gonna have to disagree with you there Eck. Those 2 things can be changed. Note the flame badge on the side of each saddle bag. It's exactly the same in your photo as well as the Killboy photo. Also the photos you referenced are from 06 so lots of time has passed. Your pictures also don't have a trunk rack but, like I said, those parts can be put on or changed.

Yeah, saw the sticker as well. That's what confirmed if for me.

Thanks Don! I suspected this to be the case, however had no proof, with which to back it up, save the recommendation of the person I talked to.

They actually recommend using the red LEDs under a red lens. I called when was getting the direct replacement bulbs for the 1st gen and they told me to get the red LED bulbs for use under the red lens.
