    Xt 225

Kitty has a 2006 xt225 with almost 16000 miles with no ignition problems. Only problem is sometimes the nuetral lite will not come on, and then you have to hold the clutch in while it warms up. Her's is the dual sport version with electric start and a real charging system. My 2000 xt350 is kick only with an old school magneto and the headlight almost goes out when you stop at a light.
  3. I think it looks great
  4. Looks like I am a day late for Kitty AGAIN
  5. Riding to the event with some other people from Roanoke. Kitty and I hope to be able to say "HI" tomorrow!!!
  6. what they are changing is the width, not the diameter. The stock tire is a 150/80, the narrow (also slightly shorter) tire is a 130/80. Some say the 130 increases slow speed handling, other say the 130 wanders at speed. Just have to try it yourself. If you type "130" into the search there should be plenty for you to read.
  7. All year second gens are all exactly the same. Have an input connection on the face of the tape deck. Takes standard "walkman" mini-plug. The only differences in second gens is the "midnite" and "s" models have chrome forks, and some midnites have a different seat cover with "studs". Only other difference is color.
  8. It is an 84 Mk1. Will the MkII motor work? If it will, we will call the guy tomorrow and try to work something out. Not sure if it is Standard or Royale. I believe standard from the pix.
  9. I run 20 psi on my piggy xl (12" tires) and looked like new after 20,000 miles. Rode like it was not back there. Then one of the "torflex" type axles gave out, and ate up both tires on the 250 mile ride home. Goose, did you notice you answered you own question? The skinny bushtec tires last because they are also large diameter. They actually burn off the same amount (by weight) of rubber
  10. Looking at a first gen for Kitty - has a bad first gear. Have heard of second gear problems, but not first. What is the availabilty and approximate cost of the parts? What else do you have to replace when you take it apart? Thanks
  11. I ran a CT for 4000 miles. Much better straight line traction. Only time I ever pulled the front wheel was with the c/t. Was actually trying to squawl the tires under a bridge for that cool sound, revving and dumping the clutch in second while moving. But the c/t lifted the front wheel instead. It also stopped without near as much lock-up. Scraped the pegs a whole lot more the c/t. My buddy trailing on his FJR, and sometimes on his r6 track bike (is an experienced track rider) stated the bike "squatted" in the turns as the tires flexed more as the lean angle increased. Also, the rear would "step out" if I went over a rough surface in the turn (lots of that on the backroads around here). Went into a bad tank slapping shimmy riding with kitty on the back when I went into a curve hotter than I meant to (was just cruisin, and curve was sharper than appeared) and the rear stepped out. I think I hit the rear brake just as I hit something rough. Luckily came out with only two badly bruised ankles. My track buddy claimed I was must faster when I went back to the m/t. It felt way faster. I also quit coming home with brown stains in my britches. My VOTE is a c/t cannot handle as well as an E3. My OPINION is anyone that thinks a c/t outhandles a m/t does not ride as hard as I do. I still have the c/t mounted on a spare wheel if I decide to go on another cross-country interstate ride, so I cannot say I am anti-c/t. But it is not a does-everything better.
  12. Kitty has a Yammie XT225, and I have a XT350. Not the fastest, but both dependable as a rock and easy to ride. Kitty's 2006 XT225 is a bit more civilized with electric start and full charging system where she has front marker lights and the headlight does not dim at low RPM. The 2000 XT350 is kickstart/magneto, even with a new battery the headlight almost goes out at idle, no front marker lights. The XT's are NOT serious dirt bikes and probably not hold up to lots of jumping and banging off trees. Great dual-purpose though.
  13. I have heard that Marvel Mystery oil is mostly Auto Trans fluid. Check it out, as ATF is 99 cents vs. 4 bucks for marvel mystery oil. I will just buy the seafoam. Only use one can a year.
  14. OutKast is a licensed plumber and builder. The problem with the existing trap is the "drop" after the "p" section creating an "s". Cutting it all off just after it comes thru the joist and replacing with a p-trap is the correct fix. That is legal on a 1-1/5" line up to 6' away from the vented main. The problem that will create is now the lower part of the "p" will be down into the ceiling below. That is probably why the extra drop is there to start with. Remember, all you connections must be permanent type (glued, soldered, or fernco type) UNLESS you have an access panel to get to it later, then you can use slip-fit (tapered washer with slip nut type) S traps are no longer code legal, since the 60's sometime, as it is possible for them to self-siphon themselves dry, allowing sewer gas to escape. Hope this helped.
  15. I have been caught riding b!!!! behind Kitty. That is in-touch with my feminine side as I ever want to be. Anybody calling me "cupcake" better be ready for repercussions.
  16. So will you guys still respect me as a man?

  20. Wow George, pretty soon you will be reduced to riding the rear seat like me!
  21. Our plans as of today, drive from Roanoke to Winchester Thurs nite and stay at the Cove Campground. On Fri Morn, drop in with Riderdukes bunch 11.5 miles north after they get onto 522 (old 522 or Red Oak Ln) coming out of Winchester about 10 am. Camping out at Don's. Thanks for all the offers to meet up. Looking foward to meeting all you guys. Kitty will be with me. She may be double, or maybe on her own 750 Nighthawk. Make sure you ask Kitty about the RatRod Venture kissing the concrete! Later OutKast
  22. Thanks both, but I will have to work all day thurs. Going up Fri am. May be able to catch the Beers if they do not leave out early. But you guys (and anybody else passing by here) are welcome to stay here. Not near as nice as Duke's, no a/c or nice bed, but it is FREE! It would be a little out of the way on a straight I-77 run though. I think my cell is in profile.
  23. Duke. Kitty and I still plan on going, but going up north to meet you guys adds about 3 hours to our total trip. Anybody passing thru closer to Roanoke, Va. Maybe somebody coming up from carolina's on 220 or 77 ?????? We can also put somebody up in Roanoke passing thru. We have extra rooms, but there is not any furniture. Have some air mattress though!! OutKast & Kitty
  24. Hey Duke, Kitty and I looking for a cheap way to go to RT. You got any ideas? Too far to make it from here in one day, and $120 a nite rooms are out of the question on my budget. we got camping gear and ain't afraid to use it!!!! OutKast
