  1. I don't have a trailer. I have a Dodge Magnum RT with a Hemi that I would like to take for a ride too. I was thinking southern Texas might be nice. It could be a last minute thing depending on the weather. I need to fill in some of those white states on my map.
  2. I put a Elite III on my Venture this summer. Looks like it will go 12,000+ miles and I'm happy with that. I'm on my 5th Royal Star, valves, plugs and carb synic at 26,000, oil and filter at ever 5000 miles for me, valvoline 10w40 motorcycle oil. When I got to 50,000 miles on my 1996 Tour Classic I had the stearing bearings greased. They don't need much attention.
  3. I am thinking of driving my car down to the southwestern us around Feb 1st. I would then rent a motorcycle and tour where ever I can ride. Can anyone give me some suggestions. I need to stay out of the mountain passes I would imagine. Phoenix to LA and back ? I just need to get away from snow!!!!!!
  4. I visited Yellowstone in 1989 I think, because I was riding my 1987 Voyager. Anyway it was the year after the big fire. When my wife and I got to the motel that night we noticed we smelled like smoke from just being in the park. Yes a lot of the park was destroyed. I was wondering how it looks today as I have been out west several times since, but have not gone to Yellowstone. We ride to the Black Hills every couple of years, the riding around Deadwood is not as beautiful as the Rockies, but its pretty and Deadwood is a fun town to stay in and only 900 miles from where I live. I have stayed in Cody and it is a beautiful area. The highway from Cody into the east entrance of Yellowstone has been called one of the most scenic roads in america. And I never go to the Black Hills during the Harley party in August, too many people spoils the area.
  5. Rick, are you talking about a Road Star or the Silverado S ? I have a 2005 Road Star Midnight Silverado that my wife rides, but I spend a lot of time on it. It's a great bike.
  6. Ron, go farther north if you go out west. Like Deadwood, the riding around the Black Hills is great. The Rocky Mountain Park, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons/Jackson Hole, the Dodge City area is just kind of boring. No offense intended for our fellow riders from that area:witch_brew:.
  7. I was on the return leg of a trip to Colorado from Wisconsin around 1990 when I stayed at the Dodge House in Dodge City. I remember coming into Dodge City from the west on US 50, the tempature was over 100, I could smell the slaughter houses for miles. Wasn't much to do there then. All I remember is the smell.
  8. I have a question for anybody that has bought a 2009 Venture. As I understand it the 2009 price includes the CD player, but they have to order it and install it, ( at no charge ). If you don't want it will they reduce the price? The only way to really know is ask after a firm deal has been made.
  9. Kevin, you can buy a Yamaha CD Changer from South Seattle for $458.96. Correct me if I'm wrong but, the cable hookup required that comes with thiers is pre installed in your bike? I believe you can buy the same CD Changer direct from the manufacture for a lot less.
  10. Ball Milled Passenger Backing Plates, Trunk Rack, Master Cylinder Covers, Oil Filler Cap, Banjo Joint Covers, Rear Brake Reservior Cover, Studded Tank Strap, and Kuryakyn Choke Knob are the necessities. I also put on the Saddlebag Rails and the Front Fender Rails put I have second thoughts about them. The Chrome Tank Cover by Kuryakyn scatches too easily. I put the Passing Lights on my 1999 Venture, but not on my 2004 or 2007.
  11. A 1968 Suzuki X6 Hustler purchased new that year. Then a 1966 BSA 650 Lighting, 1972 Suzuki GT750, 1972 Norton 750, 1974 Honda 750, 1975 Norton 850, and the list goes on. 28 total.
  12. I got 8000 miles out of my stock Bridgestone on my 2007 Venture. I put on an Elite III and I'm at 5000 miles with about 40% worn off.
  13. I had a 2006 Vulcan 2000 Classic LT that ate tires like your Roadliner. My 2007 Venture is a great ride, you won't regret the move. Although I still have a Roadstar and a Bonneville to ride too. How many miles did you get out of back tire on the Roadliner?
  14. Ken, Road Tests are an opinion of that tester or testers. If you look at other tests with taller or shorter riders you will get differant opinions on comfort etc. I have read more than one test where the new Harley engine was dyno'd. The new motor makes less horsepower than the last one. I would think the power they were refering to was roll on at low speed. When both bikes are at full trottle I have know doubt the Tour Deluxe will pull away. My Ventuer will pull away from Electra Glides because of its 20 HP advantage every time.
  15. I have a new stock windshield that I took off my 2007 Venture when I bought it. I put on a 4" lower Show Chrome. What's it worth?
  16. I have been using Valvoline 10w40 motorcycle oil in the 2007 Venture. Yamaha 20w40 in my 2005 Road Star. So now its Valvoline in both. Freebird is correct in my humble opinion, motorcycle oil does contain better additives than car oil thanks to our always helping federal government. My 2003 Triumph Bonneville T100 needs 10w50 so I use Yamaha Semi Synthetic in that.

I think they already did drop the name Royal Star Venture. The Venture is listed under Royal Star on the web site, but I don't see it anywhere on my 2007. It was on my 1999 and 2004, I believe on the tank badge. Most dealers I talk to don't want anymore Stratoliners do to slow sales. So maybe the 2009 Venture will replace the Royal Star Venture and Stratoliner. You have seen their ads for a Stratoliner with the Corbin fairing/bags.
  18. My stock rear Bridgestone is almost to the wear bars at 6000 miles on my 07 Venture. Maybe I drive to hard.
  19. Who is the oldest biker here? When will you stop riding? I'm a young 56 with 40 years of riding, no end in sight.
  20. All Royal Star engines use 87 octane. The 91 reading you see is how they rate them in Europe I believe.
  21. Spud, I see your Venture is a trike conversion. I suspect your many problems you are having could be due to a poor conversion effort.
  22. I'm on my 5th Royal Star, (3rd Royal Star Venture), over 160,000 total trouble free miles. Nobody makes a better bike, I know I've had 28 total bikes, 7 differant brands, including 2 1500 Wings. No offense Brake Pad, but are you sure thats not a Harley you've got?
  23. I put the Route 66 tires on a Royal Star several years ago. The mileage wasn't very good. I went back to Dunlops.
  24. Roadie, I had a 1996 Royal Star Tour Classic. It was a great bike, blue/white with lots of extras. I saw a 1998 Tour Classic in green/white at the dealer when they came out, it had those bags on it, and they were very nice looking. I ended up trading for a 1999 Venture when they came out. Your're right, they would look great on a Road Star. Good luck, I've never seen those at any dealers, and I stop at a lot of them. Still see the earlier Tour Classic Sudded Bags sometimes.
  25. I know one differance. They charge $2.00+ more for the 5GH. The Yamaha filters have a heavier case and spin on portion than a lot of the after markets. I don't know about the insides.
