LED signals fast flash.
AmnChode replied to hig4s's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've though about picking this up: Smart Flash II No load Self Canceling turn signal madule replacement....have all the benefits of LED lighting AND keep my self canceling signals.....just don't like the $90 price tag... hehehe -
From my understanding, c/t on the front is where it would get alot more dicey on the handling/safety. Mainly because most of our steering and control is handle by the front. It is what induces the lean of the bike, where the rear is just following, so to speak. So, having it flat up front might not be a good idea. But being that the front last relatively long, in comparison to a normal m/c rear, no big loss....

I know when my clutch was slipping, I replaced the spring with one from PCW Racing and it fixed it rather well. Of course, I also went in a replaced all the discs and changed out the half disc for a full....hooks up quite nicely now

Correction to my last post...I am no longer eye-balling....I just picked up a Shark Evoline (in the Absolute color scheme). Local dealer e-mailed me a 1 day only - 50% of any in-stock parts or accessory, so I accessorized me a new helmet. Made it out the door for ~$245. Nice helmet if you ask me, and that is coming from a guy who does not really like full face helmets. WebBikeWorld also had a review on the DOT version, which meets DOT and ECE standards in both modes....

RSV Stator - Buckeye vs Hotshot
AmnChode replied to roadrider01's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Liek I said...I know they are out there, but have yet to see anyone actually use them. And what really concerns me with them is the output in lumens (click here for specs)...40 for the 9 LED version seems mighty low considering the average for a 35w H3 bulb is around 700-750...of course, the following line on the same specs page is also not that encouraging: "These bulbs are suitable for Daytime Running Lamps only - they do not produce enough light for useful illumination at night" Low power is nice, but they are useless if I can't get any light out of them... -
I've eye-balled that a couple of times...decent price on them, too...Might end up picking one up if it fits right...

RSV Stator - Buckeye vs Hotshot
AmnChode replied to roadrider01's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have thought about doing this BUT 1)I have yet to see LED "bulbs" actually used in passing lights (while the replacements exist, never heard of anyone actually doing it...unless I missed it here) 2)concerned with the actual light output (not whether people can see me, but what I can see) & 3)The LED bulb replacements are rather expensive just to "test out".... Now if I was to actually see a comparison, I would definetly consider it, as I love the pure white light of LEDs and the low power consumption -

Very nice and professional looking ....Looks like a possible new project for me, although I would want to swap out one of the gauges for a tach...hmmmmm -

My concern was whether they got the vibration out of them (keep in mind, the press release was in 2005)....per the wikipedia page, w/ref to the cbs news bit, they would start to vibrate above 50mph.....would take all the fun out if you ask me... BTW...bunch of videos on them here...

Bike, Semi....hmmm big difference between them. Usually why I take stories like these with a grain of salt unless they have pictures of the vehicle at the scene...

Looks like they are attached to an e-mail from the address link : http://ca.mg4.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f6024%5fAIUIw0MAAMW1SadQyAGKWWBij4Q&pid=3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Would probably need to right-click and save the pics to your machine and then attach them to the forum post... BUT.... after googling the subject, I think this is what you were talking about (called the Tweel): http://www.shadetreemechanic.com/michelin_new_tire_design.htm & http://www.gizmag.com/go/3603/ also, a wikipedia link on it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tweel

Stereo mounted on our windshield?
AmnChode replied to GuthDaddy17's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Expensive in comparison, but an option all the same: Kuryakyn - The Sound of Chrome *EDIT* Yeah...looks like Kury wants to re-direct the link....I re-browsed to it and the link is the same. Might need to copy the link, open the site, select metric, and then re-paste it in the address window. CruiserCustomizing has them listed, as well...for $330 too -
I've learned a long time ago to stay out of political discusions. You aren't going to change their mind and they aren't going to change yours...so why even start. But after reading that Don reads each and every post....I'm just tempted to slap a "Hi Freebird" in a post every once awhile to see if he really does...hehehe

You get it on a Sun and I might even have a chance of making it... And congrats on the new bike....

Passing Lamp Option
AmnChode replied to Long Tall's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Sounds kinda close to what I did, but mine wasn't on purpose. I bought the Venture light bar with Venture lamps not knowing they were sealed beam. It was one of the rare times I didn't put a lot alot of research into something and it bit me (as I should have expected). But, I lucked out as my best friend's father-in-law had gutted his lamps for his VTX to add flashing red/blue LEDs (does escorts for funerals and such; SAPD). They just happen to fit the venture buckets perfect like and I know have an H3 bulb setup. For the moment, I am still running the OEM 25W Honda bulbs, but I'll eventually pick me up some nice 35 watters... -
Kuryakyn ISO grips and end weights
AmnChode replied to Jethroish's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
There is a one other option. Baron makes a set of grip ends that "split the difference" between stock Kuryakyn and stock end weights. See here... I put them on my bike mainly because I didn't have what I needed to do the job right (IMHO). They are not as heavy as the stock ends, but they do have some weight on them, hence the splitting the difference. The best part about them is that they are quite easy to install....remove the stock Kury end, replace with Baron end...I have attached a view shots to see them on the bike (sorry, no close ups) -
Think I need some clutch help............
AmnChode replied to nkbjones's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Just wanted to say thanks to all involved with this thread....Found it when doing some research into my issue. Just installed the PCW clutch upgrade and she acts like a whole new bike. I love it, but have a feeling it is going to get me into trouble...hehehe:whistling: -
Well...you kinda contradicted yourself there. That a) Harley goes out of it's way to supply replacement parts on models that tend to stick around and b) the fact that there are Harleys that keep rolling for decades say something for their quality. That doesn't say anything other than that they will sell you the part to keep it rolling. The question that would need to be asked in this situation is, how often are these needing to be worked on and to what extreme (ie, engine rebuilds)?

Wouldn't mind a set myself...so count one more for your consideration...

Hehe, First thought that ripped my mind was Burt Munro, as well... Hell, it is all I would really need....well, that and an nice entertainment center (big movie buff). If i was single, or if the wife would let me, it is probably how I would be living...happinees by simplicity

Downshift here, as well, and for the same reasons. As far as the brake light is concerned, you should be able to cover the break lightly to the point that the brake light is on, but the brakes are not engaged, thus warning drivers behind you but still not wearing on your brakes. At least this is what I do if I have traffic behind me....

Well....I'm a little out of the bell curve on the age brackets (ie, just turned 30 last Aug), but I also like all kinds of music. Anything from Classic Rock to modern metal, with somes sides of blues and classical; plus, with a 16gig Zune, I can load it up with a good chunk of it. Most of the time, though, I just run the rock/metal playlist on a shuffle of over 1800 songs, so I rarely hear the same song twice... Currently have a mix of the following: AC/DC Audioslave Anthrax Coal Chamber Coverdale/Page Creed Creedence Clearwater Revival The Doors Down Faith No More Godsmack GreenDay Guns N' Roses Hellyeah Helmet Jackyl Jimi Hendrix Kid Rock Kittie Korn Led Zeppelin Lenny Kravitz Limp Bizkit Lynyrd Skynyrd Megadeth Metallica Ministry Nickelback Nine Inch Nail Pantera Pearl Jam Queen Rage Against the Machine Rammstein Rob Zombie Rush Sepultura Skindred Static-X Stevie Ray Vaughan Sublime Tool Type O Negative White Zombie Wolfmother & ZZ Top This doesn't count the other 5 playlist I have loaded....but you get the idea
