  1. The 1200 Venture has small cover that hides that hide the clutch cylinder , after pulling the cover I had at repeat the process least 3 times ..The last try I used a hard stiff material about .008 thickness and a very thin coating of urethane on the lower half of the cover ...It did work ...I did not like using the urethane , because it may not come off without a major effort
  2. I had a instance where the battery was about 1/2 charge and a boost would not turn the engine .. After sometime spent on trying , I decided to skin the positive battery a 2 1/2 inches from the battery connector The cable was full of green sulfate about 2 inches form the connector . Clipped the jumper cable past the bad green sulfate on the cable and the motor started instantly
  3. I have repairing / building engines since 1964 and had on more than occasion getting the leak proof seal on engine covers takes some effort I don't about you guys out there , but I find a OEM gasket is not always available , Sometimes the thicker you make the gasket the more it will leak .
  4. If you need help please ask , there is a lot of know how on this site . There are somethings that books can not tell you , stuff that comes form many years on the road
  5. I like the windshield height to be just tall enough so that if I sit up straight I see over the top edge of it .. I have found that if you paint or tint the lower half of the windshield it will help to stop the head light glare from the head lights caused by oncoming cars at night The led lights on the new cars seem to present a larger problem or maybe what they need is a proper alignment I make my own using Lexan
  6. That is one a good looking bike , I hope you enjoy it
  7. I know that amost of us sometimes don't think or realize , has happened to us as we approach the senior years ...At 74 I am finding out that some of the time I spent on the race track or doing a cross country endurance run that caused many injuries has a way of telling me , that I need to be careful and it may be time for a trike ... Don't give up find something easy to handle .
  8. I will post more pictures once I have electronics trimmed down ...I plan to match the paint on the rear of the bike to the front
  9. I like going a dealer or another bike repair shop and guys tell me that they have some junkers out back in the storage shed and I say great ...Are they for sale ?? ..They then say yes , but why would you want them ... I like nothing better buying one and 2 weeks ride it back to shop I bought the bike form saying I have a used bike for sale that runs great ...I have often found that some little problem which does not come to any one of the guys mind is all that is wrong ...I just bought one last week and all that was wrong was the crankcase vent was plugged and the engine was pushing the oil out in about 30 minutes of run time ..Another they said was disaster and that it needed new carbs ...All there was wrong was the carb floats were jammed against the float bowel
  10. Right I would like to drive anywhere ...My doctor handed me a medical suspension on April 1rst and Last I heard it will last till September ...This all because of medication screw up between the doctors and the pharmacist ...And of course the government agency that handles all licenses and insurance say that they will enforce this suspension to the fullest ...If.I do not comply I will spend some time in jail ... The medical exam has to be done by 3 different doctors at a cost of $90.00 each time which I have to pay ...

    In Memory

I have never served , but I have family and friends who have ...When they come home we need to make sure all their needs are covered ...Some of the people come home needing a lot of help and we need to do our park for them ...And for those that do not come let us remember them , because they gave all they could .
  12. That would be a handy unit , and about the right size ..I built a steel trailer that size 6 years ago , I found that when loading.. 2.. 800 bikes onto it a little S10 V6 truck is to light a vehicle to do the pulling , becomes unsafe in the corners on the highway and you will need brakes on the trailer ....Keep it as close to the ground as you can for easy loading ..Build a strong hitch for safety reasons ...A 180 amp Mig will do the job in either aluminum or steel , only problem the aluminum conversion on the Mig is costly
  13. It is sad that there are many drivers do not know the rules of the road , and there are many who just do not care ...It might help if the traffic court would throw the book at the so called ,,,I don't know and I don't care drivers...We have short piece of 4 lane between 2 little cities here in Manitoba .....It easy to tell who knows how to drive and who does not
  14. I was taught the kindness part in life , and I can personally tell you that it works ...I was always the smallest guy in the group and was constantly asked , when are you going to grow .So I always had to go that extra mile The experience bringing wisdom , that is something we keep on trying for .
  15. Kindness brings friendship ...experience brings wisdom

  16. I appreciate your sense of humor ,, The are times when doing a project like this you need a sense of humor
  17. Next on the list is to hookup and mount computer monitor , there some features that will be handy .. I also need to make a small dash panel for the signal lights, neutral , high beam and temp gauge .. I plan on painting the remainder of the bike ... My ground clearance under center shock is 5 inches at 15 lbs and 6 1/12 inches at 22 lbs air pressure I have had the bike apart bolt by bolt from front to back ..It has been a 10 month project

  20. I was waiting for a small speedometer thinking I might move the monitor unit in at the handle bars near the key , I have moved the relays near that location . I have rad over flow on the other side , am trying mount it so that I could make a right and left cover to have the appearance of fuel tank and make a removable lid to access the over flow ...I find these kind of conversions are never as easy as the planning is
  21. I have removed 65 lbs from the 83 , and the balance / lean weight is much better ...When standing beside the bike .I can grab the handle bars with one hand and pull the bike 14 inches past center and push it back with one hand on the handle bars easily . ..I will be replace the one battery with 2 smaller ones at the rear of the bike in aluminum battery boxes down in front of the saddle bags .Most of the remaining weight is below the level of the seat .. I have lowered the bike 1 1/2 inches
  22. I do know where Fargo is I am in Morden Manitoba about 15 minutes north of the USA/Canada border
  23. I can tell that the people that I have talked too on this forum are a bunch great people , who have a faith in God ...I do know that God looks after what belongs to him ..God has been good to me over and over again
  24. I have a friend who has kept a journal of all the miles , tires and gasoline fills nearing the 300000 mile mark ... It is a great way of monitoring how your bike is performing .. Also a good conversation piece when comparing your bike to another some one else is riding ...It does take commitment .
  25. God has been so good to me over and over again ..I will be praying for you ...In the book of Mathew Jesus does say that he wants to ask when there is a need and that we are to have faith that our prayers will be answered
