  1. Made an ammo run to Academy Sports. Not much in stock but was able to pick up some .22 Shorts and .22 Magnum as well as some .22 snake shot.
  2. If it has a salvage title there is more to the story that they are not telling you. The Sebring had a clean title and a clean CarFax report. In the short term it is for my wife to drive until my oldest daughter buys herself a car and gives us back my '10 GMC Canyon that my wife stole from me. (Small truck, off-road Z71 package, one of the rare examples with the 5.3L V-8...and has been tuned. She calls it "Zoom-Zoom") Once she gets her favorite truck back the Sebring will become our younger daughter's first vehicle.
  3. A 22 year old car is going to require some work, even with low mileage like that. I couple of weeks ago a 2000 Chrysler Sebring JXi with 77,000 miles on it followed me home. It is currently in the shop. This bill will be around $4,000 for things that need to be repaired immediately. There is another $1,200-$1,500 of repairs that it would be prudent to do soon (and they will be done soon). But, when all repairs are done it should be in really good shape and I only paid $2,400 for the car to start with.
  4. I have a double USB charging port with voltmeter hard wired into my battery so I can keep an eye on it. At cruise it reads just over 14 volts, at idle just over 13 volts. This pic was taken a few minutes ago with the bike off.
  5. Loose nuts or bolts can certainly cause unexpected drama. Back in '07 my wife and I went on a bike trip from the Orlando, FL area where we live to the Asheville, NC area with some friends. When we were cruising down the interstate a few miles from our destination in NC I saw something fall off the windshield of my '06 Vulcan 2000 and bounce somewhere under the bike. I had no idea what it was and forgot about it. A few minutes later our exit came up but when I went to let off the throttle for the off ramp it wouldn't go below 1/2 to 3/4 throttle......and at 70 mph that stop sign was coming up fast. Luckily I had the presence of mind to thumb the kill switch and coasted to a stop. So then there was an impromptu roadside investigation/repair. Turns out one of the cap nuts securing my windshield on came off and got stuck in the throttle linkage. Three days before we left on the trip the Kawasaki dealer had replaced my windshield under warranty because it had started cracking. I guess they were afraid to crack the replacement one so they didn't tighten the nuts enough.
  6. I have not dropped my RSV.....yet. I did drop my Vulcan 2000 once. I had just backed out of my parking space at work and my fingers slipped off the clutch with the front wheel turned downhill. Bike fell over on the downhill side. I was unable to lift it by myself, luckily a passerby stopped to help.
  7. LOL! Even has a lid to keep the neighborhood cats out of it. I had planned to buy a base Harbor Freight trailer and put a car top carrier on it, but it turns out the one I bought used came new in that configuration.
  8. The windshield is a Clearview GT XXL with light gray tint and the optional vent. You can find it here: https://www.clearviewshields.com/motorcycle-windshields/yamaha/yamaha-touring/royal-star-venture-shields/ When I bought my RSV last November it came with a shorty dark tinted windshield. My wife and I decided to go on a 5 day 1,000 mile lap around north central Florida. After 5 days of wind buffeting so bad it was making my eyeballs vibrate I ordered the Clearview within an hour of arriving back home. Because of the storage pouches I had them install the vent a little higher than stock. They were happy to do so once they made sure I understood that as a customized windshield it was non-returnable. I measured very carefully before telling them how much higher to go and it came out perfect. Overall I am very pleased with this windshield.....no more vibrating eyeballs. Ok, confession time. I found their website based on an old thread on here.....yeah, I have been lurking awhile and finally got around to ponying up for a membership. Most of the improvements I have made to my RSV I found on here. But....not the storage pouches. I wish I could tell you what website I found them on, but I honestly can't remember. It probably wouldn't matter though, they were on clearance and I bought them months ago so I doubt they would have any more. I think I paid around $35 for them. They are for a Harley so the plastic insert to hold them between the windshield and dash was not long enough. I managed to secure the assembly to a couple of bolts under the fairing cover using some solid core copper wire. Holds just fine and the wire is not visible. On the downside though, the pouches block my view of the speedometer.....which was one of the reasons I bought the TomTom 550.....after I read the review by VentureFar......starting to see a pattern here? You guys are gonna cost me a lot of money. But at least with the TomTom now I can see my speed.
  9. Guess you're not quite done with the mods to the Harley.......needs a trailer hitch.
  10. Surprisingly that is only a 10 round mag on the VEPR....them 12 gauge shells ain't small. 25 round drums are available for it, but it is expensive enough to feed with the 10 round mags, feeding a drum magazine would put me in the poor house. My VEPR is currently my primary castle defender, tucked between two dressers in the bedroom and loaded with 10 rounds of 00 Buck. On the dresser is another 10 round magazine of 00 Buck and a 10 rounder loaded with slugs, just for good measure. Note to all the thugs out there: my house is not a soft target. If you want to add more hoot to your shoot with the AR-12, have you considered a binary trigger? I have been considering getting a CZ Scorpion Evo with the folding brace and 50 round drum magazine. It would make a very compact, very effective home defender. With a binary trigger it would rival the full auto sub machine gun version used in Europe by the Police and military. Due to other demands on my paycheck, there is not one in my immediate future, but it is on my list of guns I would like to buy someday.
  11. Yes, it pretty much is a miniature 1911 chambered in 9MM. Can't say how close the internals are since I am not a 1911 expert, but Kimber makes very nice 1911's. I doubt they would have tried to reinvent the wheel, just miniaturized it.
  12. Not sure what your budget is, but a year and a half ago I bought my wife a Kimber Micro 9 because she wanted something easier to conceal than her M&P Shield 9. The Kimber has been a fantastic success, very compact, very easy to conceal and shoots very well. For a size comparison here is her Micro 9 with a 7 round extended magazine sitting on top of my Shield 9. There are also 6 round flush magazines and 8 round extended magazines available for it.
  13. I might be a little late to the party but the last shotgun I bought was a used single shot CBC Model SB that I found on Guns.com. It was a very pleasant buying experience. I am not recommending that shotgun for your purpose, I bought it for nostalgic reasons (I owned one as a teenager in West Africa). Puc mentioned his scary black AR-12..... I have it's alter-ego, the full-on evil Communist Bloc VEPR-12. Is it simple? No. Is it legal? Depends on where you live. Is it small and light? Heck no. Is it a hoot to shoot and an attention-getter on the range? Why yes! Yes it is. With the muzzle brake I have on it standing next to it is like standing next to a field howitzer when it goes off. Pic of it with my AR-15 for size comparison:
  14. Looks like a nice helmet for the money. I would be interested if they had more color choices.
  15. For me it would have to be the V-Max. That is unlikely to ever happen though since it would be a toy for me to ride solo. I have a very difficult time getting my bike out of the driveway without either my wife or my daughter jumping on the back. The both love to ride as much as I do.
  16. Ok, I will confess, found the phone holder based on a link you posted in another thread, so I shall now return the favor: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C2765SQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Yes, I can confirm it will hold a 44 oz. cup. That cup holder does not come with a mount so I ordered this and it worked perfectly: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KOOQG9A/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  17. It has been awhile since I was on here so I have some catching up to do. I didn't do all this today, but since I posted last. Installed an LED headlight replacement bulb from Superbright LED's along with LED passing lamps. The headlight bulb was $35, plug and play and has very good performance. It is designed to work with the existing reflector and I have to say they got it right. Installed a trailer hitch and bought a used Harbor Freight trailer off Craigslist. The clutch was slipping under hard acceleration so I installed a Barnett spring kit - problem solved. Installed a Kisan headlight modulator. With the LED headlight it makes road signs pulse like strobes even in broad daylight. If they can't see me coming now, they are too blind to be behind the wheel. Installed a TomTom Rider 550 GPS and a Ram X-mount phone holder on the handlebars. Was able to design a single mount to hold both. Installed a iMESTOU brand phone holder in the back for my wife. I like the Ram X-mount, but I wouldn't have it if I had found this first.
  18. For me it depends on my mood and/or how I am dressed. Most of the time I carry my M&P Shield9 with the factory 7 round magazine that has been modified with the Strike Industries EMP+2 magazine extension. This gives me 9+1 rounds of 9MM in what is still a very compact package. Sometimes I opt for my S&W 686 Plus .357 Magnum with the 3" barrel. I always carry a couple of spare magazines for the Shield and one speed loader and a couple of speed strips for the revolver. Why? Just because I can.
  19. Installed the new Clearview XXL windshield I ordered a couple of weeks ago and took it for a 4 hour test ride........it's 1,000% better than the shorty the previous owner stuck on there. Now there is no helmet buffeting until somewhere north of 80 mph and that is very minor compared to what it was.
  20. Quite true, different laws in different states. In Florida what is restricted is lights that emulate law enforcement. Could be open to interpretation, but all law enforcement agencies in Florida run blue lights. Many run red as well, but all of them run blue. As long as they are tied into the brake circuit only I should be good. My riding buddy who gave me the idea and who also runs them on his bike (has for years) is a retired Highway Patrol Captain. If he doesn't think it is an issue in Florida, I suspect it will not be an issue for me. If I ever plan to ride in a state where it would be an issue, a disconnect switch would be easy to install.
  21. I actually had a decent amount of experience......with much slower aircraft. That one was way overpowered. Even at 1/4 throttle it was moving much faster than any of the .049 models I had flown before. My current plane is nothing spectacular, but is enjoyable on the rare occasions I have a chance to fly it. It is an electric Super Cub.
  22. Whether it is a crater or a lawn dart depends on how much fuel is aboard when it hits the ground..... If you can keep control of it and land safely you have mad skills. I have built and flown a few R/C aircraft over the years but it would scare me to death to pilot that one. Back when I was ready to move up from an .049 to something with a throttle I bought a Super Sport kit that called for a .15 engine. Since I was planning on using a grass strip the guy at the hobby shop talked me into putting a .25 engine on it......big mistake for my skill level at the time. Take-off roll was non-existent. Hit the throttle and it would literally jump into the air from a standstill. Stand it on its tail and it would climb like a rocket. I managed to crash it twice on the same flight (crashed, bounced into the air, gave it throttle, came back around and crashed again). On that plane's last flight it got away from me and I could not tell which way it was pointing. When we finally found it about a mile away I had to dig for the engine.
  23. If I remember correctly, he was one of a set of identical twins who held the world record in the '70's as the world's heaviest twins. Those mini-bikes were how they got around instead of walking.
  24. I don't think you will need a large search crew......it should be easy to follow the smoke plume emanating from the crater in the ground from miles away.
  25. I didn't see anybody answer the strobe question, so here you go. I ordered two Feniex T3 strobes for $35 each and two mounting L-brackets for $5 each from the Feniex website. Installation was quick and easy, I mounted them under the luggage rack, synced them and tied them into the brake light circuit. Forum will not let me post links so if you want to see them in action go to YouTube and search this phrase: Feniex T3 Strobes as auxillary brake lights on a motorcycle. You will find video of the strobes on my bike.
