Hang in there Eddie .....sorry to hear of your mishap and I certainly hope you heal FAST! I went down with my 06 Venture on 26 July.....and the only part of my body that does not have pain is my fingertips. Hope to be back in the saddle by the end of September and I will do a much better job of "dressing for the crash rather than the ride" this next time around! At least my Venture was not totaled as this was a low speed crash at 30mph.....but the asphalt was not any softer at low speed I assure you. Regards........Boomer

I'll bet if he had known he was gonna live that long he would have taken better care of himself......

Just a few words of thanks to all who have offered me best wishes. I am finally at the point where I can breathe without pain (darn busted ribs) and move around the house slightly faster than a 99 year old man with a triple dose of Viagra. The Dealer has the scoot torn down and now the waiting game for new parts to come in begins. Expected completion date for full repair/restoration is mid-September. I'm fine with that because my healing may take even longer than that.....grrrrrrrr. Again.....My sincere thanks to all of you. I have gained a tremendous amount of info about my Venture from this Site and the support from folks here I have never met has astounded me. Ride safe all........... Regards and respect to all............Boomer

Welcome to the "Downed Riders Club". You sound as banged up as I am Bro. I crashed on the 26th Of July but it seems like only yesterday on the pain level. Your Insurance Adjuster should be contacting you shortly after you notify the Company of the mishap. If you are lucky you will have one that is fair and has a modicum of compassion for your plight. Because there were no other vehicles involved you will be on your own in dealing with your Insurance Company. Just because the bike was airborne does not mean additional damage was done. Let the Dealer and Adjuster survey the damage and see what conclusion they come to. Don't rush it on the bike....Your healing process will take some time and that should be your highest priority. Godspeed and heal well.........Boomer

All I have found out so far.... with just a few phone calls..... is that it was not a Connecticut State Police Motor Officer who was hurt. I'm putting out feelers and will keep snooping on this......... Regards...........Boomer

I'm going to check with several friends of mine who are also Connecticut State Police Motorcycle Officers. If I can find out the Officer's name and Agency I will post the info here so folks can send him Get Well Cards. The LEO's here in Connecticut go above and beyond in supporting/escorting our Patriot Guard Missions! Regards and respect to all..........Boomer

Bob......As I entered the turn the morning sun blinded me completely. I was in 3rd gear and speed was 30mph. I continued through the turn driving blindly.....ended up going a tad too wide and hit the right side curbing. Once on the gravel/dirt I downshifted to 2nd and hit the throttle in a attempt to drive the bike back onto the road. The rear wheel kicked out due to too much applied power and down the scoot and I went. I firmly believe that if I had not downshifted I could have pulled it off and made it safely back onto the road. Note to self: The Venture is not a dirtbike! LOL! Regards........Boomer

Sincere thanks to all for the good wishes. Being 58 years old methinks the scoot will be 100% repaired quite a bit before I am.....sigh. Buddy.......I might just be sending my seat to you for modifications a bit sooner than I had planned. Regards to all........Boomer

On 26 July at 8:36AM my 06 Venture and I went down on a Exit off I-95 South near Newton MA while enroute to a PGR Mission. My injuries: 4 broken ribs; 4 broken lower back vertebra; crushed left foot;twisted left ankle and knee; lacerations/abrasions to lower leg leg. Venture: $7K in damages. Bike is at Dealership in MA being repaired/restored. I am at home licking my wounds and attempting to create soft asphalt. Ride safe out there my Brothers and Sisters.....that road has no mercy! Boomer.......who failed to complete PGR Mission #103.

ROFL! Yes I concede that it is colder in your neck of the woods......but to me anytime the temp is lower than 50degrees I AM COLD! Ride safe Bro...........Boomer

ROFL! I'm the one who posted that.....and believe me that jacuzzi/hot tub/Jim Beam gets me through the long Winter's up here. Regards.......Boomer

The bike I owned previous to my current Venture had EFI and I loved it. Instant start-ups even in the frozen North here....and the throttle response was the best of all.Gas mileage was very good and consistent year round. I for one will NOT miss the Carb's if they go away with Cassette players. IF,and I use the term loosely, Yamaha upgrades the Venture by 2010 I will be taking a hard look at acquiring the 3rd Gen Venture for sure.

I have been with the Patriot Guard going on 2 years now. There are no meetings; no dues to pay; nor any requirement that you attend any specific number of Missions. Our Mission Statement says it all and there is no hidden agenda. Some of our most dedicated members here in CT and RI don't even ride bikes....they use cars/trucks! Registration costs nothing but by becoming a member you will then have access to the Patriot Guard Store which offers many items you can purchase for your own use. We are NOT a Motorcycle Club and never will be.....just a whole bunch of Americans trying to do the right thing by providing comfort to the families of our fallen Hero's.... and honoring those Hero's for their ultimate sacrifice to this Country. I suggest you attend 1-2 Missions and see what we do before you make any commitment .....the Missions (Funerals) we do can be tough on the emotions. Ride Safe and regards............Boomer

Anyone here........
BoomerCPO replied to BoomerCPO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Thanks for the info guys.....I don't think mine are seated all the way because I did not use anti-seize when I installed them. I really love the sound these Baron's give that big V-4..... Regards.......Boomer -
Is anyone here running the Baron 4-2-4 Nasty Boy Slip-On pipes on their Venture? If so.......What did you use for a gasket where the pipes actually slip on the exhaust pipe? I have hunted high and low and cannot find, or even determine, if gaskets are needed for these Slip On pipes. Thanks for any info/responses. Regards...........Boomer

I thought that logic only applied to 1st Gen riders..........

Don.....If there are topless waitress's running around in that Hotel I can understand perfectly why you are having computer problems...... Regards........Boomer
-
Yes. As soon as I read your initial post I did exactly what you did....no problems whatsoever. Regards.........Boomer

I have done many of the mods mentioned here on my Midnight Venture. This riding season so far I have clocked over 7,000 miles going all over the Northeast Region for Patriot Guard Missions. No problem whatsoever with Law Enforcement at any level. Of course I leave my Patriot Guard Banner on the windshield 24/7 so that might play a part.......... Regards..........Boomer

Don....I just downloaded the Firefox update here and all is working perfectly. No problems with the Home page here as you seem to be having. Computer settings perhaps? I don't know enough about these darn pooters to be of much help !! Regards........Boomer

Billet....Before you join the Patriot Guard I gently suggest you attend a couple of Missions to see just what it is we do and how we do it. Overall it is an emotional roller coaster ride Shipmate..... I have over 100 Missions done and my eyes still leak and I grieve right along with the family/friends of a fallen Hero. Warmest regards......Boomer

Have you replace a coil on your RSV?
BoomerCPO replied to Freebird's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The Dealer just put a new coil in on my Venture. The left rear cylinder was doing nothing. With all four's firing the bike runs like a scalded ape now..... -
I read that post and the responses earlier myself. It looked to me like the thread was headed for the crapper pretty fast. For the sake of keeping the peace here I can only assume that one of the Mods pulled the "Flush" handle......and that's a good thing IMO.
