  1. True on that one, will put that caveat in when I do that torque spec. Thanks for the reminder on that one. Haven’t done the drain bolts yet either and have done at least 4 oil changes, did add the magnetic dimple plugs and magnetic sleeve(s) for the oil filter.
  2. I understand the manual is on line, ( I have downloaded the copy to my computer, phone and iPad) but can be a pain to find the info. I also have the hard copy of the manual. I look at this two ways: 1) it is a cheat sheet. Quick reference. 2) it is like when I was RPPO (repair parts petty officer) any time I spent more then 30 minutes looking up a part I put it in my little green memorandum book so I didn’t waste time the next time I had to order the part. Granted you will learn new information as you look up the info you need but sometimes you don’t have the time to look it up. So whether it is used by anyone else, it is a quick reference for me (and a work in progress) that I thought someone might like. and no offense is taken, it is not for everyone. Eric
  3. I am starting a spreadsheet with various torque specifications for the Star Venture. It is a work in progress and will add as needed (i.e. I am doing some maintenance or someone asks for a torque spec). Star Venture Torque Specs.xlsx
  4. Just what I was going to say. Here is the page from the service manual. He is .4 qts low on yer engine.
  5. Cowpuc, Please give me a shout, pm or email, ecbaatz@reagan.com. I have some questions about a front end wobble I would like to get your input on. Thanks, Eric
  6. You stated that wrong. You took a shortcut to the shop. LOL
  7. Not intending it to be a snide remark. I have a wobble between 15-25 mph. My research shows it could be bearings, ($30 apiece) or the steering nut is loose. I have also heard that if rear is out of alignment it could cause it as well but am skeptical. It started before i changed the front tire. Thought it was the stock tire so put a new one on with balancing beads and still have the wobble. So I am trying to eliminate possible causes. I thought checking steering nut would be cheaper then replacing the bearings. Sorry if I offended you.
  8. I have the tech manual, that is where I found the torque after a search. Still trying to find the size. I think it might be 36 mm but not sure.
  9. Does anyone know the size and torque specifications of the steering nut on a 2018 Star Venture? Still searching but have not found that info yet. Update: Found torque spec to be 85ftlbs 2nd update: It is a 36 mm nut
  10. Back to school, now getting up at 0430 and need my beauty sleep, actually a lot of beauty sleep. (Beat you to it Cowpuc). and trying to get as much riding in as possible. Now have over 13,144 miles on Saphira.
  11. I have 12975 on my 2018 SVTC that I bought 1 Nov 19 with 34 miles on it. Did not get any riding in in Jan or Feb but am trying to catch you. LOL
  12. I had some foam that I added, hoping it will act as a lockwasher in the it will provide outward pressure on the screws to prevent them from coming loose. But will also check them periodically. The length of the screws did not seem to be a problem. I will be ordering spares though.
  13. Installed a Clearview windshield on the bike, medium which is 21" tall, recurve, tinted grey. I like it so far. Only put about 90 miles on the bike with it on so it is still new. Have not tested it with a passenger yet. My main reason for this post is to let everyone know to check the screws holding the windshield on for tightness. They seemed awful loose when I went to take them off. I have 12k miles on the bike and have not checked them before.
  14. Full size 1911 in 45 acp!!
  15. We have 43 acres here, starting on building a pistol pit to shoot, so far only have dug into the bank but will be putting up a backstop. No sense in paying to do its someplace else. So come on up, we can shoot when we aren't riding or ride when we aren't shooting. Your pick.
  16. Cowpuc, I am only about 2.5 hours from you if you want to compare the 2018 star venture. Should be a lot of fun!
  17. Sorry, but in my opinion, nothing compares to the tried and true 1911 in 45acp!!!
  18. Talked with the dealer, he is trying to find an opening to get me in to at least look at it with the computer. Haven't heard further yet. I did order. new antenna from Rockymountainatvmc.com for $53.95. Figure if I have it when I go in and they don't I can save some time and they can replace it. Or maybe just do it myself. However, the prodigal GPS has returned. I went for a ride this morning and it was still lost. When for a ride this evening and when I booted up the bike it was home. Not sure if he will stay home or not but..
  19. Well, the GPS is totally messed up. It got lost last night 07-21-2020 on a ride and still tells me I am about 210 miles from where I am at. Battery connections are tight, deleting personal info, riding in circles did not help. Went for a ride today 07-22-2020 and the GPS stayed lost, even after totally shutting down at 3 different stops. Guess I will be calling a couple of dealers tomorrow. I have installed the new map updates and the latest software update. To say I am disappointed is an understatement!
  20. I like the horn, of course it is not as loud as I would like but then.... The split bond enables you to set it up hight on the bike. I tried a different brand but a bad bump with the front cause it to hit the horn assembly and break it. I mounted the compressor behind the left fog lamp. Sorry I don't have pictures of that.
  21. SMH. and are you going to share those drugs?
  22. Yes, I have the latest firmware, I had to update it as the dealer failed to do so before delivery. Will check battery connections but don’t think that is it as I have added lock washers. And they were tight when I upgraded to the Denali split bomb air horn.
  23. Actually with the new venture all you would have to do is turn the grip heateras on top keep your hands warm!
  24. An unusual occurrence occurred to me today for the second time. I stopped at a rest area to use the facilities. Turned the bike off while I was away. When I started the bike back up and the GPS booted up saying it was ready to go. It showed a map, but not a map of where I was located. I continued on down the road to see if it would get its bearings but it did not. So after a while, I stopped and shut the bike off, waited about 5 minutes and started the bike again to see if it reset. It did not. I tried two more times at different locations with no results. The last time I stopped was to fill up the tank. After I got done and started the bike the GPS was reading correctly. The only difference on this stop is that I opened the tank cover and removed the gas cap. Has anyone else seen this problem and if so, what did you do to correct it? I am definitely thinking of just getting the Garmin Zumo XT and let the onboard GPS do whatever it wants to do.
