My shop called Friday and I have an appointment this coming Thursday for the replacement. I was shocked that it was so quick.

This topic was pulled on the other forum, poster got an email asking for it to be removed, moderator did so. Recommend copying and saving it somewhere. I have asked poster what Yamaha is trying to hide, and waiting for his answer.

This is what I purchased, it is stock height but with recurve and wider.

Oh I did it in both accessory and the bike running. You just might not have seen that part as I had to shorten the video to get it to load here.

Well, I tried an experiment this afternoon with the stock gps and it raised an interesting question. There has been discussion on the difference between the analog speedometer and the digital one. There were questions on why the accuracy difference. My thought was that the front wheel provided the speed indication for both analog and digital. So to prove this theory I did the following. I put the but on a trailer, had some one tow me while I videoed the speedometer and GPS. In addition I had my Garmin Xumo Xt installed as well so we would have a base line. As I was recording it I did find out that there was no speed indication neither analog nor digital which is what I was expecting. The shock was that the stock gps was not indicating the travel. It stayed on the starting point of when I began the test. I did record both in accessory and with the bike running to see if there was a difference. There was none. I stopped and shut the bike off and to just check I started it back up to see if the stock gps would find the new location. Which it did. I cannot explain why the stock gps did not show the travels. So that is the new question. The Garmin Xumo did show the travel. So now I have to see if I can figure out why. I do hope this answers some questions. Should not be a problem, I have to pull that side cover to remove the seat to do the oil change.

Did an oil change today and was frustrated having to look up the info again. So being a nuke I took notes.

Received word from my dealer that Yamaha has approved the repairs. Now just have to wait on delivery of the part. And hopefully since I got my recall letter in the mail today, I can get the front brake switch replaced at the same time.

I agree, that is why I asked the dealer about it. I have the pigtail installed.

Net time I have problem I will go there, but right now I will leave it where it is. I don't want to start the process from the beginning again.

Talked with Yamaha today, They stated if there was a problem with the battery when in the dealer care, it would be taken care of.

I know it is not lithium, might be agm but not sure. I did not look that close at it.

I am considering it, but the only other dealer that was recommended is 2 hours away in the other direction. So it is a drive either way. And the first one is where I bought the bike. The closest Yamaha dealer is not recommended.

Bike has been at the dealer since 22 November for gps repair. Called today to get an update, none. Asked about the brake switch recall, did not know about it. (Smiling). Also, and the reason for this post, I asked if the battery was on a tender. They said no but seeing that it was in a heated facility they did not see the necessity. I mentioned that there are a lot of electronics on the bike, but no concerned shown. So, how long can the bike sit before the battery will go dead? Any one have any ideas?

Saddlebum, yes there is a square shape antenna. The first thing I thought of when the problem started. So I bought a new antenna, I know it is under warranty but did not want to lose riding time over the summer. It was about $53. I replaced it with no improvement. I could not tell if there were additional connections from the schematics to if they might be loose or bad, and to physically check it out would require major disassembly of the fairing, and it is under warranty. So I figured I would let them do that. I ended up buying a Garmin Zumo XT for use over the summer. Great GPS. No regrets there. I also understood the limitations of the stock gps when I bought but since I mainly use the gps to go from point a to point b it was not an issue. It would find me fuel when I was low as well. I just want it to work. I paid for it. So since I thought riding season was slowing down in November in northern Michigan I took it into the dealer to be looked at. Of course I forgot it is 2020 and weather is not normal so I have missed some riding. But I should have it working by spring??? LOL

My on going gps problem. As you can see I finally took it in to have the dealer look at it. These are my notes on the status. I apologize if my language upsets some but this problem is upsetting.

There is a downloadable one on this web site which I did down load. I also purchased the one from Service-shop-repair manual for $50 but is is now down to $40.
