Just a question -- Why don't you just go to where the bike is at put your new license tag on the bike and ride it home. How will anyone know the bike wasn't already yours and that you were just riding? if you have insurence and it is registered.. To me it sounds like someone is just trying to get more money from you!

Head-Set Pig Tail Holder - Tank Placement ?
Sling replied to Cougar's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I took the plug off the tank and attached it to the plastic peice just to the left of the ingnition switch. The holder is permanent, but I ty-rapped the plug to it. The pigtail wire from the helmet does not touch the tank at all. Hope this helps. -
I like Clive Cussler Adventure novels

Shadow-- As you found out the taps are very brittle. I have had success using an automatic center punch. you might have to do it a couple of times. The tap will break into little peices. Then you can pick them out:thumbsup2: Hope this helps.

Here is a few pictures I took this morning of aftermath of the storm here in Ga.! We really think it is pretty mainly due to the fact with the temperatures in the mid 40's today it should melt quickly:happy65:.

We had a group come up from Ga. Peggy and I were riding 2up. We rode through Franklin,NC and got on hwy. 28 to ride to Fontana Village where we were going to stay, Hwy. 28 was 46 miles of a very twisty road. Peggy was really apprehensive about riding the Dragon. If hwy.28 was as bad as it was, there was no way she could do the dragon. Well we rode the Dragon and it was okay, and was a fun ride. Peggy did enjoyed it. We got the patches and pins for the Dragon, but Peggy wanted a patch that said " I survived Hwy.28"

Fairing Dampers and Risers
Sling replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Figured I would post a couple of pictures to show what I did to my risers. 1) I used aluminum bar stock 1"x 1 1/2" long I drilled and countersunk to except an allenhead bolt 8mm x 1.25 2 1/2" long (pic 02 & 03) 2) I drilled and tapped the Baron Riser (pic. 04 & 05) 3) Mounted the bar stock where the handlebars were originally. They press against the Damper material as if the handlebars were still in place (pic. 06) -
Fairing Dampers and Risers
Sling replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I left my dampers where they were. If you look at my accessory pictures in my profile page see picture #4 I drilled a hole in the baron riser and threaded it and mounted a piece of bar stock where the cut out meets the damper works great. -
I'm good with it. Thanks for taking the time to do this for us.

Yes I agrre thanks for the memories. I had forgotten all about Manifold cooking! Back when my boys were younger, we would race gokarts all through the southeast. by the time we got to where we were going we'd be tired and have no time to cook. So we started cooking as we rode to the tracks, and when we got there lunch or dinner would be ready..

I think what we need is a "SARCASM" font that would solve everything. Let me tell you a secret about Eck. He started another thread with a picture from Walmart Well I heard they were his leg's in that picture.:hihi::hihi:

We still ride--just bundle up a bit. As a matter of fact last Saturday the wife and I went for a ride to see how well the new trailer handles .. So we put on 175 miles. We stopped at the lake on the way home, and took some photos. Here is one of Peggy. Trailer handled great. The temps should be back up to normal for around here in Ga. by next week.

Ben, funny you mentioned the USCGC Dallas. My oldest son did five years in the Coast Guard. His first station was St. Ignace, MI and then he was sent down to Charleston for duty on the Dallas from 1999 to 2001. Of course this is not my personal story but one of his....on returning to port with the Dallas, they pulled up to the pier and tied up. Everyone was excited about going on leave but when they got the clearance to go and started to go ashore they heard an "all hands" sounded. Apparently, the ship hit the pier when they docked and put a big gash in the side. The ship was sinking!! It had to be drydocked and repaired. I did have to ask him if he was the newbie in aluminum foil but he assured me it was not but they did send him for some MK punch.

Passing Lights vs No Passing Lights
Sling replied to rumboogy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Took me a while but I finally put them on. I like them because of the extra lights at night, and makes us more visible. I did find 1 good reason for having them, and that is I find that the cages don't pull out in front of me as often.. I'm not saying they all stopped, but it seems that when they see more then 1 light they are not as sure of what kind of vehical it is, so they hesitate. I also think it enhances the look of the bike. And I haven't had any problems with them and i have had them for almost a year now . Hope this helps- 37 replies
