  1. I had to re-solder the CLASS on my '91 3 times before I got it to do what it was supposed to. So don't give up if you're not successful the first time... ARRRGGG!! Also I think the thing operates at about 3 Htz. So count to five every time you push a button....
  2. This sounds neat... Gotta see the pics.. :-) Was there an improvement in the ride in the twisties, and what psi are you running..??
  3. I have 3 RSV's and once they are started in the AM they are good for the day even after sitting for a couple of hours....no choke. However each one has it little quirks... or personality. When setting a choke on one of my 1stGens they are all over the place with different 'choke tricks'.... still personalities... I wouldn't worry about your RSV, she's just a little cold blooded...
  4. Change all the fluids, Drain the tank if there's anything left, check the coolant hoses, New AGM battery, fill the tank with fresh fuel and a can of Sea Foam, and see if she'll fire. An '89 with only 206 miles!! Nice find..... Oh yeah.... Tires....
  5. LOL.... Let us know how that works out for ya....
  6. Lots of talk about V-twin air cooled heat. A few folks have tried this with good results.... JUG FAN
  7. Because you've gotten older and wiser, and finally realize you're not immortal any longer......
  8. Yep, got one of those notices in my mailbox too. Auburn seemed like a long way to ride for a hot dog.. 'Course it's in Z's back yard....,
  9. That's kinda like chicken lips...... :-)
  10. I can't make the International, but how're the trailer ticket sales coming. I'll pony up and buy a few more loosers if it'll help.... :-)

One more thing to consider is since it's running strong up to 3000rpm, it might be caused by one of the valves floating due to weak spring???
  12. What a great post!! Thanks Puc.... and nope haven't been to that pizza place in Lodi... However if anyone is bedding down for the night in Elko Nevada at the Motel 6, across the street there is one of the best pizza places ever....... :-)
  13. You'll need to recharge it with more of that did good old Bakersfield dirt....
  14. And my surgeon feels that he's removed every gallbladder in Sacramento…
  15. Now I am confused.... It looks like pics of a second gen... Maybe the points will work on a first.....???
  16. That was started by Steve 'HDHTR' Dubois after venture west 1 held in Bakersfield ca. The package contained dirt from VW1,and the idea was to spread the dirt on the tarp and take a pic riding over it, post it to the board, and sign the tarp. It was quite popular. I guess after the crash of '06 it sorta got lost in the shuffle, and the last person never started it up again. A few quireys went out looking for the 'dirt' with no one knowing where it ended up. Now we know. I bet Don might like to have it to put in the VR.Org history box.
  17. Yep, I don't think they are?? Sorry 'bout that... I never had to deal with a 1stGen fuel pump failing...
  18. Yep, for those of us located in the 'land of dry rain', I do sympathies. Humidity is a killer. A mesh jacket adds moisture.....
  19. With 1/8th inch tread left you were probably way beyond the wear bars on the tire to begin with.....
  20. Nope, but I do remember cupping my hand just so on the left side of the tank on a 1stGen and creating a venturi effect that actually made the air cooler..... I think????
  21. Stop messing around and replace the points.....
  22. The way that tire looks, the way it's feathered in, it looks like someone took a grinder to it..... What's the rest of the tread look like??
  23. Around here heat can't be avoided, but I've ridden across Nevada twice in 100+ temps. The first time I wore a mesh jacket, and wasn't uncomfortable, but by the time I got back to the barn I was drier than a popcorn fart. Took three days to rehydrate. It could have been serious. The second time I wore a very well vented textile jacket that slowed the air flow but still allowed cooling. Still comfortable, but not dehydrated when I got back. The mesh was in the trailer that was stolen, and I don't miss it a bit. On both trips I drank plenty of liquids. The mesh just wicked way more sweat than was necessary. The idea is to stay cool...not dry. There's no cooling effect when the skin is dry, and when it is dry the body will try to sweat more. Hence dehydration... Keeping dry will feel more comfortable...who likes sweaty clothes??... but it causes more moisture loss. Another thing that should be covered is fluid intake. The first trip is was two large bottles of Desanti every 150 miles. The second was 8oz bottle of Gatorade when stopped to pee, or fuel up. On the first trip I covered 600 miles in 10 hours and didn't need to pee once. The second trip was about 500 miles and about 10 hours and pee'd a lot. Everybody has their own ideas on how to ride in heat. Mine doesn't include a mesh....
