  1. The tanks on these 2-gens have very little tunnel for the backbone at the rear of the tank. MOF if I remember it's almost flat from one side to the other.
  2. The reason to get one of those is to take video's, and it does it very well....even the audio... MOF a lot better than other sub-'c'note cameras I've seen...... The helmet is a nice mount place, but I'd tend to look at some place on the bike, that can be taken off and hand held...?? BTW which model is yours??
  3. There's a couple of plugs that will get dirty occasionally. You can clean them with an electrical spray or plug them in and take them out several times to see if that get's rid of the flutter. If it doesn't do the re-solder.
  4. That's a great little camera Rick. And for the price I think GoPro is in big trouble....
  5. My '99 pump failed at 45,000, and my '07 failed at 80,000
  6. That's a little over kill. You don't need anywhere near that much. The eBayer I dealt with cut it to what I thought I might need Brad. The original size was 15"x36", and I had a lot left over. Probably enough to do a couple of more sets. I think it ran around $25 bucks with shipping. Unfortunately it's been a while and the memory fades. OK I just went into my stash a found the ceramic leftover. The shipper was Randy Mott, 107 E 46th St #14, Garden City Idaho 83714. Here's the kicker... I bought this stuff back in Nov.2010. He may not be dealing in it any longer?? I think 6"x15" would be all you'd need per muffler.... OK I just did a google on the address and he's still in business. Give him a shout.... 7. That's what I've sorta done Puc. Picked up a used one off eBay and re-pointed it... :-) I wonder if those that have replumbed keep one around just in case. Unless they think it'll never fail like the TCI, or Rectifier, or Stator, or audio system??? Does it hum a tune, or at least hum in key??
  8. I may be old fashion but there's something comforting about hearing that click-click when the key is turned to start.
  9. Pretty sure the steel wool will rust and disintegrate fairly quickly. Plus I don't think there's much sound deadening absorbing quality to the stuff. In the video they used rock wool and it didn't last either....
  10. OK.... I need to know?? What's wrong with replacing the points??? Everyone seems to hell bent on replacing the complete OEM that's lasted 40,000 miles, with an aftermarket unit that has to be re-plumbed. So it'll last longer?? I thought 40,000+ was pretty good performance... The points usually run around $25 and is an easy no-brainer job. The OEM pump was used for a reason. So far I don't see any benefit to building a ?? better mouse trap. Unless you just like to tinker, and can't leave anything alone....
  11. Thanks Puc... Maybe someday I'll be as good as you......
  12. Actually it only takes about 6" to wrap around the baffle, and if I remember correctly the baffle is 17" long. I used the sheet at the original thickness when I wrapped, but after thinking about it the stuff can be easily pealed into thinner layers which would make it easier to wrap several times rather than all a once. And then put a couple of bands of masking tape to hold it into place while installing the baffle. The tape will burn off very quickly...
  13. That's Zzysx.... Ed. Not sure if he's related... .
  14. Thanks for the link. Looks like a little more than I'd like to get into. I was hoping that you had found something that would plug and play without any McGuivering. When looking for a set of turn downs I found that Bub's had gone out of business, and you had found a Harley size that would fit.
  15. Gary, this is interesting. Are you saying there's a Harley tip that will fit the Bub's??? If so which one???
  16. Found it on eBay... The deal is the ceramic will not break down as quickly as fiberglass due to higher temp resistance. They use FG when they build them and that's also why they continually get louder with age. When I took my Bub's apart there was one tuft of FG about the size of a quarter behind the baffle. The rest had disintegrated. They were loud and that's why the original owner got rid of them. Once rebuilt they were awesome.... Ceramic
  17. Here's a little more on the pie quest.... Tell me they ain't having fun... :-) And this is the first time I've done a youtube.... take it easy on me....
  18. I repacked a set of Bubb's with ceramic packing and it made a nice 'rumble'. I had the chrome stripped off the tips and had them polished. Looked nice when done.... Black paint would be the cheapest...
  19. Nice report....
  20. Here's a pic of the points box with the part number on it. Do a google for the number and you should get all sorts of hits. Don't pay attention to them not being listed for a Venture. They'll fit.
  21. On Thursday after a hot day in the saddle most of us took a ride to Bob' Ranch House in Etna Ca for some home made pie. Yum!!
  22. :thumbsup2:
  23. The one and only 7 of 9....... She's not quite as fetching as the pic, but she still runs good even after being mistreated. She's back in the barn with a major coolant leak, and.... it looks like she's gonna need a new clutch. She got so hot I don't think there was any viscosity left in the crank oil. I think the discs are fried. Expect the worst and hope for the best!!!!!!!
  24. Venture west is hot, and 7of9 is even hotter. Went on the ride from Yreka up to Happy Camp yesterday. We started out with the temps around 75 dregs at 8:30am. It kept building right up to 112 at one time, but mostly around 110. When I pulled into the space at the motel and turned her off she barfed coolant all over the place. It looks like she might have blown a hose going into the Twinkie. So it's back to the barn, and I'm really glad I decided to trailer her up to VW15 instead of riding. It's supposed to be 72 deg... . In the cab of the pick up!!!
  25. Sounds like SeaFoam.....?
