On boat Stainless I've always used 0000 steel wool. Works for me.... I've tried Nevr-Dull, but have never had much luck with the stuff. The 0000 will work on chrome too.....

Which reminds me.... I've looked a couple of larger trailers in auctions that were designed to haul cars and noticed that in the last 8 feet or so the floor dropped about 6 inches. Didn't know why?? Now I do. To reduce the entry angle. Sometimes the light bulb takes a little longer to go on when getting more mature....

EZ Tool to Check Final Drive
Condor replied to Patmac6075's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Great idea. Actually Yamaha included a plastic dip stick to check the level on the 1stGen the first couple of years. I have one around here somewhere?? -
R1/R6 brake pads.
Condor replied to Huggy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If I'm not mistaken the EBC F252 is the pad you'll need for the R1's.... -
I have one of the newer Knight 209 black powder rifles in 45cal. I've never shot it, but I have all the things that will make it go BOOM!! Decided to use Pyrodex if I ever get motivated...

The Hannigan has a 6' beam, and with the rake kit is 112" long. Most travel trailers are either 8' wide which will give you a 7.5' interior. The new trailers are somethimes 8'6" wide which will give you even more interior room. The problem you have with clearance can be reduced by jacking the nose of the trailer up which will reduce the entry 'hump'. Of course this can only be done with a tow behind. Not a 5th wheel. A lot of trailers lately are riding lower due to the torsion bar suspension which will also reduce the entry hump.

Are you searching for an actual toy hauler, i.e. room for the trike and has a head and kitchen, or just a drop gate trailer?

I used 120/140 grain Nosler spire points in my 264WinMag, and even tho- I thought of it as a long range gun... shoots like frozen clothesline out to 200 yards... most the deer and Antelope were taken between 20-60 yards. Never lost a bit of meat due to bullet fraging. Can't speak for other bullet manufacturers but that's what I experienced with the Noslers..

Nope, haven't shot it yet... Maybe never??? But I put a ton of rounds thru the 264, and it can't be any worse since they are basically from the 375H&H family. 7mm vs. 6.5mm. I gotta agree tho.. When shooting competitive clays I poured a lot of lead out the end of a bbl, and tried a few different guns. Some kicked the snot out of me and others didn't bother me a bit. All of them were high combed. I personally think it has more to do with the gauge, or caliber, being shot and the weight of the gun. The heavier the gun the longer the recoil impulse and the easier it is on the shooter... This new 700 weighs a ton. I was kinda surprised when I picked it up. Maybe I'm just getting old...and weak??? :-)

I did most of my deer and antelope hunting with a custom 264 win mag which has lost when the house was broken into 15+ years ago. I've been looking for another bolt in that caliber for a long time without success sense they're fairly rare. So I picked up a Rem 700ADL in 7mm Rem Mag plus a lot of other 'interesting' rifles. One of my favorites is a Zatava Manlicher in 7x57 mauser. It looks a lot like Don's full stocked that he attached. Butter knife bolt handle, double set triggers, iron sights only...not tapped for scope. 7x57 aka 275 Tingley is a great all round caliber and will handle anything we have here in the US and abroad. But I digress.... Here's one I just picked up last Monday. Remingtom 700BDL Classic in 7mmRemMag . It's interesting... :-)

If your feet are the ones suffering, heat wraps on the headers probably won't help. Air deflectors aren't going to help much either in slow stop and go traffic. Personally if it gets that hot stay home an sit in front of the A/C. If you have to go somewhere take a cage...with A/C

I replaced my A/C last year. It was about time. It was installed in '59. No that's not a typo... I had it serviced about 20 years ago. The A frame was clogged with grunge, and had all the duct work cleaned. It was a Carrier and built like a tank according to the guy that came out and replaced the fan about 10 years ago. Like yours it finally got to the point it wasn't blowing much air....again... so figured it was time to replace. The new unit is a Trane, and it's amazing... it actually cycles when it's 100+ out side. Same thing on the heating side during the winter. Cost?? About $5 grand, but worth every penny....

Have you ever had thoughts of hanging it up on riding?
Condor replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
I understand how you feel Eck. I get bored with just riding. A few years back I think I said that a particular long ride was going to be my last hurrah.... That was about 4 or 5 hurrah's ago. I still enjoy riding around a specific area, but getting there is a PITA. Going across Nevada for the 100th time is torture. So I trailer to where I'm going. A/C's on, SiriusXM is supplying the sounds, and I'm not getting beat up over some boring stretch of real estate, and I'm fresher when I get there. As we get older we just loose stamina. 600 mile days are a thing of the past. 250's are still do-able. I just put together a trike which will be a change, but it's still going to be trailered. Maybe just a change in what you're riding might change your thoughts. -
Where do I go from here??
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not yet Dave... But I visit her every day... :-) I'm still dipping milk shake out of the radiator neck that keeps rising to the surface. That stuff is stickier than all get out. A big ol' rusty flat screw driver gets a lot out. Thought I'd gotten it all when I flushed the radiator, but I guess not?? Didn't see much this morning. Soon.... -
I believe the Venturers board bought the patents, and I have on file a letter from Brent Evens giving quasi permission to make them and share them with their club as they were not willing to sell the patents or the registered name 'TripMasters'. I wonder if they actually have a patent on the product, or just the registered name?? Plastic housings have been made for many years before the V-Pod came along in the auto industry. The pod I have is the one you sold me many moons ago. It actually should be modified to improve the design. And... I kinda like Ponch's better...

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure you said 5G's for an aluminum mold, and in your biz they made them out of compressed something or other that lasted around 100 cycles?? So I gotta ask... What are they running nowdays?? If they're cheap enough maybe there might be some hope yet... :-)
-
Why don't you give us the eBay # and we'll confirm.
-
Another video well done.....
-
No problem. Like a lot of things sometimes a good idea gets put on the back burner. That's where the pod sits. Actually it's on the '99, and the '99 has been sitting. At the time I thought about having them made using the vacuum mold, but the cost for the mold was ridiculously expensive. Lately I've been thinking about having one 'printed', but here it's the initial cost of having it scanned. The printing technology is changing rapidly, and someday it may bring costs down. I ran into a printer at Sam's Club that used... from what I can gather... heated plastic instead of a tub of powdered plastic. Another monkey wrench is with the RSV being discontinued just how much interest would there be to offset the initial cash outlay. I'd certainly hate to have a couple of hundred of these things sitting around for years. So for now it's just going to sit. That's my story and I'm...yada..yada... :-)

Thermostat seal??
Condor replied to bobber's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That seal # fits a 97-2007 V-Max 1200.
