Yeah, but is it Leatherby's quality......

Granted... I just looked at fuel, lodging, and grub.....
-
The last time someone brought up the difference in the exchange rate between the Loonie and the buck, I was just anal enough to do some checking, and found that even with the big discrepancy the actual cash outlay was about the same due to the difference in the prices paid for lodging and fuel in the US. OK not exactly, but dam close. Coming from down under in the US, the Canadian prices eat up any rate savings. Same thing in fuel. The difference in the cost, it being cheaper in the US, makes up for the difference in the dollar. Granted a trip south for our northern neighbors won't be the screaming deal as in the past when the exchange rate was pretty much the same..... My daughter lives in Sault St Marie MI, and the big box stores are still doing great biz with Canadians coming across the bridge... Even with todays exchange rate. I wonder why??

BUMP.... What's happening?????

So I'm surfing cable TV, and I ran across Mecum Auction MC Auction from Las Vegas. If you hurry you can watch too. Finally something on TV worth watching.....

How about 'Nick'??? I think that would be a good name....

You might have to put some tie downs in the floor or mount t-track on the side walls. I have two of my enclosed trailers rigged with t-track, and one has both. It just depends on the size of your trailer?? Floor tie downs are the cheapest way to go...

Yep, I think you ran into the Kung Pow Metric section....

That's sorta like searching for your glasses.... while you're wearing them, or looking for the cell while you're talking on it... Things are going downhill quickly.... I've discovered bulk buying bikes too... I just haven't gotten to that sharing part yet.....

Groan....!! You assumed that the HP stood for Horse Power, and you know what they say about assumed. It stands for High Performance, and the 289 stands for cubic inches. But as an expert in all things Mustang, you knew that... yes?? I really don't give a damn about the horse power, just what it said on top of the motor...... -

Yeah sorry 'bout that. Had small block chevy on the brain. It has a 289HP-FI auto.... I'll edit the post... -
Your office is now dirt Steve... I did rescue the donuts however. It's more than just 'that stuff'. You have no idea.... The last person who went in there to find something hasn't come out in over two weeks... We leave a plate of donuts inside the door every night and they are gone in the morning so I guess he's OK.... That's generally the way I locate everything. I now have 5 compressors...that's how bad it is.....

Transmission noise
Condor replied to Junglejim75686's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
That happens a lot. The idle will increase by turning in that sync screw in the right front off #4 carb, and it can be mistaken for an idle screw by someone that is unfamiliar with syncing the carbs on a 1stGen. What happens is #4 overrides the idle setting on #2 , but it also screws up the sync. I've seen that happen a lot on second owner Ventures... -

Here's a pic of the one I bought my daughter on her 16th. It's a '94 GT 289HP-FI (corrected) auto It's now running around Sault St Marie MI. Great car.... -
So I wonder if I'm not the only one. I need a small something, and find it on the web cheap. It also comes in 100 packs. So I say what the 'H' and buy 100. The I go ahead and fix whatever I'm working on... maybe one or two pieces... and then can't find what I did with the other 98 when I need them again.... Drives me bananas.....

Transmission noise
Condor replied to Junglejim75686's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've never heard of an engine in need a sync causing engine noise. What I have heard, and experienced, is a lot of vibration in the grips when it's slightly out of sync. Way out of sync and the motor will have a hard time staying lit... -
2015 - the way it happened to Tip, Tweeks and me....
Condor replied to cowpuc's topic in Watering Hole
So... is that the end of the story?? I read the whole thing, and all that leading up to a ship doing an about face on an anchor...?? I already know this is true and correct, because I've seen it done in the Movie 'Battleship'..... Maybe it's Puc's writing style...leaving you wanting more.... Or like Paul Harvey... We need the 'rest of the story'.... I can relate to what Puc is talking about. Hitting the wall... My own started right around 65 with the bod getting progressively sorer and weaker. Culminating with colon cancer surgery in '12. Every year I keep saying this years VR West is going to be my last hurrah, and Yreka last June was maybe the deciding factor??? It was not fun, and I don't think I'm up to doing another...... maybe?? I still have a lot of Ventures laying around in various baskets. I guess one of the reasons I keep them is I'm not willing to admit that the clock is ticking... and they are memories... Just maybe I can make a few more in 2016... -
Yep @vzuden is right. Harbor Freight Dave. http://www.harborfreight.com/catalogsearch/result?q=chock I think they're the best bang for the buck on the market....

Just thought I'd add a few remarks since my first post was kinda short. I have trailered 1st and 2ndGens 1000's of miles using a ton of rachet straps with all sorts of configurations, on the side stand and upright. I even used a Canyon Dancer for a while off the handle bars which I don't recommend.. I do recommend attachments on any unsprung part of the bike. The bike has suspension...let it work. Compressing the springs doesn't help at all. Some rigging took me 15 to 20 minutes to rig, with a lot of apprehension about it falling over before getting it secure. The pics I posted is the absolute best way to tow a bike on a trailer. If you don't own a trailer get the chock anyway. It will work holding a 2ndGen upright while working on it in the garage. It doesn't have to be screwed down permanently in the trailer. The whole set up is a ride on, get off. 2 rachets with long straps to secure.. found these at Sam's Club.. 4 for 20 bucks... Undo the straps and back off. Not even break a sweat.. One thing I might add is when backing off do it in first gear with the lever pulled in. What happens is when backing off down the ramp in neutral, and the motor off, is the front tire will loose traction as the weight transfers to the rear, and will skid down the ramp gate. Makes things rather exciting. With it in gear just feather the clutch if it starts to skid. The rear tire has plenty of traction. That's my 2 ¢... Sorry for the long post.

Class Air Pressure
Condor replied to kapebretoner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you set the CLASS at high/auto in the US it will put 17psi in the front and 71psi in the rear..... -
I've heard that before.... but take issue with it. Good deals come from curiosity and looking around corners. I get complaints from friends all the time that they never get the great deals I've come across... as they sit on their duffs waiting for something to magically appear in front of them holding a sign saying 'take me'... So waiting ain't all it's cracked up to be.... Ya gotta move....
