Prayers for Black Owl
Condor replied to Freebird's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
The Power of Prayer is a great thing. Laughter is also a great healer. I'm going to keep sending the bird email jokes.... and praying. -
Yep... Gotta love 'm. I also have a lever and Mannlicher fetish.... When I was in my early 20's I worked in a sporting goods store, and they had a Mannlicher Schoenar that I fell in love with, but couldn't afford. I finally found one at an auction right in my back yard. It's a Schoenar copy by Brno. So here's one more that started it all..

Gotta agree with you Bill. I love them... All except that damn OEM safety.. :-) Here's another that just joined the fleet..

Yeah, ya never know... I may keep one for my escape vehicle..... http://cast-aways.com/images/OldCodger.jpg

I don't want you to suffocate so don't hold your breath.. But... just to tease you and everyone a bit..?? :-) Lemme see A 84/83/86VR, plus an '87VR, '90VR, '91VR, 93VR in 1stGens, and a '99RSV, '04RSMV, 07RSV...in 2nd's Some are 90% rolling chassis parts bikes. Others need TLC, and some are riders... I might also add that I have a garage full of 1stGen parts... HOWEVER this is not a sales ad. The flood gates will open in the spring... :-) Maybe Yamaha will have a new bagger out by then?? But don't hold your breath on that either....

Happy Trails to you both.... I'm not into Milsurps, but know a lot of guys who are. I do have a run of Winchester 22 pumps from around that time...

JPG would be best....

Yep, she's gonna go too. I rode her up in The Dalles OR in '14, and last summer in Yreka. Great ride, but blew the water pump in Y and had to trailer her home. When I rebuilt the pump it had a bearing noise on startup, and the bearing was the only thing I hadn't replaced. So picked up another very lo-mile pump on eBay for less than the cost of the bearing, and she's been sitting ever since. Next spring when it starts to warm up I'll get into it again. Never thought of a value. I'll cogitate a bit more on that next year. Maybe eBay or maybe Barrett-Jackson Reno??

This is what started it all.... The first is the original, and the second is one I finally located just recently. The hard part was finding a look alike and the same caliber...

I've stopped collecting Ventures. As time creeps on, along with advancing age, I just can't get turned on like I used to. So... What to do for entertainment?? Oh he!!, I know... collect guns. I had my custom FN Mauser ripped off a long time ago. After looking for it over 25 years, at Gun Shows and local dealers, I finally gave up searching for it . In the meantime I did find a lot of very nice custom FN's on the market. I bought a few that were affordable. The others that were worth a ton by their sellers I admired but passed... I think they didn't really want to sell, just show-n-tell... Anyway over the past few years I've amassed a nice little collection of Mauser's. I buy them because they are well made.. the term custom can be loosely defined.... and a little odd or unique. But they must be high quality, and well crafted. I now own about 30-35.. lost count.. of really nice examples, and they are stored in a couple of new gun vaults. So far I haven't shot any, but I really don't care. I just enjoy the artwork... And they will do nothing except go up in value. I still have 8 or 9 Ventures, and the way things are going they'll be up on the block probably next spring/summer.....

Canada to Cancun on the 250$ Venture - The full ride report

One of the things I like about Mex is the way they play with light at night. Thanks for the pics, and great pics by the way.... -
I have a Nolan N103 NCOM with all the buttons and whistles. Unfortuantely I've never had a chance to try it out... Bought the like new helmet, and all, off eBay a couple of years ago. $75 bucks Buy It Now. Almost broke my hand hitting the BIN button... My plans were to sync the helmet to my Garmin BT GPS that included voice directions, an MP3 player, and it in turn could be sync'd to my cell phone... I have used the Garmin sync'd to the phone, and it works great. Alas that was the plan, but like all things lately it's sitting on the back burner. One of these days... :-)

Me too.... That old '83 used to haul a$$......

It's the economy...and most of the early callers are flippers. They want to steal something and resell. Give it a couple of times running the ad. The last time I sold a bike on CL it was the third posting, and the buyer was tickled pink..... :-)

I think it kinda looks like a Gen I with out the trunk. Gotta love those inline 6's... Yamaha dropped the ball again..... Where the heck is a FI V6 when you want it...??

Canada to Cancun on the 250$ Venture - The full ride report

Really enjoying your posts, and your FAQ post was spot on. Brings back good memories. We drove down the BAJA to Cabo, and tented on the beach along the way, and the natives are great peeps... One problem we did run into was the availability of diesel. Gas was readily available, but when it came to diesel we had to top off in every major pueblo just to make sure. Once we had to go to the city maintenence yard to find it. We've been to Cancun and PV, and before we went I'd buy peso's either from a money broker, or at an exchange kiosk before crossing the boarder. Once, went we went to PV, it was 360;1. You can become a milionaire really quick. They will take dollar$ but the change gets a little foggy. On the way back to the US we stopped in Encinada for dinner at a Chinese Resturant. Two of us had the seafood gormet meal for three and cost $100P @ 13:1, or about $7.50US. It took two tables to handle all the different courses. With some things I didn't even know what they were, but they tasted great!! Keep those posts coming... -
I've taken some corners pretty damn hot in the past and I have never ever scraped a floorboard. I may have come close, but never made contact. If it takes more than that I'm not interested. Scraping a board or peg or whatever and live to tell about it is pure plain luck. Any time a part of the frame hits the pavement it also lifts the bike and takes weight off the contact patch of the tire and it will decrease traction. The end result isn't pretty..... My 2¢

Same thing happened to my '99 at 17vdc. No amps. Replaced the rectifier with an after market Indian Rec. I picked up off Dano here on the board. He found a batch of them and offered them to VR.org members a number of years ago. They are still being made, and might still be available from here: http://roadstercycle.com/#2 way pic http://roadstercycle.com/images/CrimpandGoirf.jpgCrimp & Go Kit $128.95 The newest kit from Jack is the Strip, Crimp & Go. I am not an advocate of using your old harness to upgrade to a Mosfet regulator or the new SH775 but some people need this and who I am to say no. If your harness is on a new bike, or is in tip- top condition then this kit will work great for you. You just cut off your old stator and battery connectors and strip the wires and install the heat shrinkable connectors on your stock wiring making sure you have good solid crimps. There is no directions in the kit. You just strip, crimp and go. This kit is fast and easy but you have to do it right. 12" wires on both.Remember that stator leads can go any which way there is no polarity. Also, the wire I use is tin covered copper marine grade wire which solders awesome. It is not aluminum. You can not order extra wire length for the Crimp and go kit. Also take a look at my LED voltage monitors, they are awesome. $128.95 + $6.50 S/H

Are you getting tired of TV commercials that Stretch The Truth?

At 10 feet I don't think it makes much difference.... Pressure increase..if any.. would be minimal... -
Dang!! That means I'm gonna get up at 4am instead of 5....

Someone may have already said it, but I can't believe you guys watch all that crap... I record everything and fast forward thru the garbage.... Except Fox Business News where William Devaney keeps hawking gold... If the poop does hit the paddle I guess it can be melted down for bullets.... :-) http://cast-aways.com/CONDORPICS/Sam-Side.jpg -
It's amazing the prices they have on these things. I want the steam locomotive... $59.00...really??

I still run 7 and had sorta the same issue with updates. I have auto turned off and would update periodically manually. I started getting update installs that weren't successful, and finally everything went fubar. It took three days running the MS cleaner, and another 2 to run the updates, but when over everything was back to normal..... so far.. ??
