  1. Needs to be a little tighter, it didn't stop the leak....
  2. A little after the fact here, but when storing a bike out in the elements and expecting high winds, it's best to have it on the side stand. If the wind comes from the left it's harder to lift an 800# bike, and if it comes from the right it will blow up and over. When it's sitting on the center stand it's basically balanced and can be blown over very easily from either direction... My 2¢
  3. If you're putting all your body weight on the center stand pad and it's still a bear to rock the bike back then maybe a previous owner had lowered the front, or the fork springs have just about given up the ghost... Try installing a set of Progressives and I bet it'll get easier... :-)
  4. I replaced the OEM on 7 of 9 with a 10" dark. I got tired of bobbing over/under the top lip and I think the 10" looks cooler... I sit pretty tall in the saddle so always get a little buffeting but not to the point where it's annoying...
  5. If you're still locked down and practicing social distancing... Here's something that hopefully should be entertaining... RIA has worked it's way into being the premier rare gun auction house over the years, and they do a great job of presenting the lots for upcoming auctions. So if you're broke like me,... here's a little free entertainment...
  6. Probably getting harder to find since the 2nGen demise, but they're still out there... If you're in a hurry a few folks have just cut the heel arm off and McGivered a toe shift. I'm a big fan of the toe shift for much the same reason you are.. 15's.. Been lucky to find one for all three of my 2ndGens... Good luck on your search... Ooop's Just noticed your riding an 87VR. There should be a ton of them out there for 1stGens... Never cared for boards on any of my 1st's...
  7. Thanks!! It helps when her dad was the previous owner. Pop-Pop used to be a member here a while back and very active in PGR. I think he was the socal PGR Prez for a while... So when I bought the bike I asked him if Jeri would autograph it for me. And she did... She even posted it on her Facebook Page... :-) PS: Sorry for the Hi-Jack Puc... We really need to see videos of the project... Love dem oldies...
  8. I hear ya Puc. Not many of us left... I went out and patted 7 of 9 on the butt, and got to thinkin'..which is mighty dangerous.. I just became a 7'T'9 myself on Monday... Damn that's old...but lots of good times!!
  9. Rather than a sand..bead blaster I'd invest in a soda blaster and ultra sonic cleaner to preserve surfaces. Neither one will damage the metal.. ,Specially the aluminum parts....
  10. OK.... I'm in. What the heck did it start it's life as?? Indian? Henderson?? Heck Wadda I know.....
  11. Most of mine are gone due to age... Here's a trick to use when touring long distance. Spray PAM on the inners. Bugs won't dry and stick to the surface and will slide up out of the way. Take a paper towel and they wipe right off. This also works on the lights and fairing... Not on the windshield.. Save that for Lemon Fresh Pledge...
  12. The above are all great suggestions, but on the bar issue I'm horizontally challenged myself and after doing a lot of research I found a set of Khrome Werks 10" bobbers to fit the bill. They'll get the grips off your thighs and raise them forward a bit. The bend fits the dash of a second gen perfectly... IMHO....https://www.denniskirk.com/5900142.sku?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&gclid=CjwKCAjwzMbLBRBzEiwAfFz4gWWKA7CM6lIq1fDp0qj9SKKgzViE1_ONbu4x8v8aG2_nB9WippOcUxoCkEgQAvD_BwE&ad=45713349397
  13. I wish I still had my wife to tell me what to do over the last 8 years... Consider yourselves very lucky to have someone that keeps you motivated and headed in the right direction... :-) I think I'll go grab a beer now and try to find something to do...
  14. I have my Pacifico in the fridge chillin' out....
  15. Very Nice!!!
  16. One of the best Country Western Shows of all time at Harrahs in Tahoe was Waylon and Willie back in the 70's... And.... ya forgot ol' Johnny Cash in black.. And you're right... Black is Bad Ass...
  17. Glad to see you back in the fold my friend... I triked my 2004 RSMV and now getting too old to ride it...but still pat it on the butt every once in a while. Gotta see some pics... :-)
  18. Never been layed off in my life, but I have told a couple of my bosses to take this job and shove it.. That was back in my yoot.. After the last one I tried a few different trials at being self employed. The last one ended up lasting 18 years. Then I just changed the inventory and it's still active, but not as much as I become ancient .. When folks asked me what I did I just tell them I buy things and sell things. They just nod their head and that seems to work.. BTW I haven,t been able to tell the boss to take this job and shove it 'cause he's always right. ;-)
  19. A few years ago I picked up an 'O' Ring kit from Harbor Freight. Cheap, and seems to have just about every size O ring up to about 25mm in it. I've used it to find several needed rings. Worth the money and a time saver... https://www.harborfreight.com/397-piece-metric-o-ring-assortment-67580.html?_br_psugg_q=o+ring
  20. Now that the heat issue has been brought up, I used to own an R100/7 Beemer with a Vetter for about a year. During the summer months I never noticed any heat while running around town or on the road. I know a 1000cc's is a far cry from 1800, but if they could keep the 100 cooled down maybe they could with the 1800 as well?? Also I never had an issue with how it sat. Very comfortable for me.. The only issue I did have was the damn thing wanted to turn over because of all the torque when I rolled on the throttle.... my 2¢
  21. Brings back some memories. After afternoon college classes and on the way home I spotted a man laying along side the road unconscious. He looked like he was homeless. Pretty disheveled.. It was colder that a well diggers a$s and he only had a light shirt and pants on. So I grabbed my 'really' nice down jacket and covered him with it. The firetruck and ambulance arrived and hauled him off. Somebody else must have called?? Anyway I never saw the jacket again. Hope he liked it.. :-)
  22. I've learned to never say never.. 'Cause every time I do I get bit in the A$s. Butt here's my thought's on the subject... The '82 may have existed only in Japan as a beta model. Just like the '84 model labeled as an '83, or the '94's which were actually a few left over '93 models and released in Europe as '94's... He said ducking bobbing and weaving...
  23. Fuel starvation... Pull the petcock and check the standup filters over the standups....
