Oil leak out of water pump?
Condor replied to superdrizzle's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
From the pics to me it looks like the bottom hex is where the oil is coming from, and maybe it needs nothing more than a crush washer to stem the leak. A lot like the bottom hex on the middle gear cover..... -

Canada to Cancun on the 250$ Venture - The full ride report
Condor replied to jfman's topic in Watering Hole
It does go crazy every so often. The first time my wife and I went to Puerta Vallarta I bought $300 worth of pesos before we left, and I ended up with $100,000 Pesos My money guy said something was going to happen to the Peso, but he wasn't sure what. Right after that they printed the Neuvo Peso, and the old stuff was wall paper. Luckily we got back home before it happened, and pasted what we had left in a scrap book. I still think the printed Peso is one of the prettiest monies anywhere. -

That about $2.90US. The exchange rate is right around 10:1.... Way back we stopped in Ensinada for dinner at a Chinese resturant before coming back to the US. We ordered the gourmet seafood dinner for three, and there were only two of us. There was so much stuff they had to bring over another table to hold it all, and I ate things I wasn't quite sure of their origin but it was good. The entire bill came to 750NP. That works out to $7.50. I left a 250NP tip. -
I'm a 'T' shirt kinda guy, and have a couple that go back to Kitchner in '07, but one of my prized wall art in the Cave is the one I picked up at VW14. Here's a pic....

A little add on to my above post. Because of the pain, I decided to give glucosamine tablets a shot. Plus picked up a Tommy Copper compression knee sleeve. I'm not sure which one helps the most with the pain, but at least they're working. The sleeve gives a sort of instant relief and the glucosamine seems to be working over the long run. At least I can get buy without the cane for short walks. For the long treks around gun shows or sportsmans expos it's definately cane or walking stick time or I'm crippled up by the end of the day. For the state fair it's going to be the mobility scooter. I have one that I bought for the wife before she past.. never thought I'd be using it...??

Yep... Me too Gary.... Right knee, the cane, and all. I've been fighting with the HMO about doing an arthroscopy. The Doc originally gave me a choice of Cortisone shots or a knee replacement. I said BS because the knee still had padding and not bone on bone osteo-arthritis. I also asked to speak to an orthopedic surgeon about an arthroscopy. Then he told me he had talked to them, and they said I needed to loose weight... More BS... So we're going to war in a few weeks. Here's a link to some info. It's basically an hour out patient procedure. http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=a00109

A while back @cowpuc posted a video about slow speed maneuvering and using the gyro effect of the engine to keep the bike upright. Maybe he can repost it??

Jake Wilson generally has a good selection of E3's. Front and rear. That's where I've picked up my last 3 sets.... https://www.jakewilson.com/p/3783/73303/Dunlop-Roadsmart-III-Rear-Motorcycle-Tire

I'm sure she could. I've been thinking about taking the one that I have off and sending it to her to use for dimentions. It's just getting off my a$$ and doing it....

The Trunk bib originally came from Hopnel many moons ago. I don't think Nanci makes them, but if not, she should... They are kinda rare. Besides the one in the picture, and the one I have on my '99, I can think of only one other. On Easy Rider's RSMV. I found mine on eBay many years ago and haven't seen one since... And I've been looking.... Need one for the '07 and one for the '04.

Seat covers
Condor replied to Johnnycyclone's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Might be worth looking into a bit more.. The Corbin I have now would cost $325 to have it recovered by the factory. My concern would be that it's made out of the same material as the original, and that they use the same or better thread... A thin material would look OK for a while, but after being exposed to the elements it would soon loose shape and start to fall apart. -

Dang... I wish they made them for Corbin/Yamaha as well. I have one I picked up off eBay that has a good pan and foam, but the cover is toast... -

Yep, I agree. The wrinkles will come out after a few days of handing. Right now we just wanted to get it up...we're supposed to have another front rolling in tomorrow. It didn't take long for a few other things to join in,,,,

The canopies you buy in Canada are built stouter than those south of the boarder for obvious reasons. I bought a King Canopy about 15 years ago from Sam's Club for $200. the sides are gone, but it's still going strong... I thought the Carson would be the same.. Not so..
-
So last year I picked up one of those 10x20 Carson garage/canopies to keep the scoots out of the weather. The thing lasted about 6 months before coming apart in a couple of windy storms last fall. A total waste of money. So the 2ndGens ended up out in the elements... although covered... for the last 3-4 months. I finally couldn't stand it anymore and went out and picked up a new one.... It's a Shelterlogic and ran right at $600 bucks with shipping to my local Home Depot.. There were others in the 1200-1300 hundred range that were built like tanks. There was one I really liked for $600, but the shipping ran more that the price of the thing. So here are a few pics of the 'girls' snuggled into their new home. :-)

Here's one I've always liked. http://cast-aways.com/images/chopper%20(Small).jpg

I have a small pencil sized LP torch that I use to heat up the screw head. It makes removal much easier....

With nothing on the trailer I can pick up the tongue and move it around, and I'm no spring chicken any longer.. So it's pretty well balanced and not that heavy..... Just enough to keep it tracking when empty..

Fuel pump or fuel relay
Condor replied to SpencerPJ's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I've never had a 1stGen fuel pump apart, but if it's anything like a 2ndGen the pressure cut off is mechanical and part of the point set. It may be getting stuck every once in a while due to old age??...
