  1. Don't get me wrong, I do know all about installing apps on a phone. I just don't find a use for lots of them... My kids are a different story... :-) Solitaire, NOAA weather, FOX news, alarm clock and timer, plus a calendar to remind me of birthdays and I'm covered. I just don't live on the thing... However.... getting back to my original post.. I don't get robo or sales calls, and I don't do a thing to block them. So I must not be doing something wrong???
  2. All that other stuff is so much Greek to me.. I have a 5x7 yellow pad next to the computer and a pencil that takes care of shopping lists....and to-do lists..
  3. What am I doing right?? I read about folks having big problems with robo calls, and I get maybe one a month if I'm un-lucky. When I do I set the phone down and let it play til it ends itself. I think?? it's because I only use the phone for calling and family texting. It's an Android smart so it'll do a lot more than that, but I don't surf. Play solitare when waiting to see the Doc and no on line games. The rest of the family have robo problems, but they are more savvy when it comes to these new phones.... Sometimes being old and slow has it's advantages....
  4. Here's kinda a plan..... :-) http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg315/mickeyslist/hotrod-mac.jpg
  5. Red does have merit.... Looks Racy.. In the daytime I don't think it matters...but at night?? :-) I just bought an LED flashlight with the money I saved..
  6. Just wishful thinking on my part Annie.... I'm not good for much of anything with this screwed up knee.... Ya gotta do the canyon even if it's nothing more than driving to the village and back out. There's one Holy Moly!! view site on the way in that give you a lasting impression. Don't forget the camera....
  7. On it's way Bob.... :-)
  8. Did a Google on the info and found THIS one at Home Depot. Think I need one....??? Dangit!! Have one on it's way to my front door. $60 via Paypal. Free shipping. Now is the time to get organized....
  9. I'm not sure what you mean by pretty cheap. I just did a search on ebay for one and they seem to be in the $70 buck range. MOF there's one on there right now. MANUAL Since the '84 has a unique one year only choke control they might be even rarer than the other 1stGens... Since they're going on 33 years old you may want to jump on it.... :-)
  10. Man I'm having sympathy pains just looking at the pics... OUCH!! From what you described it sounds like a typical high side. The rear brake on these bikes are touchy have had a tendency to lock up, and I'm thinking the brake was dragging and overheated. The end result was the lockup.... My 2¢ Anyway Rick heal quick and glad you're still with us... Prayers up!!
  11. Assuming that the new bike is not just going to be a converted Star VTwin, and the fun in contemplating what it's going to look like after dissecting the stealth pics, the one thing nobody seems concerned about is....... The price$$$. If it is what everyone is hoping for, will they be able to afford it, or will Yamaha price themselves out of the market?? The only way I can see a new Venture making it would be if it were radically different and not just a re-schmooze of an existing bike. To be successful Yamaha needs to create their own new niche market. Marketing is a tricky thing and I hope that Yama-Mama gets it right...
  12. Las Vegas....??? Hmmm??
  13. Hope they decide to bring out one model in a trike... V6 rules... !!!
  14. I did the MKII forks, rotors, and R6 caliper swap on my '83. Never thought about swapping out the lines?? Huge improvement in braking without it.
  15. Exciting Times..... But too old to do anything about it... http://cast-aways.com/images/OldCodger.jpg
  16. With 9 VR's I have had a lot of experience with covers, and think I've tried them all at one time or another. Dowco's are decent covers, and I have one on my 2ndGen Trike. A little pricey but OK. The best ones I have run into are the Cycle Sak, which I'm pretty sure is out of biz, and the private label Cycle Gear HDs. The CG's can be found on sale for $50-$60 bucks and have a 5 year guarantee. Until lately all my bikes have been out in the weather, but hey it's California weather... I've replaced a couple under warrantee...over the counter due to UV damage.. after a couple of years. All covers left outside will get damaged by UV. The good ones will last 2-3 years. ElCheapo's (eBay/china) will go in a summer. However.... if you just want a dust cover, and the scoot is parked in the garage, they work great. They pack small and are good for those weekend rides and overnighter's in a motel parking lot... Another good use is as a sacrificial cover over the pricey cover during the summer months. But for the ultimate protection and price get a Cycle Gear if you plan on leaving the scoot outside.... My2¢ PS: The Cycle Gear XL will fit both the 1st and 2ndGen's...
  17. We have a guy here in town that polishes for a livin'.... A lot of custom car builders use him. On the '83 I took him the covers, and turned him loose. They came out looking like new.... Cost me $20 bucks per cover.
  18. When I looked at that first pic all I could think of was Flash Gordon with a lit 4th of July fountain stuck into the engine to make it look like it was flying thru space trying to catch the Evil Emperor Zurg.... I bet this one's going to one-up old Flash... :-)
  19. Hope it works out for you Bubber. My right knee is a mess with floating cartilage and bone spurs, and my Doc keeps talking about a replacement, but I ain't buying it. The x-rays show that there's still padding between the joint so I'm voting for arthroscopy. Beside at my age a little repair job will probably last me a life time... My late wife had a replacement and so did my Son-in-law. Both had post surgery problems. If they had been successful I probably would have the replacement done, but for my size knee's they probably don't even have a replacement that would fit. Good Luck
  20. Maybe... But the Marine Interstate that I replaced was labeled as a starting battery and rated in amps??.... I guess the question would be is... how long will an amp last at a particular load?? Confusing... So I did a little poking around and found this: The standard BCI CCA rating is at 0 degs. F (about -18C) whereas Marine Cranking Amps are at 32 degs.... Deep cycle batteries are generally rated in amp-hours at a C/20 discharge rate, which means 1/20 of the battery capacity for 20 hours until the battery reaches 1.75 volts per cell.
  21. I believe the EXT18 DEKA's, for the 1stGen's, are rated at 330 cca's. A little higher than the EXT20L, and it's probably because of the height as it's taller than the 20 so slightly larger plates??. But who's quibbling over a few cca's... :-) BTW the 20 will fit in the 1stGen's and give a little more room for another do-dad.... I just find it strange that the industry has gone to an amp rating rather than the old CCA. The old Interstate that I pulled out of the boat was rated at 1000 amps. So it's been going on for a while...
  22. COOL.....
  23. Good Info... So I do a DEKA Lowes google and the first thing that pops up is a 1000amp Marine battery. I just bought an El Cheapo marine from a local store to get things started on the boat project... go figure!! So Lowes will be my first stop when it comes time to put in some real cajones batteries... Thanks for the heads up George... I wonder how amps equates into CCA's??
  24. Got the upholstery for the most part tossed overboard, and the engine briefly kicked over and it sounded healthy. We drained the fuel tank (27gallons) about half way and added two cans of Sea Foam, and the kids now have full tanks in their cars. It's coming along...
