  1. Here's just a thought on the parts. Would making them out of 3D plastic and then could using the plastic part to make molds for investment casting be feasible?? During my stint with Ithaca Gun we switched from machined parts to investment casting, and every part in every shotgun was interchangeable. No more hand fitting if a part needed to be replaced. I wonder what the cost would be on a small batch?? The question also rears it's ugly head, is the conversion patented, and by selling you the plans was it for a one-time use?? Lots of possible legal snags... 2¢ Ka-ching...
  2. I thought I was wrong once... but I was wrong....
  3. Chicken Strips is a very old term and I'm surprised that Puc thought it was in reference to Micky 'D's... Regardless of what folks think they are restricted to the geometry of the scoot. Some of the things might be.... The floorboards?? The rear axle (big cajones here)?? Or the composition of the tire?? You can only go so far before scrapping something. Wanna find out your Chicken Strip potential?? Hold a straight edge from the widest point of your scoot to the back tire. That will tell you the max lean, and also the max strip.. Anything less and your CHICKEN!!
  4. I'm going to toss a monkey wrench into this thread. First off most posters so far are voicing their opinions, and what they think are the federal laws without taking into consideration that there are also state laws that restrict gun transactions. I live in California...need i say more?? I hold an FFL3/COE C&R license which basically gives me certain 'rights and privileges' above a US Citizen in order to carry on my hobby of collecting guns, but I can not make a living...or profit... from 'dealing in firearms. To understand what an FFL1 business goes thru it takes a Philadelphia Lawyer to keep everything on the up and up with the federal laws. Let's just say except for a few states it takes a lot of paper work before anyone can walk out the door with a gun... Cash'n'carry days are long gone... Except for a few FFL3 instances, all firearm transactions must go thru a FFL1 dealer. Either as a PPT.. Private Party Transfer.. or a DROS.. Dealer Record of Sale... with a 10day waiting period. http://www.cast-aways.com/CONDORPICS/Sam-Side.jpg
  5. I can see where you're coming from Randy, But re-caming a V6 to give more bottom end grunt to push, and sometimes pull, around 900+lb's is more relaxing on the road then being a minimalist.... Horse power and torque are always more relaxing when racking up the miles no matter what you're riding or driving... V6 technology has been around for a number of years now. They last longer, give better fuel economy, and generally don't need fixing if taken care of. But to each his own... The 1stGen's were.. and still are.. great bikes... :-)
  6. Speaking of motors..and I mentioned this once before.. how about a water cooled frame mounted 2400cc F.I. V6 based on the V-Max 1700cc V4. If BMW and Honda can stuff an inline 6 in theirs.. a V-six would be a piece of cake... Frame mounted fairing. Analog speedo/tach/oil/temp. LCD everything else. Bagger... That would set the bike world on it's ear. Lead instead of follow... They did with the '83VR. I guess they're more interested in selling piano's..... My 2¢
  7. So my younger brother Tom built and drag raced a '64 Ford Galaxie back when we were both a bit younger. He eventually sold it. His son... my nephew... found this video on . It's Tom's old Galaxie. The decals in the passenger side rear window are the proof in the pudding... So where was the video shot?? In Sweden..... So ya never know?? I've often thought about a few of the american muscle cars that I've owned in the past and wonder if they're still around or have been re-purposed as a GoldWing?? :-)
  8. Yep... Gimme a 1700 FI V4 any day over a V-Twin... Weight??.. Horse Pucky!! They did it because it was cheaper to build, could call it a Venture, and raise the retail..
  9. With my '83 I'd get 37-38 mpg on the slab, and 50 mpg in the mountains and staying out of 5th gear. 5th gear and wind resistance are your enemy when it comes to mpg. High R's in 2nd-3rd-and 4th are your friend. Works on my second gens too.... only about 10mpg less... My 2¢
  10. Here's a pic of the A$$ end of my '91. It may help??
  11. So when are they going to be in the dealers?? I will go look at one, and it will be water cooled when I'm finished....
  12. That's my thinking too Chuck. An 1850cc air cooled is gonna kick off enough heat to have a BBQ.... Don't cruise Main St. in Sturgis.. :-) They haven't done anything different than a bunch of other manufactures have already done. You'd be better off picking up a used Stratoliner and making it your's.... Electronics are cheap and big profit items. Now if they had stuffed a re-cam'd water-cooled FI V-max 1770 in there they would have had a winner.... I do like the smooze styling, but it's not worth $25K. I pity the poor Y dealers that are required to buy one of these for the showroom. Give it a year and there are going to be a lot of bikes selling at cost... MY 2¢
  13. Strike one.... Vtwin....They lost me, but who cares?? $25K - $27K It's a sad day in mudville....
  14. Yeah, but I'm gonna see it at 4pm.... Youse guys have to wait until 7....
  15. ok 4 WHEELS AND A mOTEL 6
  16. Heck I used to drive off my '83 all the time. Lean back and put some weight on the rear tire and 'tweek' the clutch. Been doing it on the '99 too.
  17. LOL!! That reminds me of traveling down CA I-5 in the summer time... The Harris Ranch cattle feeder lot is located right next to the freeway, and during the summer there's no escaping the odor. 80 mph is not fast enough to get thru it holding your breath.... A genuine gas attack... Which also reminds me...Traveling South on Hwy99 there used to be a sugar cane plant in Livingston that dumped their silage in a big open field next to the highway... During the heat of the summer you couldn't breathe passing by the fomenting sugar cane. Take a breath and you die.. :-) So..where am I going with this?? It proves gas attacks can happen anywhere. You don't need gravel roads...
  18. Puc I know you're a 'Rollin' Stone', but in your condition would ya go stand in a cold shower for half an hour?? It's one thing to go on an adVenture that's fun and enjoyable, but upstate New York doesn't sound like a good place pitch a tent for the next 2-3 days. If ya do go maybe ya could hang a Bongobobs and stay dry??
  19. Whoda thunk?? You're more than kind Bob... Let's try back in the late 40's.... One more thing I have in the memory bank. As kids we'd take off and be gone all day. The only time I knew that dinner was on and it was time to come home was when Dad would whistle... and he could whistle very loud... Try that today....
  20. Yep... Grew up in East Amherst, NY, and back in them days it was in the country. Not to far away from Bongobob's. I imagine now-days it's all condos?? But boy the memories I have stored are priceless... Eating warm tomatoes off the vine in the garden, jumping out off a beam in the barn into a pile of hay, stuffing our face with 5 day old pastries destined for the hogs, churning milk, parking the tractors under a tarp and over a hole full of stall muck and covered with dirt to keep them from freezing during the winter, ice skating on a pond in the winter, bucking hay in the fall, coming home from church at night with fresh fallin' snow in the front yard.... and the stillness over everything that came with it, watching the first TV in town out in the back yard so all the neighbors could watch too, filling a wash tub with cat fish and having a corn and catfish feed for the neighborhood. And it goes on... Those were the days my friend...
  21. OUCH!!!!! Hope she has very few 'morning after' aches and pains. Coulda been a lot worse...
  22. That looks like a great place to tuck all the wiring for the Voyager Kit and the trailer on the '04RSV. Right now it's all hanging out in the wind... Thanks for the link. Before I check out I may have to install one.
  23. I've run just about every OS since Windows 95. Now I'm a Win7/Chrome kinda guy and since going that route I haven't had the issues I was experiencing with I.E.. I also run CCleaner to keep things tidy... So far so good....
  24. I haven't rendered down any Witches lately but I'm sure someone will come up with a 'brew'....
