Don't know, but drain out enough to get the level down to where it's supposed to be and run it around for a while to see if the smoking habit goes away.....

Baker Air Wings
Condor replied to CrazyHorse's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well, I'm horizontally challenged, with a 35" inseam, so I guess getting to the pegs comfortably shouldn't be an issue. I'd just hate to punch holes in the fairing and find out that the wings are in the way for riding on the pegs. -

Thanks Rick. That'll help a bunch when I get around to mounting them. I wonder tho.. Will the wings get in the way when trying to use the highway pegs up front?? Anybody?? -
I just picked up one of the Cobra 38ST's. It does have the jacks for speaker and mic. Bought it a week before VWIII but it never showed in time to bring it along. Just going to velcro wrap it to one of the risers. Can't really speak about performance because it's been sitting on the desk since it arrived, but it seems to have a lot of features and looks like a quality unit.

Can anybody post a couple of pics on a 1stGen? -
I did that once.... Then I started turning it to off everytime I got off the bike, and on when I started it. Now it's automatic, it's just one of the things 'I do to start the scoot.. Haven't had a problem since. 'Nother thing I think it might be a good thing and keep the switch from corroding from non-use, and really leaving you stranded.??? I guess>>??

Turning left on a red when the light won't change.

I picked up something similar at the local BMW dealership....hey it's OK to look.... The thing used a zip-tie and the installation instructions said to put it on the lowest bart of the frame. I stuck mine on my centerstand and so far haven't had to wait yet. On the way over to the dealer I ran into 2 lights that didn't want to cooperate. -
Small Intermittent Coolant Leak
Condor replied to 91nwl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Up in Susanville at VWIII we had a couple of scoots that this happened to. Mine included, and it's had never happened before...or since. Seems to happen during a cold night when the motor cools down, and it's quite common. Start it up and it goes away. Fred gave a technical explanation on it, and it wasn't something to be super concerned about just as long as it was a small leak, and was intermitant. -
I donno, I run premium because in my mind it runs cooler due to better burning. The difference in price is not an issue when taking on 3-4 gallons, and I figure it's not going to hurt the motor running it, so why not....

They were originally from Atascadero Ca, but moved to Shoshone ID via Las Vegas Nev. My daughter and David are in the home construction biz, and own a Dry Wall Company.

Yeah, but can you get #M's in 000? As hard as chrome is, it will scratch when you use a coarser weave? I've used 3M's on boats and it's lethal. Just curious....???

It's a small world. A couple of days ago I called UPS to schedule a pick up and the gal that answered the line was a Kathy Brown. My response was I have a daughter named Kathy Brown!! Now I'm looking at a post from Double D, aka David Dotson, My response is...Hey, I have a son-in-law named David Dotson..!! We must be running outta names....

Like the schematics a lot better than those on the CD disc I picked up off ebay. Image doesn't fall apart when zooming in on a particular area. Looks like pricing is a little under retail also. -
So.... now all I need to know is will adding the crossover hose work on a 1200, and is it absolutely neccessary to link the YICS hoses??

Good info Don. I wish someone had pics of a 1200 mod, and 1200/1300 double mod. I'm getting confused as to which one works or is neccessary. Too much infomation to compute. Are the rubber caps the same one's that are removed to sync the carbs?? -Jack

I liked looks the 511 tacticals, but when I tried to look up my size I struck out. They have my waist size in the shorts, but not in the pants. Also liked the kevlar jeans, and they do make them in a fat boys size, but $99 bucks for a pair of jeans is hard to take. Gotta do something....

Didn't someone write up something about the rear shock?? Pre-crash
-
The cinch bolts were loosened...see text and pics. You can very easily strip threads off the aluminum caps when trying to screw the caps back into the steel housing of the fork. Under the pressure you need to exert on the cap in order to compress the Progressives to start the cap threads is NOT an easy maneuver. -Jack

Mike Junes had the same problem at VWIII. Started on the way to Sue-ville. I can't remenber what all the 'wrenches' finally found to correct the problem, but maybe one of them will chime in here with words of wisdom...

Leaning into a turn in front of the house the rear brakes locked up tighter than a frog's a$$. Slo-mo lay down incurred. Bike doubled in size while laying on it's side. Picked it back up, but it wasn't easy. Getting my rear end under the seat in order to use the legs to lift is great for someone who's normal highth, but when you're 6'6" it's a long way down, and straightening the legs back out isn't easy..... Did it, but was breethin' hard when it was over. Whew!!!
