Yep, Me too.... I even like the analog speedo and tach... I just wonder if you can log onto the internet and get on VentureRider.org with all that techno glitz?? Lifetime XM?? The price is right there with the Indian Chieftain, and under the Roadmaster with like equipment... And in sync with the Electra Glide UC with not as much glitz... Like a '58 Chevy it's growing on me... Gawd I wish I were 20 years younger....!!

LOL... All the time... :-)

Not that one Don. It's one I put together way back in the dark ages. IT was of the U.S. 48 only with color coded states based on the number of members residing in that state. Like 1-50= brown, 51-100= green.... etc. It gave a pretty good look at the member demographics of the board. I did post it but who knows where and when?? Nothing as cool and interactive as the one you have posted now...

I got carried away a while ago and did a color coded map of the U.S. with member count. I remember CA had around 180, and Texas was at 228 out west. Surprisingly Canada had around 220. Most of the members were in the Eastern US, and the least was I think Montana or SD with 4. Total was somewhere near 2800. Don't know what ever happened to the map, but I suspect it got eaten during one of the HD crashes...

Whew!! OK now I see it.... Like Bob said it's about half way down the profile page under 'This Page' It gives me the URL and at the end is 224-Condor. I was kinda looking for something that said 'member number'. So now I'm older than I thought...

This is just a thought, but do you have to be logged in???

Way down from the good ol' days when there were 2000+. I wonder how many sub-400 members are still hanging in there??

1990 Royale air questions

Never read about it, but then again I'm under a lot of pressure so I don't foam.... :-) -
I didn't get it to work for me until I removed your handle and went with http://www.venturerider.org/forum/member.php? Then magically my number appeared at the end when I entered the url. 242-Condor. I think I originally joined in '04 or '05 and had quite a few posts by the crash. You accumulate a lot of posts when having problems. My first post like many others was a cry for help right after buying my first Venture. MikeB in San Diego was a big help as well as Hdhtr right here in Carmichael. Surprisingly Steve's office was only a block and a half away.. Never got used to his 'instant' coffee... :-)

I haven't thought about this in years, but do we still have member numbers??

I'd never thought of that but dang Bob that makes a lot of sense.... -
I've been following the Titan Diesel with great interest ever since it was announced. I own a 2006 5.6 V8 Titan LE crew cab now, and love it. The big reason I went to it was at the time it had the largest cab rating in the industry , and I needed all the help I could get... I've owned GMC's and Fords, and it is the roomiest. The 5.6 will also rock your socks when you put the pedal to the metal. I might also add the 5.6 is a big block, so stuffing a Cummings Diesel in there would be a no brainer. I don't think there will be that much difference. Cummings builds a great diesel i.e. the Ram inline 6, and a ton of commercial applications. Now all I have to do is find the dinero.. And unfortunately I'd want it equipped like my LE... https://www.nissanusa.com/trucks/titan-xd

Whether the plastic is mounted on the frame or on the triple shouldn't make that much difference in weight...if any. The frame mount will be more responsive due to the weigh removed from the forks.. Like a 1stGen. The larger bags will add a few extra pounds, but not enough to make that big of a difference. I also think you'll find that an air cooled V2 is lighter than a water cooled, drive shaft/final V4. I'm sure with the lower center of gravity it handles much nicer, but I bet it would be even livelier if it came in at around 800# I might also be interesting to check the front rake compared to that of a 2ndGen's.. And one more thing... Sorry Puc for hi-jacking your thread... Should have made the comments somewhere else...

You might reconsider about it being the best improvement to an '83, and drop it to #2 after installing a set of R1 calipers and MKII rotors... Those 2 piston OEM's on the MKI's are a joke. Braking control is unbelievable with the R1's....'specially if you like to carve the twisties... -
1990 Royale air questions

Many of us have a little more heft in our caboose and still need the air. MOF I even kept the AD's functional on the '83. I had all three cooking and it was the best riding bike I've ever owned. The only thing I did change were to go to Avon Venoms. That bike rode like it was on rails. Coming across Nevada I'd ride for long miles and never touch the grips.... The dumbest thing I ever did was to sell it to my son. I loved that bike... -
Here's another 3rdGen question that's been bothering me... a little. What did they feed it?? They've got that thing up to 950# and have removed the heavy weight items from the 2ndGen at 850#. They've replaced the water cooled V4 with a lighter V2, and the drive shaft and final. Sounds like it should be lighter?? I didn't know PC boards weighed that much..???

Take a spray bottle with soapy water and wet down the fork seals and all the hose joints while pressurized. Bubbles will show you where your leak is, and it should be fairly large to loose pressure in 2 minutes... -
Ya gotta be careful with those 'demo' models. I picked up a Dewalt Compound Miter 12" that was tossed into an auction by Home Depot because it wouldn't work. The motor would turn on but the blade wouldn't turn. Started tearing it down and all it needed was an adapter washer to center the blade on the arbor. The off center blade was hitting the guard. $1.69. Bought two. One to install and the other taped to the underside of the table...just in case.. :-) All because some employee didn't know what they were doing when they put it together. Home Depot lost a ton on this one... Retail was $350. Cost $76.69

They're easy to train. Keep feeding them and they'll follow you anywhere..... So I've heard...

YEP!!....

Yeah, I agree on the entertainment factor... Heck sometimes I'm one of the entertainers.. That trailer ended up going for 8g's plus the buyers premium and sales tax. Local would have definitely been better... West does get a lot of nation wide exposure.. They had a gun auction a while back and every item went for big bucks... Blew me out of the saddle... When I croak the kids are instructed to get them to do the guns... :-)

Engine side covers interchange.
Condor replied to Flyinfool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Maybe?? I'm not positive... time and memory fade.. but we installed a Barnett 6 spring on HDHTR's '89VR and didn't have any clearance problems... But... that was the deeper 1300 cover... LOL sounds like a crime show... 'Deep Cover... I digress.. :-) Anyway another alternative is to swap out the whole clutch assembly from a 1200 6/spring with Barnett HD springs. I did the HD springs on my '83VR. They worked great. Cheaper too!! Every once in a while you can find a 1200 clutch complete on eBay. -

It's the other way around Jeff. The 1300 is deeper and will fit the 1200 but not visa versa...
