    i shot the front end of the '93 with spray cans, and it turned out pretty nice..... I think. Nothin' fancy, just matalic charcoal. I painted over the stripping so I'd have a reference when laying down another color. The parts have about 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear. Got waylaid and haven't gotten to the saddles and trunk yet.

    You boys must be talking about a 1stGen. We all know that nothing ever goes wrong with a 2ndGen...........

    Sure. The big difference is that you now have hydralic anti-dive and the 86 and up are electrical..... Check with Bongobob on this board. He's doing a swap.

    Don, 4000 at 70-72mpg in fifth gear is what I ran with my '83 going to Ft Collins, so I don't think your 1stGen member would have had a V-Max rear end. In our group of 6 mine was the only 1stGen. When we'd stop for fuel we all took just about the same amount. Within a tenth of a gallon.... 3.8..3.9gal at around 153-5 miles, so it worked out to a little less than 40mpg.... I might add that my 'cruise controll' is actually a throttle lock... My mpg started getting better once I made it to FC. For the same 150+ mi., taking 3.3 to 3.7., which meant I started getting up around 45mpg in the canyon twisties in 3rd and 4th.... Go figure.... Maybe a V-Max rear end might help the 1stGens as well???

    I think?? it's 14400.... But once the tranny is out of the motor theere's no way of telling what year it came from. Personally I'd rather buy the whole motor and be assured that it's out of a 1300. Motors don't bring much more than what the guy it asking for just the tranny, and who's to tell it's actually out of a V-Max. I've seen Ebay sellers refer to parts from their 83-84 as being the same, or from, a V-Max and they weren't even around until 85.... Anyway I don't think there's a way to tell the difference between a 83 and a 93 tranny once the parts are out of the motor.... I think....

    If I can't locate one that may be an option.... Wish my old friend saddle maker were still around...... :-) There's also a local leather shop, Merry Terry's, that might be talked into something. Wish I hadn't sold all my leather working tools years ago.... and I usually save everything.... Not into the 'glitz' Vic. Nothin' like leather....:)

    While at Ft Collins I noticed daveg90's great looking scoot had an accessory pouch made by M&S Enterprises in Las Vegas hanging between the risers. Anothre 1st had one also. It actually was made to fit a 1200 Honda Wing, but fit between the risers like it belonged there. I got the info from Dave and did a web search when I got back to the barn. I did find a listing, but when I called the number I got ahold of some dumb chat line recording, so I'm pretty sure the company's out of biz. Anyway...... Anyone have one of these things laying around that they're no longer using?? I could really use it... The '83 doesn't have enough room between the fairing and my knees to mount an 86-93 bag, and this thing would be just the ticket to store glasses, camera, etc. I'd be more the willing to cough up some change. My next alternative would be to have one custom made....yuck!!

    The buy-it-now price is kinda steep, but if you can't wait...go for it. You're not gaining anything over a 1300 tranny from 86-93. I've seen them go for a lot less.....

    Know what you meant in the first post Dan..... We got out of Dodge pretty early Sunday, sorry we missed you. It was a long haul to Ft Collins and a 6 bike convoy isn't built for speed. We were on our way by 6AM PDT and got to FC arond 7 their time. 'Bout 12 hours in the saddle....

    Your's look great Dan.... and from what I gather they sound great too. I can hear 'm out here on the west coast... I also had a chance to view Dave90's scoot with the MACS installed at Ft Collins last week. With his V-Boost conversion they were impressive.... talk about sneaky fast.. See the pic below. After putting on 3000 miles to Ft Collins on my '83#1VR, with the MACs, I noticed the sound started to go up in volumn a bit, and the tone becoming more mellow. I'm happier than a clam in a tide pool with mine....:)

    Yeah, sorry Wayne, 1stGens only. 2Gens have a bunch of manufacturers to chose from, but if your a 1st, MAC this one of only two brands available.... I did check with MAC and they don't make them for 2ndGens.

    We now have the 10 members interested in picking up a set of MAC's so it's a go. I'll give it another week for anyone else that would like to join in, and then start asking for the funds. Money can be sent via Paypal to our account email address paypal@cast-aways.com, or check mailed to Cast-Aways, p.o. box 8, Carmichael Ca 95609-0008. Once we get the funds together I'll place the order. So be patient and good things will happen.... OK, I heard back from MAC and the group pricing will be the same. To make things easy it'll be $225 sitting on your doorstep.... unless you live north of the boarder, then It's $235. The break out is $195 plus shipping. So if anyone would like to get in on this go-around's list of 10 feel free to chime in. Also if paying by Paypal an extra $5 bucks to cover paypal charges would be appreciated...     WOW!! Thank's guys, we're one short of filling the list... Go to Ft Collins for a week and all hell breaks loose.... I'm still on the road at my daughters in Idaho, but should be back home late Saturday... if I have another 600 mile plus day in me. I'd like to also add that we can go over the 10 minimum, so I'll give it a week after we hit the goal before starting the ball rolling once again.

    Geeeze, i don't know what to say Bob. A Mac that won't get the MAC. Actually I don't pick up the pic...just the sound. Go figure.....??? Don't know enough about Mac's to help... anyone else???

    The temp guage maybe nothing more than a bad ground wire. Since the housing that holds the temp sensors is isolated by coolant hoses they needed to ground the housing to complete the circut. I may also be a bad sensor, which is a simple replacement, or the worst it could be in a bad guage, which isn't all that bad but you hve to get to it and you know where it is.... The temp housing is located on the right side of the engine just aft of the top of the radiator. The gears are interchangeable from the 1300 to the 1200. Have fun......
