  1. I don't think that was a fair comparison Vic......:rotf: http://www.cast-aways.com/images/IMGP0947%20(Medium).JPG
  2. '53 Ford 2-door. Lower'd, leaded, lakers, 'E' gas, lots of fun, chocolate coke and wet fries at Henry's Drive In. '59 Impala Convertable, 327/3-speed, lots of trophys at Irwindale Drag Strip. I wanna go back!!.....
  3. After trotting down to the local ACE Hardware store for a couple of metric bolts and nuts I could see me sinking a lot of bucks into new fasteners. So..... I bought about 40# of 1stGen metric screws nuts and bolts off Ebay for cheap before others figured out what was going on and the prices started to climb. A lot of them are specialty fasteners for the 1stGens only. I must have a ga'jillion dollars worth.
  4. I can see the sport bike set liking it maybe, but even if it does lean you're not going to scrape any pegs with it.....

    Back Again

Glad you're doing better John. There's a lot to be said about the Harley trunk on an RSTD. Lone Eagle has one on his TD and it's much better and roomier than the stock RSV. However, if top heaviness is an issue it will certainly add to the high side weight.
  6. UPDATE: I just received notice from MAC that our mufflers have been shipped and should be here on the 30th. So I should should have them shipped out buy this time next week. Thanks everyone for being so patient.
  7. Wow!! 69 reply posts in 2 days......
  8. Do you believe in God? You will after this..... http://justkeepfishing.com/Depoestrom.html
  9. I bet they haven't made a RSV part for the bike or the V4 motor in a couple of years. The RSV will last only as long as they can continue building them out of their parts stock. Just change the color each year. Same thing happened with the Royales. The last of the Royales were sold in Europe and marketed as '94's. It would be nice if Yamaha were going to bring out a new improved bike, but from a marketing standpoint I don't think you're going to see it for a couple of years, if at all.
  10. I thought it was a pretty good idea. Maybe not from a cost standpoint, but as an alternative fuel source if nothing else. Although there's a lot to be said about electrical power.....
  11. That's because you're only reading 2ndGen posts... Take you entire post and swap out the 1st and 2nd references and it reads the same......
  12. Be suspicious about anything you receive from Ebay. The best way to tell if it's spam or phishing is that your real name is not in the header, and the email refers to your ebay 'handle'. And....even when your name is used still be suspicious.... I used to get a lot of those phishing emails, but haven't in a while now. I used to send them all to spoof@ebay.com . Maybe it worked??? You have to keep your head on a swivel with anything internet related, not just Ebay, as it's worldwide with countries that have different laws, and a could care less attitude. We can control what happens here in the US, but there's not a damn thing we can do about offshore scammers.
  13. I was a 3 pack a day smoker for 20 years, then I cold turkey'd the habit 20 years ago. There are two habits you have to beat if you want to stop smoking. One is the oral habit...like sucking your thumb.... and the other is the chemical addiction. Nicotine. All the patches are going to do is help you get rid of the oral habit. The patch is still feeding nicotine into your system. That's why once you've beaten the oral and get off the patch so many 'ex-smokers' climb back on the wagon and start up again. They're still addicted to the nicotine. It takes a lot of will power to just quit... You have to have the conviction that you ARE quiting and just do it. Otherwise your kidding yourself. Save your patch money and go buy another pack of nails. If you do commit, the first 2-3 weeks are the roughest. The first couple of days you'll wash all the windows, mow the lawn, do the dishes, and just about every other chore you can find because of all the energy you'll have. You'll also stuff anything you can into your mouth....the oral thing. But once you get buy the first couple of weeks this should taper off. Just be prepared to go though hell for a couple of weeks. You'll be glad you did. You'll save a ton of money, food will taste better, you can smell the roses again, and eventually you'll find you can't stand to be around a cigarette. It'll take your breath away....
  14. And thought..... what better place to post it than in the 'Watering Hole'. [ame=http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4742152468547080205&q=hydro+power&total=271&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=5]WATER[/ame]

    I LOVE IT LOL.....:rotf:
  16. One possible way you take care of the problem is hit'm in the pocket book. A few letters to the surounding merchants, and the city council, explaining that you'll be spending your dollars in another town because of one person's anti-bike animosity. Even when you're driving a car.... That will usually get the other leaders to take the person aside and have a talk with him.... The idea of legally taking up all the parking spaces around the business will only piss him off even more.
  17. Good meeting you and Bev too Jack. Looks like you folks are having a great time..... BBQ's always draw a crowd. Your place next summer?? T-Bone....medium rare....
  18. Yeah, I know.....but I am trying to be carefull.....
  19. I'm not much of a long distance rider, but I did do about three 600 +/- mile legs to and from Ft Collins, and for me that's a lot. The last 600 kicked my rear end with temps around 105deg thru Nevada on the way home. 200-300 is much more enjoyable for me........
  20. I can't believe this is happening again so soon after the Julian Fire of just a few years ago. What a mess. Here's a copy from the Sac Bee this morning. And the San Diego fire is just one of many in SoCal, but if diffinately the biggest with 600 homes gone. http://media.sacbee.com/smedia/2007/10/22/22/313-firemain.embedded.prod_affiliate.4.jpg SAN DIEGO – An explosive chain of Southern California wildfires has triggered the largest evacuation in state history, with hundreds of thousands of people fleeing their homes as weary firefighters struggle to slow the relentless infernos that have consumed more than 267,000 acres since last weekend. In San Diego County alone, seven separate fires spurred the evacuation of 300,000 people – 10 percent of the county's population. "There's been a mass exodus," said Luis Monteagudo, a spokesman for the county. "Some roads are gridlocked. Emotions are on edge. We are going through something unprecedented at this point." http://ads.sacbee.com/RealMedia/ads/adstream_lx.ads/www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/1764056599/Button20/Sacbee/Starbucks_NW_300_0710/Starbucks_NW_300_0710.html/34353365396532353436643662633330?_RM_EMPTY_ Fire officials estimated that 500 homes and 100 businesses had been destroyed in San Diego County's Witch fire, which had charred 145,000 acres as of Monday night. Throughout the Southern California fire zone, one death was confirmed and 39 people were injured, including 15 firefighters. The number of evacuees far exceeds California's previous record, when 120,000 people were displaced in Northern California during the 1997 floods. Across the south state, at least 14 fires rampaged through seven counties. Fanned by ferocious winds and feeding on vegetation parched by drought, the fires on Monday blazed from the mountains to the sea. Today's prospects don't look much better, with sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph, gusting up to 80 mph, said Mike Sicilia, an Office of Emergency Services spokesman. He said the winds are expected to die down by Wednesday. In Los Angeles County, four fires ate through more than 80,000 acres, destroying at least 24 homes, a church and numerous outbuildings and injuring eight people, including two firefighters. Most of those hurt had minor injuries, said Rick Dominguez, a Los Angeles county fire inspector. For longtime residents of the rugged canyons north of Los Angeles, the massive Buckweed fire represents decades of concern. That fire triggered the evacuation of 15,000 residents, officials said. "We always have fires in the canyons, and you pretty much know where they're going," said Kim Nelson, a resident of Saugus since 1974. "But this is a wildfire in the truest sense of the word. We haven't had any relief for two days. None." As winds picked up Monday morning, flames forced brief evacuations in Saugus, a sprawling collection of new developments and old horse ranches in the canyons north of the San Fernando Valley. Families ran from their homes clutching armloads of clothing and electronics after sheriff's deputies roared through the neighborhood on motorcycles announcing a mandatory evacuation. Neighbors hugged and cried as they parted. Yet almost as quickly as the fire sped downhill toward two dozen homes, heat billowing ahead of it, the blaze dissipated after consuming the fuel in its path. In the San Bernardino Mountains, flames roared toward homes north of Lake Arrowhead, with officials confirming that 138 structures were destroyed and 1,500 homes were in peril. Earlier Monday, an online appeal from Lake Arrowhead firefighters summed up their desperate situation: "Immediate threat to 100 structures and possible threat to thousands ... Multiple downed power lines. IC (Incident Command) asking for resources from anywhere... . Lack of resources hindering suppression efforts. Unable to fly aircraft. All local engines are depleted."
