Harbor Freight Bike Lift on sale!!!! Save $150
Condor replied to KiteSquid's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
I just looked up the lift on their website. $379.00 So I guess it's strictly an area promotion. This is a bit off the subject, but did you know that if you look up something you're going to buy on the site and print it out they will honor that price in the store if it's lower. I saved a few bucks doing that once. Printed out a brad air stapler so I'd know what to look for, and they gave me the lower price after I found it. -
I guess I got into fruitcakes back when I was a kid in upstate New York. My grandmother used to bake up a bunch of them in July, wrap them in cheese cloth, put them in a barrel, and let them soak in rum until Christmas. Talk about good. Yummmm!!! Hic!!! I still can't figure out why people feel they need to put down fruitcake. Maybe it's just the 'in' thing to do???

It's not!!! Man it should be...... I have it bookmarked....

Wow!! Many thanks Fred. Sounds like that's what I have. And double thanks for the great tech write up and pics.

Question Rick. Do they give you a non-personalized plastic card right then and there, or do they send a personalized in the mail later on down the road. I'm gonna hold off either way until I get to the gates.... Thanks for the info....

Go get a couple of 4x8 sheets of CDX ply for flooring and park the bikes on them. Cover the bikes with a good MC cover and your condensation problem will disappear.

OK, 1stGen 83#2 has 54,000.....154,000,.....254,000... or 354,000. Take your pick... Did I win?? Huh...huh...huh?????

Knowing when you closed the auction would help, but if it's been fairly recent it does take a while to ship things up to Canada. Even when the seller uses Priority Mail Service....PMS for short. If they used the cheapest method (most likely) it takes forever. I'd give it time. And.... is there a reason your looking for tht particular mud flap. Attached is a pick of a Markland I just put on my '91 and it does have some nice chome accents.

Merry Christmas Lowell, and may all your Riding in 2008 be GR8!!

Actually from what I've read you don't even have to be a veteran, just disabled. I might add that you have to jump thru a few hoops to prove disability, so it might be a lot easier to ante up the one time fee of $10 bucks.

I tried that too...... didn't work....

The problem with getting a senior pass is that you have to apply in person with proof of residency and age. They won't take the sweepin's from a barber shop..... I found a list of agencies where you can get it, but having a hard time finding something local. I just got off the phone with the Nat. Fish and Game office and they refered me to the BLM office here in town, so things are lookin up. The nor-cal board members are thinking about doing a couple of rides in National Parks, and if it happens this thing will pay off big time.... Any other members over 62 might want to look into picking one up. It's lifetime.

I wondering if any OF's (over 62) on the board have picked up one of those Lifetime Senior Park Passes for $10 bucks? And if so where did you go to apply for it? Seems like it would be a good thing to have if you plan on visiting any National Parks in the future, and the $10 bucks is kinda cheap......

If you're around my size...'bout three months.... Just kidding... Like all things they'll probably collapse in due time, but I've never heard of a set going bad yet. Look how long did it take before the stock springs went??.. There could be other reasons your bottoming out beside the springs. How's your air pressure? Changed the fork oil lately. Etc. And you may not be bottoming out at all. A loose fairing will sound like 'H' when you hit a bump... Maybe??

Condor replied to TxVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It all depends on how you're looking. I've been picking up the side vents fairly inexpensively. The last one I bought was installed in a fairing. Bought the whole fairing for $40 bucks on Ebay, and that included the shipping. Removed the vent and Ebay'd the fairing for $25. $15 bucks..no tax..no shipping ain't too bad... I also buy one-zies anytime I can. Eventually I'll end up with pairs. With five bikes to feed I have to be creative...... MOF I think I have the only 83 Royale with '87standard side fairings and the vents. Looks neat!! I still have the original sides and will probably swap them back out when the time comes to sell.... -
[quote=Gearhead;156265 Hmmm...strong possibility! You can probably tell by analyzing the behavior of the front end. Run it on minimum air pressure and go over some sharp bumps or brake really hard - does it bottom or clunk in the front? Or you could get scientific, get a helper and measure static sag. Bottom line - if the bike shows evidence of riding low and floppy with minimum air pressure, it proably has stockers. IMHO, that is. Jeremy I'll be able to tell more when I get the oil leak taken care of and feel comfortable taking it out for a ride. I have an '83 with Progressives to compare its ride to. It also has a screw-on oil filter, so the possibilities are strong.

Yep, I stand corrected. After doing some research on the web I found that the sulphuric acid remains in the battery and just the water vaporizes and gases off. Distilled or de-ionized water only. Thanks for the info Jeremy.

I think the biggest problem is that when you get older the body starts slowing down and the synapsis don't fire like the used to, but...... the brain still thinks the same way we did back when we were immortal. Heck, I still think I can still stuff the ball, can play above the rim with a 36" vertical leap, am stronger, and can outplay most of the pro-hoop guys today. Not....!! But I think I can.... It's knowing my limitations that keeps it in perspective. When I picked up my first VR, 2 1/2 years ago, it took me a whole month before I felt confortable, and those riding skills I'd had, after a 10 year haitus, started to return. Even now when I ride I keep my head on a swivel, and think every cage is going to pull out in front of me from a side street, or make an oncoming left hand turn in front of me. Those two incidences are the major cause of fatal MC accidents. I've come to the conclusion that if you daydream on a bike long enough....you will die.
