  1. I've got 'm laying all over the place, but never in the right size when I need it.....
  2. Got you cover'd Jack. No need to answer your email...
  3. You may be right Ken, but I think it's something left over from the days when there were no ignition switches. I just can't think of an emergency situation where one would come into play.???
  4. Thanks Neil. That's a great tid bit of information. I've posed this question several years ago and didn't get any responses. The problem was I couldn't see good enough to figure out what...or if anything... was down inside that hole in the knob. I had a hard time finding a phillips that would fit, and I have a lot of them. What I did find that would fit was a small slotted screwdriver with a tapered tip. With it I could get a bite on something, and unscrewed what ever is in there?? When I finally did get the screw out it was as you said. I small phillips with a lot of dirt packed in the cross hatch..
  5. What's a garage door opener??????? :rotf:
  6. South West Moto is another good source for Avons. Buy two and the shipping is free.
  7. Check with Baker. They may have something...
  8. ROTFLMAO.... I could see where this story was going half way thru. That's why I always use the kill switch. It's part of the starting check list. Started using it right after the same thing happened to me, and..... probably every one on this board.... Another thing is using it keeps the dirt and corrosion off the contacts. A dirty switch will drive you nuts....
  9. An Odyssey BUMP and a report. For anyone thinking about ordering an Odyssey, we're down to the last 6 days before placing the group buy order. We have more than enough members who have committed and already paid. Thanks. For those on the list who haven't sent in their payment, now would be a good time. If getting an email invoice from paypal would make it any easier, I can do that too. Just PM me your email address, and I'll get'r done.
  10. Sic 'm Dan....
  11. Dang!! A veritable heat wave.... My father-in-law was stationed at the AFB Goose Bay Lab., and one night the guys were out on the lake ice fishing. They couldn't figure out why they had to keep skimming the ice out of the hole all night long. Next morning they got the overnight temps. -54F!! You keep the fire lit Oz....
  12. One of many......
  13. Eck- The problem is that the area that needs to be repaired has to be kept as thin as possible, or the L hinge bracket and trunk support will not fit afterwards. That's why I'm going to stick with the more pliable glass matt. Metal screen would be a good idea if the damage were located somewhere else, but it's right underneath all the metal plates and front supports. On one side the damage actually takes in the corner of the leading edge.
  14. Can't fool me, that was done with mirrors.........
  15. Southwest Moto loves guys like that.....
  16. Now if we could locate a black cargo box like those used on the Piggy Backer it would be a winnner.....
  17. Probably more to do with Smog requirements than detuning them in the later years.....
  18. I bet his MPG went up..... :rotf:
  19. If it runs when you want it to, stops when it's supposed to, that's good enough for me. My favorite is any VR somewhere between an '83 and '93. .....
  20. John. I don't think knowing the original price on a bike is going to be that much of a help. Knowing aproximately what a scoot sells for on the used market might?? I usually take the approach that no matter what the cosmetic condition of a bike is, it has issues. A lot of factors enter in to what a used bike will sell for, but the biggest leverage you'll have is if the owner is really motivated to sell. I've picked up five 1stGens for way under what they would have brought on the market, and way under what the owner was asking. How? Because I'm not affraid to make a rediculous offer.... you never know unless you ask. Condition... I really like to see a dusty bike...., mechanicals, how long it's been sitting, and best of all... how long it's been on the market are the best reasons to buy low.. The time of year hasn't been a big price influence, as most of the bikes I've owned were purchased right in the middle of riding season. Hope this helps, and good luck.
  21. The 'O' ring in the housing is the culprit. Fairly easy to replace, and there are write up on the board about it. My 83 only 'dribbles' when it gets down into the 30"s. Otherwise it's fine. I suppose I'll have to R&R mine when if it gets any worse, but for now I'll let it do it's thing since it doesn't get down in the 30 degs area very often....

    Sac Weather

Rod, the weather during Feb is hit and miss wet. Rocklin hasn't seen ice or snow in.... forever... Roads are good and well maintained. If the weather cooperates that time of the year there are some good lower elevation roads for weekend getaways. You don't want to go to far up the hills as we have lots of snow in the Sierras above 4,000'. Gimme a call when you get here and I buy you a cup of coffee.... or lunch if you twist my arm....
  23. I actually have another trunk that I picked up pretty cheap off ebay for the inside L brackets and parts. It's just that the top is toast, but the bottom is in great shape and I'd hate to cut up a good bottom for a couple of holes. I just tossed a bunch of plastic off the '93 that would have worked for scrap ABS....but hind sight is....?? I'm just wondering if piecing scrap ABS in the holes would give as much support as glass matt and ABS filler???
  24. Thanks Dave. Looks like HD is going to get more of my money than I'd planned....
  25. Don't know Widder, but just visited their website. Looks like the same type of store as National Discount Cycle we had locally that went out of biz. The second independent to file for bankruptcy in our area in the last year. A sign of the times.....
