Carbtunes are from the UK. Wearing in of cables on a new bike etc. shouldn't effect the sync. All the sync does is get all carbs to work in unison by adjusting the linkage. When I ordered mine online I received it in 10 days....

Did you know that I had to use one of those during Easter dinner to open a few bottles of Martelli's Sparkling Cider..... I wanted to go out and use the bumper of the truck, but got a dirty look from the wife.....

Headlight Problems 1984 Venture
Condor replied to Dokester's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If all else fails you're gonna have to take out the CPU in the dash and resolder the pc board. Or.... pic up another dash off Ebay and swap out the whole dash. My '83 only had high beam, which seems to be a fairly common ailment. I had planned on doing to solder mod, but found a low mile dash and swapped the whole dash. Took about an hour. I now have full function on the head light, plus a lot newer bike becasue the odometer had about 15,000 less on it. just so no one thinks I'm pulling a fast one, I wrote the milage of both odometers on the back side of the dash before installing it..... -
Congrats Bucky........

Three things come to mind. #1 friction inhanced oil at your last change. #2 need to bleed the brakes ,and make sure the reserve isn't over full. #3 clutch job new friction discs and springs.

Anywhere in the vicinity of the rear tire. All they do is keep the rear tire from shifting to one side or the other. Just make sure the front tire is secured in the chock and secured to the front of the trailer somewhere. Spring lines can be used if you're concerned with back and forth movement, but not absolutely neccessary.

Once in a while one will pop up on Ebay. A lot of sellers list the reflector as a light, but every so often one shows up with wiring coming out of the housing...

Condor replied to geezer glide's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Looks pretty clean in there, but from the pic it looks like #1 manifold clamp is missing?? -

Was it the stator cover or the smaller middle gear cover? Something we do when caulking a boat is place toothpicks in the caulk bead. It keeps it from getting squeezed out. And did it have a gasket? -
K&N filter air box mods?
Condor replied to geezer glide's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I got the '91 home and had a chance to pop the hood I found the top of an air box that looked like a piece of swiss cheese.... with a K&N filter. The thing ran a little rough when I first looked at it, and thought it needed a good sync and plugs, but I slapped on another box top and it smoothed right out. Pitched the holey one into the trash. I also run a K&N filter on the '83 and '87. Never found a need to punch holes in them either. -
No need this time Cindy....I hope!! Tell Dale to keep the charger plugged in....

The pads you're talking about are these, but they only fit on a MarkII, and the saddle bag guards need a plate to mount them to. I can't see anyone replacing the entire guard just to add these things. Most guards I've seen are missing the plate. I just took a look at my '83 and I can't see how any pegs could be added and not have them poke the rider. The bag guard ends towards the back of the passenger seat, and if you found a way to mount the pegs where the passenger could use them, somebodies going to be very unconfortable.....

You'll always get a rise out of 1stGen owners with a 'fishing' post like that. No matter how you wanna explain it away. We're a fervent lot, and very content with our bikes. I just don't see as much 2ndGen bashing from 1st's as I do the other way around. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I'm sure there'll be lots of suggestions after this post. I guess you have to ride one to understand...

I'm kinda hesitant to put a whole lot of weight on top of the trunk. Since I don't ride 2up the passenger seat handles a Tourmaster tank bag perfectly, and it's got all sorts of storage and pockets for do-dads. The pic makes it look like it slopes funny, but it actually sits fairly straight up. http://www.pashnit.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=63596&stc=1&d=1201371003

You might want to check the wireless card in your computor. Mine was doing the same thing and I replaced the 'El Cheepo' Ebay card with one from a local outlet and the problem disappeared. Found that the antenna on the Ebay card was busted. Every once in a while the wireless router gets constipated, and the cycle off/on works OK to get it going again. My baud rate is usually 7.5MB to 9.2MB download and usually 9+MB upload.

Oil leak - XVZ1300
Condor replied to MiCarl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Outside of a couple of subtle differences, the 1st and 2nd are the same motor. The 2nd head rear exhaust ports are outboard instead of inboard, and the water pump housing is a different shape. Haven't looked real hard at the rest of the motor, but the internals are basically the same. -
No Problem Dan. Keep me posted...

They're out of both types Cindy. So ordering an MJ won't make any difference. You're pro'bly looking at somewhere around the 10th of May before you'll see one. Sorry..... Although... they said that the last time, and the batteries actually came in sooner.. As soon as we get as least 10 members paid for I'll submit the list for shipping. The sooner the better to get them in the works.

Thanks Cliff. It's duly noted...
