  1. Anyone interested in a spin on oil filter adapter for their 1stGen, hang loose for a bit. I'm working on a group buy with an adapter manufacture. We're just now ironing out the pricing details. More coming shortly..... PS: I'm also swapping emails with a supplier of fork braces.... PPS: Once the Odyssey group buy is put to bed for this year, I'll be starting a MAC Muffler group.....
  2. Online manual links are avaible for downloading here
  3. We only get earth quakes.... and haven't had a major one of those for quite a while. You can keep those twisters.....
  4. Per GeorgeS' recomendation I went out and tried to find CRC 2-26, but couldn't. What I did end up with is CRC's QD Electronic Cleaner. Works good. The QD is for quick dry... Probably the same stuff???
  5. Don't think so Wayne. Attached are a couple of 83,87, and 91 pics. Looks like the markII has two bolts, while the markI has a bolt and tab. Different trunk rack also....
  6. My son located the choke rod, but now he needs the plastic cap that fits on the rod so the fork linkage can work. Anyone out there have that plastic cup floating around??? They aren't available from Yamaha any longer...

    Enjoy the ride

I'll try back later. The server was overwhelmed......
  8. Those things are always cracking and falling off. I'd check with Yamaha to see it they still offer the boot. Another thought would be to mask off the gimble and spray it with Plasti-Dip rubberized spray to seal out crud....
  9. Sounds like it's going to be one of those 'change lightbulb.....rewire house' summers...
  10. Now that's a WOW!! factor of 10. Not the Spyder..... The website.........
  11. Just a thought. Could it be a timing problem, and the reason the starter relay heats up is that the engine is bogging down so much it's pulling a ton of amps to get it to spin??? Years ago when rebuilding motors you could get the distributor in 180deg out because they hadn't designed offset dogs on the bottom of the shaft. Dang engine would barely turn over.... Just a thought.....
  12. Sounds like you may have keyed the mike without a good antenna connection and blown the transmit finals???
  13. Tell your dad that we get them directly from the distributor. By buying in quantity they extend us dealer pricing. They are not seconds, but the most currently dated batteries on the market. Not something that's been sitting on a dealers shelf for 6 months or more. I might also add that if he's that skeptical, perhaps it might be better if he just went ahead and purchased a battery from his regular local source.
  14. Glad to hear you brought her down safely Brian......
  15. Looks like you've even come up with a better way Rick. Since it was our first time on a 2ndGen, it was trial and error. We don't have that problem on a 1stGen....
  16. S'OK Dan.....
  17. 2 years, although I never have heard of one ever going back...
  18. He sells items that even have higher shipping, and even though a lot are out of state it still adds up to a bunch for instate sales.
  19. That would still be a PITA......
  20. I bid on a charger for my cell phone on Ebay... lost the other one and I'm to lazy to go into hunt mode.... So the seller has the thing listed for .99¢ with a $5.95 shipping charge, and.... he's in California. I'm high bid when it closes at .99¢...was there ever any doubt... , and the guy uses some sort of 'non-paypal' payment system for credit card sales, and I go to it, and do the dance. One problem. The system is charging me sales tax on the shipping. That's a no-no in Cal. So I write the seller several messages, using the Ebay system, requesting a revised invoice showing the corrected total with tax on just the .99¢ Never hear a word back from the guy. I try calling him at the phone number I get from Ebay. No answer. So I say screw it and don't pay. About 3 weeks later I get a notice from Ebay saying that the .... at this time.... 'Jerk' has filed a non-pay complaint against me. I respond and file a dispute. A couple of weeks later I get a chastizing notice from Ebay saying I've got a 'strike' against me. I wrote them back and basically say if they support a seller that is doing something illegal, then I have no other alternative but to think Ebay condones illegal activities. About two hours later I get a response that they have deleted the 'strike'. Some of you may say .60¢, what the heck, but it was more than the pricipal. The seller has done over 52,000 Ebay transactions. At .60+ extra per in state transaction, he's pocketing just a few bucks..... BTW I know where he lives and I'm sending Guido to talk to him.....
  21. I've got the same problem with my '83. Sounds like so much garbage at highway speeds. When you find a good set of helmet speakers that don't cost an arm and a leg let me know.
  22. As far as wrenching yourself, I watched Rich99 do his clutch last summer and it's pretty straight forward. The only thing that gave us a bit of a problem was the exhaust header getting in the way of removing the bottom clutch cover allen screws without pulling the intire exhaust off. We found that if you just loosen the exhaust mounting bolts a bit you can get a ball end allen wrench in there and remove the screws. Thought this might help when the time comes...?? Or not???
  23. I gotta admit they do look cool, but I'm wondering if it's worth the PITA to clean one every time I change the oil. Me thinks I'll stick with what I have now and just pitch 'm when changing the oil..... Besides I can buy a ton of paper filters for $149 bucks....
  24. Wish I could say the same thing about my son's XS850. He let it sit for a couple of years and the choke plunger rod in the carb corroded so bad it wouldn't move. He's got the carbs tore apart and we're now looking for a set of 'Parts' carbs to get it running again.
  25. I stopped by the local Walmarts looking for a set of the Platinum Burners and didn't find anything that looked like the all chrome set I picked up off Ebay so kept walking. Then I thought.... maybe they were just out of stock, and did a google search for Walmart Driving Lights. I found this very interesting write up on all driving lights and thought it would be worth passing on. CLICK HERE BTW the set I found on Ebay ran right at $30 bucks to the door.
