  1. I think the touchyness comes from have a 'tackier' compound and reacting to highway imperfections more than a high mile touring tire at higher speeds. Maybe??
  2. VEEERY NICE MIKE......!!!
  3. Had the same thing happen to my first Avon. Mounted on the front it went 'weather check' in less than a 1000 miles. Avon replaced it, and the replacement started to check but not as bad after only a couple of hundred. Avon replaced the replacement and all is good. No checking in over 4000 miles. The two tires that went bad had a DOT code of 2206 and... I think???....2306. The last one is from later in the year. I think Avon had a bad batch of tires mid '06. Even after the problems I still love the ride....
  4. You ain't crazy Jonas, it makes perfect sense to me.
  5. Ed, The only reason I bid on it was because it was NOS, and was looking to put it on the '91. Glad to know that I wasn't the only one that thought it was for the whole unit.... When I looked up the price the cost was about $147 to the dealer in 2002, and figured I'd take a run at it to just below dealer cost, and would have never gone that high if I'd know that the thing was incomplete. But.... as everyone already knows I didn't know and did....
  6. The story is.... I screwed up....big time!! On Ebay I bid on what I thought was a complete NOS CLASS controller, and bid accordingly. When I received it, it turned out to be only the front face and top PC board. The auction title used the term 'controller box', but the discription mentioned 'Face'. When I looked up the part number in my price guide it had several parts priced out in the area, but the most expensive was the part up for auction. So.... thought it was for the complete unit. My bad, it wasn't, and I paid way more than I should have. Another misleading part of the auction was that the seller never took a picture of the backside of the part, just the front, so it was sort of misleading in that respect. Oh well.... live and learn...Nobody said experience was cheap....
  7. That makes more sense. I think the pic gives the wrong impression.
  8. Here's what one would look like with the Voyager Kit installed. http://sacramento.craigslist.org/mcy/639210375.html http://images.craigslist.org/01010801030701160420080411403cf662f18d011a06007ae4.jpghttp://images.craigslist.org/0102050103060116112008041130ae3c985cc16cb17200b15c.jpg
  9. Good question. Quality I'm sure is good, and the price is better, but from what I can see the Canadia adaptor is a 2 piece system, while the Rivco is one piece. I really can't see why the Canadian is 2 parts, unless it has something to do with design patents?? It would seem to me that the lower profile of the Rivco would make it easier to remove a filter from behind the chin fairing??
  10. I was hoping it was, but from the parts page Jonas posted is looks like it's just the face and board. I find it interesting that Yamaha didn't list the complete Class controller as one part number, and then brake it up into subpieces.
  11. I'm sure it is. Bob also stated to me that if you order direct from him, instead of going thru Ebay, there's a $6 savings. And....... if you live a few blocks away I'm sure you'd be able to swing on by and save on the shipping too.
  12. Can someone tell me what this part number is for?? I looked it up in the price manual, but it's not real clear as to what it actually is. Is it the entire CLASS controller, or one of the parts? 31M-W8591-M0-00
  13. In Ca. you can only do it under 15mph, and it's called lane sharing. It doesn't take much to get up to 15mph when traffic is moving. It's a gray area in the Ca MVC. There isn't a statute saying it's illegal. Scares the 'H' out of me. I've never done it and now never will.... Having a hard time getting the image of that guy spinning thru the air like a rag doll........
  14. Exactely.... I California you can split lanes up to 15mph. I was slowing down to make a right hand turn so I was going around 15mph when he split the lane on the right. Then when he past us he excellerated and i think he was looking in his right rear mirror to see if he had room to pull into the right lane. He started to pull into the lane without looking ahead, and hit the car. It was his fault. Inexperience will up and bite you, 'Specially if you think you are...... It's hard getting that picture out of my head....
  15. If you do find the manafolds are the culprit you can spray them with Plasti-Dip from Home Depot. Two of three coats and you won't be able to see the crack.... However... I think I just read some where on the board where they manafolds have a liner that will keep any crack from going all the way thru. I think...
  16. Unfortunately if you had bought it directly from the maker you could have gotten another $6 bucks off... Oh well.....
  17. I yelled, but it didn't do any good...........
  18. I my opinion that was the leading cause for the accident. He couldn't see the car because he was to busy splitting lanes and the driver of the car couldn't see him coming out from behind my truck. Actuall when he excellerated out of the split if he'd have pulled into the LH lane in front of me nothing would have happened, but he pulled into the RH lane and then when he finally noticed the car it was too late and he went farther right instead of going left. Inexperience and testosterone...
  19. Piggy Backer..........
  20. I just witnessd one of the worst MC vs Car accidents I've ever seen. It happened right in front of me. I'm south bound on Fair Oaks blvd in Carmichael, in the LH lane with the left hand turn signal on getting ready pull into the middle lane to turn left onto Kenneth, and a rider on what looked like a middle sized Honda v-twin split the lane to my right between my truck and another car that was in the RH lane. Up ahead a north bound car was in the process of making a left hand turn into some apartments. The rider didn't see the car, and the driver couldn't have seen the rider because of where he was coming from. I sat right there and watched him bury the bike into the left turning car. The rider launched down the street 30-40 feet over the top of the car. Pieces of the bike went everywhere, and then it caught on fire. All that's was left of the bike after the FD arrived and put the fire out was a black lump. It took about 15 minutes for the FD and Amb to arrive and the rider never moved. I thought he was dead, but the EMT did talk to him while he was laying there. The rider had a helmet on, and what looked like a riding jacket but I can't be certain. Whew!!!!

  23. OK, a quick up date on the oil adapter. After crunching the numbers the savings wouldn't have been much better than buying an adapter right off Ebay. The Ebay price is $69.95 + $9.00 shipping. The best I could do with 10 being shipped to me and distributed out of here was $73.50 total. You'd save $6.50. Really not worth it. Sorry to get a few folks stirred up, but we tried...... Here's a copy of the email I received: Jack Thanks anyway, being hand made it's not practical to bring the price down any more. Ebay is ok, and there is built in buyer protection (not that we need it) but many may feel more comfortable that way. Of course they can still save 6 bucks buying direct. bob hagerman And I suppose if you contacted Bob by email at huntech2006@yahoo.ca you could save a few bucks. I'm still working on the brace buy
  24. When syncing the carbs you're supposed to set the idle screw when engine is up to operating temp. I'd think about a carb sync.
  25. My '83 was doing the same thing. Pulled the radio panel and cleaned the connector pulgs. Male and female, and was very careful when putting the panel back in. The problem seems to have gone away.
