  1. I would think that the slots might?? mess with the integrity of the brace. I'm going to take a look at it when I get mine and toy with the idea of punching scuppers.... that's boat talk.... drain holes... into each opening, or hunt around for some of those plastic caps that would fit...??. But then it never rains in California
  2. Not sure what you mean by weep holes Todd??? As far as being like a Super Brace, I think you need to ask is it like all the other braces that are on the market.... but here are the pics. You be the judge. http://i10.ebayimg.com/07/i/000/e4/c5/0c81_1.JPG http://i13.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/e4/c5/155e_1.JPG http://i2.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/e4/c5/b5dd_1.JPG
  3. If the bike had been sitting for 2 years with an empty tank in a hot cold atmosphere it probably will develop rust on the tank walls. The tank 'breathes' during temp changes and will draw in hot humid air when it cools down for the night which collects on the walls and creates rust spots. The next day it heats up and the air will expel leaving the condensation. The next night the whole cycle starts all over again. Not all water in a tank comes from wet fuel. A bigger problem occurs when the tank is full, and the heavier water settles to the bottom of the tank and the bottom of the tank corrodes. Rust particals on the walls will sluff off and if enough gets in the bottom of the tank it can plug filters and even plug carb jets. I ask the dealer to inspect the tank, and if there is a significant amount of rust present to replace the tank under warranty, or his cost if Yamaha won't warranty the problem.
  4. Man I love sailboats!!! 40 gallon diesel tank and 24mpg..... before I put up the sails.. And the wind is still free.....
  5. Here's a couple of pics if they'll help.
  6. A while back I picked up a set of THESE off ebay for spares. Cheap enough....
  7. My gold '83 has a custom tan leather seat made by a local leather guru. Looks great and sits very comfortable. The only thing is I have to treat it just like a horse saddle and use Farnam's Leather New on it about every couple of months. Most folks that have seen it think it looks great....
  8. Shoot.... I walked into a gas station the other day and asked for $5 dollars worth of gas. The attendant farted and gave me a receipt.................
  9. Thanks Rocket.... If anyone is under the impression that you are getting a Super Brace after what had transpired in the closed brace thread, I need to reiterate that this is a fork brace from a different manufacturer. NOT A SUPER BRACE
  10. Yep, I got carried away and replaced all 6 of my bleeders on my '83 with speed bleeders. Don't have any trouble bleeding the brakes, but do have trouble once in a while with the clutch fluid. The air rises faster than fluid can flow down the line. So I usually end up reverse bleeding the clutch. Which ever way you end up going make absolutely sure you get all the air out of the '83's lines. The brakes need all the help they can get....
  11. Yeah, it's tuff. I put mine up for the winter when the temps get below 60......
  12. Hey Dan, Yep, you're on the list. The payment 'how to' is in the first post of this thread.....
  13. I remember years ago when running south of the boarder to buy fuel was commonplace. Out of curiousity I just did a search on Pemex prices, and it looks like it may start again. Updated March 2008 Magna: Aproximately $2.38 Dlls/gallon Premium: Aproximately $ 2.97 Dlls/gallon Diesel: Aproximately $2.01 Dlls/gallon
  14. Bongobobny mentioned something, and I got to thinking.... and that's dangerous. He said he planned on polishing his new brace out to a chrome shine and then sealing it with a couple of coats of clear. The Aluminum Braces regularly come anodized. I'm into low maintenence so the anodized finished is OK by me, but.... if there any others on the list that were thinking along the same lines as Bob, let me know, and I'll have yours held out of the anodizing process and delivered in a natural finish.
  15. For all those interested in picking up an Odyssey Battery for your scoot, the last day I'll be taking payments will be the 29th of this month. So, if you are interested, you need to get to me. This years group buy has been a bit slow, so once it's closed, it'll be another year before we think about starting another one..... For those that have been waiting patiently, many thanks. Time is getting short.....
  16. A whole new underground industry... Black market wind and sun.... Pssst... Wanna buy some wind?
  17. Were's that BP station!! I'm paying $4.25 per gallon for Diesel and over $4 for reg. There are a couple of areas that Diesel is up to $4.50. Fill'r Up at $100+ bucks is getting old fast on the truck. $75 bucks in the Suburban get's it half a tank..... OK.. 40gal tank.... Noticed that used sailboat sails sales have been picking up. At least the wind is free...
  18. Yep, I like that........
  19. A couple of times when syncing, I've set the idle on #2 at 1000 rpm and then did the sync dance. When balancing L to R the idle would increase a bunch. Reset the idle back down to 1000 on #2 and re-sync'd. No problem with idle after that. I think... what's happening is the first time the idle was set the off side carbs were actually controlling the idle even though the screw is on #2, because they were set tight. When I balanced 1&3 to 2&4 it open the 1&3 butteflies up even more and the idle increased.....maybe???? Since then I generally back off the 1-3 screws about a half turn and I can't remember having problems any longer..... or maybe I'm just lucky...
  20. Just about everything your looking for is available on Ebay. Not all at once, but give it some time and you'll find it.... and a lot cheaper. Just be picky about condition...
  21. Thanks Jeff. I think we've pretty much got the price down as low as possible and still let the manufacturer make a profit.... Nice thought tho-.....
  22. Wish I were closer. There'd be at least 3 of us checking it out. That is cool.....
  23. Hey, it's your opiniion. I think folks are a lot smarter than you give them credit, and I'm not moving, unless you feel I don't have a right to be here.....
  24. A few years back....OK many.... Texas based insurance companies were not controlled very well, and unless things have changed anyone who wanted to start an insurance company could do so with very little in assets to pay claims. Be it life, health, or auto. They just started selling policies and collecting premiums, and if losses became too great they folded without recourse, and the insureds were left holding the bag. A big reason why premiums were less compared to non-Texas based companies. This may have changed over the years, but one of the reasons I shy away from Texas insurance carriers. My 2¢
  25. Wow!! At first I thought you were getting religious on us......
