I'd really be interested in the manufacturing date on the battery??? Also was it a standard or metal jacket??

For all you 1stGen owners that are planning...or thinking about going the aftermarket route, I'll be starting a MAC Muffler group buy in a couple of weeks. We've done this a couple of times in the past, and it's been a good experience for everyone.

Hey Cliff, I totally understand, and don't blame you a bit. I'll get your refund on it's way.

Fork Oil - Level or Quantity
Condor replied to Squeeze's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Squeeze. I thought I might toss in a couple of comments, good or bad, just because. When putting 409ml in the fork tube and not getting anywhere near the 5.5" perhaps it's because it's not really needed. I don't know about the other bikes, but with the class system or 2ndGen manual pressure system, pressures applied to the air chamber may limit compression, and rebound and dampening might be more of an issue. And the larger air chamber might be done to give a greater amount of adjustment to fork air pressures. Just my warped thinking kicking in?????? -
That's why I suspect that manufacturing might be running into problems. Or they have a very large military contract to fill??? At first it was May, and now everyone's quoting June... I found this website while googling AGM Battery, and they have several AGM batteries listed in different price ranges. The PC680 Odyssey's shipping weight is 17.5 pounds. There are a couple of AGM's in the Odyssey price range that weigh right at 17#. I'm wondering if they might be similar in design. Anyway for those of you that REALLY need to replace your batt it might be an alternative. PowerSportBattery

Class system woes
Condor replied to Burninator's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Yeah that^^. The class would give you a reading until you tell it what to read... -
Yep it's the same one Cindy. $104 vs $117 to the door. Just make sure they have them in stock. I'm wondering if there's something going on with manufacturing?? Ebay usually has quite a few listed, but at least on the PC680, there hasn't been a thing lately. I totally understand about the time element. I'll go ahead and refund your paypal payment. Very sorry... I sent off my bad PC680MJ this morning, and we see what happens. I'll tell 'm I used it as a back up for my computor, and was always kept on a battery maintainer...

Doing good Eck... for an OF... I guess it might be prudent to check out the WOOT comments on the thing. Also a Google would probably help. I personally wouldn't buy one until I knew for sure......

There are a couple of members who have one JB. I put out the same request about 2 months ago and had several members reply. I never took them up on their offers, because I decided to weld what I had back up.

To get a better pic with strong background light force the flash on the camera. There's no need to get the bike in the sunlight. Just turn the flash on full time.

Fork Brace List
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just trying to keep everybody in the loop. The manufacturer is planning on a completion date of May 3rd for the braces. So we should be looking at an arrival date here sometime the following week. Then I'll start to get them packed and shipped. I'll probably be the weak link in the whole shipping process trying to get 50 braces packed up, labled, and out the door, so hang in there. The wheels of progress are turning.... -
Interesting pics. Deltarat came over about a month ago to fix his sidestand. It failed in the bank parking lot. After looking at it we found the thru bolt had snapped off. I had a spare and when he tried to screw it in it wouldn't start. Pulled the stand off and found the yoke had bent... not broke just bent. We put another stand on and he was good to go. Latter on I put the bad stand in the vice squashed it back into position. No cracks anywhere. Deltarat has an '89 and I'm wondering if Yamaha got away from the cast iron in the early models, and went investment in the later years??

Dave... Here's a pic of how it goes on. Once you have it on you can see how it works..

Presently I have 7 on the list and paid for. Rich-99 would be #8. However, I need to be up front with those folks already on the list and have paid via paypal, and at least fill them in on what's been going on in the last couple of days. #1 I had reason to call Odyssey on a warantee issue. My battery (PC680MJ) developed a dead cell. The manufacture date was in Aug'05. So I called them and was told that if used it in a power sport application it was out of warantee, and they would not cover it. I tried to explain that the warantee starts from the time of purchase from a dealer at the time of sale, and it could have set on a dealers shelf for a year or more making it fall under the 2 year warantee limit. They were pretty firm about not dealing with it. Did I want a replacement? Sure. So, I'm sending it back to them with an invoice dated Aug '06, and see what happens. It's not doing me any good. #2 If this is what we can expect from them when it comes to customer good will, I'm not sure I want to deal with them any longer. They love our group buys, but after market service shows some lacking. #3 I have also been telling every one that Odysseys are the best thing since sliced bread, and I belived it, but that thinking has been shaken. #4 After telling me that they would be getting a shipment of 680's and 545's the first of May, they are now saying it will now be sometime in June. So.... I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm getting ticked off. Rest assured that anyone that has paid, your payment is safe, and will be refunded if I can't resolve some of these issues, or I can refund them right away if everybody wants...... I also want to appologize for misleading folks. Questions?

Yep,they're Markland....

Fork Brace List
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
This the final call for those on the list that haven't yet sent their money in. If you still want to get a brace you need to send the payment in now. Some of you may have changed your mind, and that's OK, just let me know. Also there are a few on the list that I'm unable to contact. If I don't hear from you by friday evening, I'll have to consider you're no longer interested. Sorry. For those that have sent in their payments, please go to the first post and check your name. Make sure you are marked as paid, and you have the correct finish marked. If I've made a mistake.... yeah it happens..... let me know. I'll be giving the manufacturer the final results on Saturday morning. ~Condor~ -
Our whole economy is dependant on dino fuel. The oil producing nations have got us right where they want us, and haven't fired a shot... We should have gone after the middle east nations when, after tons of money was spent developing the oil industry in ME countries, they kicked the oil companies out, and took over all the assets without a kiss my patoot.... And we folded like a wet blanket.

There are two different floorboards available used. Markland and Venture Line. IMHO the Venture lines are a lot better looking and have the same board configuration as the venture line passenger boards that are so common. The board on the VL is triangular in shape and the Marklands are more oval. Plus I'm not sure Markland made heel/toe/brake pedals??

Fork Brace List
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It is a good looking brace. I'm no engineer, but I would think that the position of the notch up against the fork would hinder water drainage, and the pricipal of a thicker brace is to prevent flexing and have the front forks respond in unison, and from the looks of the size of the notches in the screw areas it might make the walls weaker and allow flexing..... I think???? I'm gonna look for some plugs. -
He should have told you that in the begining instead of learning about it here.....

What is this plug??
Condor replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Brad, I just checked that area on the '93 and the only thing that I could find with a blk/brn 2 lead wire is for the left hand speaker.....??
