The last time I heard, Steve (hdhtr) used GTX 20-50 in his '90 for the last 165,000 miles. Pretty good testimony. If I remember correctly GTX was formulated for small high reving engines. Hmmmm, I wonder what our V-4's are??? I'd stick with the GTX. After 21 years, anything else may cause it to go blind...... Go buy 4 qt's at you local auto parts emporium and have the dealer put it in.

Being out sniped doesn't bother me. It was just worth more to the other bidder. 'Nother thing.... Maybe it's only me, but I hate being refered to as the winning bidder. I didn't win a dang thing, I just bought something..... When I win something it better be free..............

Fork Brace List
Condor replied to Condor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just to keep everyone in the loop, I traded email with the manufacturer and the braces are off to be anodized this morning. Things are moving right along... -
Yep, it's the season. Everytime someone...hess4less in this case.... parts out a complete bike and gets big bucks for a lot of the parts, the other sellers come out of the woodwork and jump in. Which is a good thing for the buyer because the prices will start to drop again. It's just a supply and demand thing.... Be patient grasshopper.....

Getting a battery anytime soon thru the group buy isn't very like Slawek. MOF since I've already refunded two of the paypals I don't think we'll be able to make the minimum 10 required, and am seriously considering canceling the buy. If you'd like a refund, I can do that, and wouldn't be disappointed. Just let me know.

That was a good one Mike, we all needed a good laugh, and you're saying he only uses one gun for both his target shooting and fast draw demo's.... Jeeze!!!

I'd look around and find someone with one of those fiber optic inspection cameras to take a look at the bottom of the tank, and I've never removed one, but I think there has been a few posts to that regard. The carbs can be removed by taking off the side covers, middle cover, and air cleaner. They will come out the left side without detaching the throttle linkage. After they're out you can deal with the linkage. It's not a time consuming job. The tach issue?? If I remember correctly the pulse is triggered the #2 cylinder firing. I know that's not an answer, but it could be a place to start if #2 isn't firing at low RPM. It's also interesting the the tach kicks in above 2000rpm...the same RPM the stator starts charging??? Coincidence?? And maybe your tach needle is sticking??? Just some thoughts.

OK if you want to split hairs you did say normal, but...you failed to add the term customized... The intent did read more like you were refering to a normal 'out of the box' gun, trying to maximize effort and down play equipment contribution. All you have to do is modify the pawl, and the cylinder rachet to get it to advance to the next cylinder, and indexing isn't a super critical issue because he's shooting blanks and the ballons broken at close range by the muzzle blast. :rasberry:

I met Bob back in the early 70's while working for a national gun manufacturer. The gun is far from normal. The torque on the hammer spring is a bunch, and it only has to be barely pulled back from the fireing pin to have enough force to set off the primer. The moving parts are highly finished to reduce any possible drag. His early model Colts came with a modified half hook hammer for fanning purposes, but the gun used in the clip looked like it had an extended hammer tang instead of the side curl. I had a chance to do a face off with him, with a redlight greenlight signal, and my gun already cocked. I lost of course.... :-) He could draw, fire, and holster quicker than a normal hammer could fall. It was and still is an awesome demontration of speed and reflexes....

So....... does that mean a heel/toe shifter is out of the question, or you're not going to be able to stop... Hope everything works for the good Bob....

Trunk LED project

Sounds like you've plugged up your jets on in the carb with crud. They need to be cleaned. And clean out the tank as well, or it'll happen again. Don't ask me how I know that......

Unless I end up messin' something else up again, I'll be there Saturday. The plan is to keep going on Sunday up into Idaho for my grandsons wedding the following Saturday....

An '86 will not fit on an 8' trailer with a ramp gate. Generally folks buy or rent a 5'x10' to trailer the scoot.

Thanks for looking Stu. The date tag is on the top of the battery and it has the serial number and right under that a 4 digit number. 1007 would be the month and year. Now my question is if the dealer quoted you 10/09 then he's going off the manufaturing date for warantee purposes....not when the battery was put into service. Traditionally battery warantees are from the sold date, or when they are put into service, and on your's, 2 years should have been 'til April 2010. Heck, a battery could go out of warantee sitting on the shelf if they consider the manufacturing date as the start of warantee. I wonder if that's why the distributor was stonewalling me on the date??? Not a good situation....

Nah.... That was an easy listening jazz station on the radio. Baffles sound like heavy metal.... Left the radio on when recording, and the auto volume level kicked in when I rev'd it up. Sounded more realistic that way .....

I couldn't find the file here on the board, so I'll try to up load it again. And I'd really like to hear what the Jardines sound like if anyone has something they can post???
