  1. Ain't that the truth....... :rotf:
  2. What I imagine is the boss sitting in the clutch housing with everything else removed. Is the transmission in neutral? If it is, put it into first and see if the boss still moves. If it does, you'll need to pull the boss and inspect the drive and driven gears on the backside for wear. Hope this helps.
  3. I just ran shipping and it did run more than expected, but still less, and...... Parcel post was only $27 bucks. For $50 bucks I could wait.... The point I'm trying to make here, without wallowing around in comparisons, is that $85 to ship a 3 pound fairing across the country is way too much.
  4. Hard to believe that a guitar woiuld cost $90 bucks shipped to the midwest from Sacramento. I ship 25-35 pound sails from here to the east coast for around $65 bucks. I don't think insurance cost is an issue. Some of these sails run $1500-$1800.
  5. And mine's showing $80.35 Way more than it should... There are two links. The editor put them together when I posted. Maybe you're looking at the fairing that's bid up to $195...
  6. I think posting these out of wack Ebay auctions just demonstrate how ignorant a few Ebay buyers and sellers actually are. FAIRING SHIPPING
  7. I usually get the long rod and the ball out when the slave is removed, but.... I've been thinking.... they make a narrow tipped magnetic nut retreiver about the size of an eraser head that should work at getting the ball and long rod out from basket side. The rod and ball are steel and the engine casing is non-magnetic aluminum. I've never tried it yet, but fishing it out with the retreiver might work.??? On the rotation issue, we could use a little more info. Is everything buttoned up and ready to go or is the pressure plate still off??? Or???
  8. $61.50 to a US address. $71.00 to Canada
  9. Firebirdames just pulled his bike out of the microwave defrost cycle up in Calgary, and found that he already has a brace on it, :doh:so... if someone else would like to pick up the one he ordered he'd be very greatfull. Anybody??? My hands are tied as the braces are back from the anodizer and ready to be shipped, and I just fired off the payment this morning.
  10. To answer your last question, no they're not the same.....but they will interchange. The earlier models have a narrower passenger seat. The later models have a passenger flair that almost matches the configuration of the riders. I don't see why a good apholstery shop would'nt have a type of foam that would bring your present seat up to something you could live with. I think they just don't want to get involved. Most of the seats I've seen on Ebay lately are a mess and would need to be repaired or recovered. I picked up two seats in mint condition off Ebay for around $65 bucks. Be patient and keep looking.
  11. When it comes to finding an Odyssey, your guess is as good as mine. There was a posts in this thread where someone found a place that had a number of them in stock. And I posted a website that carried a sellection of AGM's that would work in the Venture. http://www.ebatteriestogo.com/landing_pages/powersport/YTX24HL-BS.htm Supply is one of the reasons I decided to close the group buy down.
  12. The last time I got into the phragms was 2 years ago before VWIII. They were perfect then. I don't think they would have gone bad since then, but I'll check. I think there's a smaller diaphragm that keeps the r's from dropping too quickly and prevents backfiring?? Although I'm not getting the back fire I wonder if one or two of those could be bad?????
  13. Because of all the hastles with the Odyssey I've made an administrative descision to cancel the group buy. All who have sent in their paypal will be getting their refunds shortly. Group Buy CANCELED.............
  14. Lately I've been noticing sort of a glitch in the throttle when slowly cruising in low gears... 1st or 2nd..., without a load on the motor. The throttle is either on or off, and it makes it kinda tuff to maintain a steady speed. As long as I keep a load on the motor in say 3rd or 4th it responds fine, except the R's are way down. When in the lower gears if I let off on the throttle just a bit it's like I've rolled it completely off. It's getting herky jerky in street traffic.... The bike idles fine, and excellerates fine, and seems to have plenty of power, but the H&J is getting to be anoying. Out on the highway it seems to work fine at say 4200 in 5th. I also noticed a big drop in my fuel milage. Got 50+ during the ride to VWIII, but 38mpg to Fort Collins and up to now.. Any thoughts????
  15. I seriously doubt if Ride-On caused any damage to the valve stem seat surface. Otherwise we'd have a lot of distroyed wheels on our hands. The pit may have been there all along and if the stem were tightened properly, when the tire was installed, it wouldn't have leaked. These rims are a casting and occasionally tiny bubbles... sounds like a song... are formed when the wheel is poured. The pit may have been one of those air pockets that made it through inspection.
  16. Everyone seems to have decided to call this thing a breather, but after looking at the pics, it looks to be more of Yamaha's attempt at an oil cooler/heat exchanger of some sort. Either to warm the oil up during cold riding, or bringing the oil temp down when engine oil gets hot. More of an equalizer. It just don't breath.....
  17. I'm ready anytime you are Don. Just tell me when to paypal. On the 15min log off issue. I use the 'new post' feature a lot, and I sometimes get pulled away from the computor for other things, when I get back to reading the posts I'll loose a lot of the listings because I've been recycled..... If there were some way to keep the list active without increasing the log in time, it would work for me.
  18. Here's a copy of the text in my first post plus an add on for the choke cable. To remove the cables adjust the freeplay up at the grip to max and then the cable cover end should be loose enough to coax it out thru the slot in the cup mounted on the assembly. The choke cable is pretty straight forward. Undo the keeper and remove.
  19. The carbs are held on the manafolds with hose clamps. Loosen the clamps up and sorta work... twist and turn and lift gently... the carbs out. They will come out the left side with the throttle cables attached, and the cables will support the weight of the assembly if you need to scratch your nose. To remove the cables adjust the freeplay up at the grip to max and then the cable cover end should be loose enough to coax it out thru the slot in the cup mounted on the assembly. As far as the choke setting, my '83 starts much the same. Very little choke. Will not start with full choke. It seems like every bike has it's own choke personality. I own 4 and every one is different. The only one that seems to act 'normal' is the '91. And yes, plugs will foul easily when the flooded.
  20. Found this posted on a Wing board. It came from Black Tie Accessories (440) 988-7233 Total Cost was $164.95 including shipping. $130.00 for the swivel $20.00 for the coupler $5.00 for the shims $9.95 Shipping Seems pretty steep. I picked up a swivel hitch from http://www.neoshotrailers.com/options.html scroll to the bottom of the page.

    Vin Number

WOW!!!!!! There'll never be another post about who has the oldest... You need to get one of those vanity plates "FIRST VR", or "1ST VR". I noticed in Dan's post that he has an '84 #1262 built 10/83. My '83 is #3089 built 3/83. Doesn't make sense in the whole VIN# scheme of things.
  22. Another thing came to mind on the trailer for $2500. Is it a single axel or tandem. If it's a single it might be a bit high. Mine is a 7,000GVW tandem. Around here singles go for $1700-$2000, and shouldn't be any different in your area. Morro Bay.... sounds like we got a winner....
  23. What you could do Brian is park your trailer in my back yard here in Sacramento, and then ride with us down to Morro Bay Thursday morning. If Dan makes it we should have around 4 or 5 leaving out of here, and meeting up with Lone Eagle and Rich-99 south of Stockton on I-5. Stop for lunch and visit Corbin Seats in Holister before heading down Hwy101 to Morro Bay. About 300 miles total. Nice easy day ride. You could also ride back with us on Sunday. Hey, it's an option...
  24. Only if you run a brick wall thru it.......
  25. Missing??? I just noticed a bunch more imo-cons in my custom tray. 'Specially that big ol' cotton pickin' hugs icon that takes up half a page. It's going as soon I can get to it.... OK...tried to get it gone. Can't. Not happy............
