  1. I wouldn't mess with cutting a hole in the cover. Attached is a pic of daveg90's VR and it has a V-Boost sitting under the hood. I bet if you contacted him he'd supply you with pics and some friendly advice on how to shoehorn the whole setup in there. If remember correctly he has a switch that allows him to switch the Boost on and off..... BTW his VR is one of the cleanest I've ever seen...
  2. You can get everything you need from a NAPA store, or..... if you're lazy like me order a set off Ebay. I can't remember the part numbers for the caps, but I'm sure someone will chime in here with the info. OK, I lied. I saved the info. 1 BP426-480-204 Dynatek 7MM Ignition Wires 2 BP426-440-022 NGK Resistor Spark Plug Covers, straight 2 BP426-440-072 NGK Resistor Spark Plug Covers, 120 degree long elbow 4 Iridium plugs NGK DPR8EIX-9 (these are good ones - worth a couple bucks extra) You cna use standard NGK's and savew some bucks....

    Speed

Maybe it's time we invest in our own dedicated server.... I noticed a couple of slow loads this AM, and a couple of my smaller fav emo-cons had to be brought up with 'show pic'. Sometimes it's fast, and other times it's slow. No consistency.... I wonder if it's the current servers dedicated line???
  5. If 3 guys can lift an 800# scoot into a pickup bed, I wouldn't want to mess with them either...
  6. I never lock up the scoot. I just put a cover over it, try to park it as close to the motel room as possible, and have never lost any sleep.......
  7. Brian my statement was directed more toward the private consumer, to which we as bike riders belong, than towards a commercial application. A smaller station isn't going to pump anywhere near those kinds of numbers, and for the most part the fuel will cool to a static temp over a few days. So yes, the statement does have creditability when dealing with the private user. Let's forget about those times when we all need to fill up out on the highway. When traveling and you need fuel, you buy it, no matter whether it's from a high volume station, the time of day, or the temperature. Now on the other hand, try to buy your gas in the winter right after a tanker drops their load. Then you'll be getting more fuel because the gallon is colder and the reverse is true. But I don't see anyone jumping up and complaining about the 'cold' gallon.....
  8. Interesting artical, but... lemme jump in here and play devils advocate a minute. The fuel is pumped out of underground tanks that probably maintain a fairly constant temperature year round. So folks are suing big oil because of what? That the gas expands when it warms up and doesn't deliver as much energy per gallon?? In my thinking it probably does expand, but.... it also increases in volume, ergo more gallons. The energy, whether it's contained in a cold gallon, or in a hot gallon, remains constant. Folks that pump fuel in the AM's because they think they're getting more bang for their buck, aren't, as long as the fuel temp in the underground tanks remains the same throughout the day. The volume of fuel that the vehicle tank might hold might be more in the AM's, but the energy payload stays the same as the gas warms up and expands during the day or contracts at night. I guess it would be more accurate to describe the fuel fill up, not in gallons, but in BTU's. The fuel delivery system of the vehicle doesn't give a darn what the temp is, it just delivers what's needed to maintain a the speed required by the operator, and that's controlled by the gas pedal. Low energy gallon = more pedal. High energy gallon = less pedal. I think these hot gallon law suits are another 'pie in the sky' effort contrived by some class action lawyer's get rich scheme....
  9. Years ago when I had my '87 F250 Diesel I was putting a ton of miles on it per year. I knew exactly how much fuel it took at 200 miles. Always 13 to 13.3 gallons at all the major truck stops. When I needed to tank up locally I'd go to a station that had a decent price and was close by. I noticed that the truck started taking 15.2 to 15.6 gallons. MOF one time I really ran the main tank down and it took more fuel than the tank held. 22 gallons in a 19 gallon tank. I told the owner he was pouring short gallons, and to get the pump re calibrated. Didn't happen. Called the Dept of Weights and Measures and reported the problem. Amazingly.... the next time I stopped in the tank took 13.2 gallons at 200 miles..... These newer pumps can be manipulated to pour short after being accurate for the first 5 gallons. There was a big flap about it locally a few years back. The inspector would check the first one or two gallons out of the pump and everything checked out OK. The pump got it's sticker, and kept right on sticking it to everyone.
  10. Just my 2¢, for what it's worth. I believe the time limitation is when you need to start some sort of legal action, or the insurance company settles the claim. Once legal action is started it could drag on for years. This will cost the insurance company more than it will you. You might even think about small claims court. I don't know if it'll count, but it is a legal action. If you do win a judgement you can hound the guy until the amount is satisfied. Attach his wages, bank accounts, property, etc. Might be something to look into with a lawyer??? I can't believe that you're only $4K apart and they won't budge. Maybe instead of butting heads you might consider a little less??? Just a thought???? You might also ask the insurance company if an Arbitor could settle your differences.
  11. Here a couple of pics, and a sound bite.
  12. That's for the pair Greg. I just did a quicky calculation, and the shipping should be right around $100US +/- via USPS International Priority. So the total would be aproximately $300US.
  13. Hi Jim, Lots of things have been going on, and we tried to let you know the haps, but you have your CP preferences checked to not receive email from any board member. This coupled with infrequent visits, and it's tough keeping you informed. I don't think there'll be anyone backing out, but if they decide that they don't want theirs, I'll let them post it in the classifieds.
  14. Oh... I thought we were playing with hand grenades.....

  20. 43......
  21. Is that from the left... or the right.
  22. I've always been a bit confused as to how to figure out the model year from the 1stGens VIN number. I've read all about it, but it didn't make sense. For all those that are in the dark like me, here it is. The last 6 digits are the serial number. The 2 letters before them designate the year. Actually you could drop the 'A' and still be in the know.... DA= 83 EA= 84 FA= 85 GA= 86 HA= 87 I.... skipped. Looks too much like a one JA= 88 KA= 89 LA= 90 MA= 91 NA= 92 O.... skipped. Looks too much like a zero PA= 93
  23. I think it's the 30mm that I used. Glad to know the magnet worked..... I'll try it the next time around... Remember when you go to put the rods and ball back in, the rods have one end that is slightly flattened. That end goes against the ball.....
