  1. I remember when I was twice as old as he was, but now days percentage wise he's getting a lot closer... He was always a hot rodder, and several years ago he built this 65 Ford Fairlane into a street rod. Ran it a lot down in Pomona Raceway. He finally ran out of steam and sold it. And found it again. Here's a youtube of the car, and if you'll notice they ain't speaking english... It's amazing, but the thing ended up in Sweden... Yah... And yes it his car. The decals in the rear passenger window are the dead give away.
  2. Ditto on the Red Robbin, but.... we have a local joint called the Flaming Grill that beats them all. Best Sirloin Burger with Cheddar and seasoned fries on the planet. Being a cheap SOB I don't want to waste the gas on the bbq with a burger. A 1" thick Rib Eye is the only way to go... :-) Yes, ditto on the home cooked too....
  3. You forgot all the prep time, the fries, the drink... plus the bigger paddy.... And the cooking, and clean up... Good luck on buying your next bike.... I'll stick to the Whoppers.....
  4. But who cares. That's like comparing apples and oranges... Make your own burger and fries and see what it come out to... OK Olive Garden for lunch. All the great minestrone soup and awesome salad you can eat... $8.99 Yumm!!
  5. I need to know how to get the kids out of the house to begin with... They keep coming back... :-)
  6. What you said kinda proves my point. Daily living expenses are taking their tool on any leftover cash. You can complain about the prices, but wait a while and you'll think they are the good ol' days. And going into cc dept for a weeks stay anywhere is not expendable cash... Sometimes it's cheaper to eat out then eat in. Anytime you can get away with $5 bucks per person you're doing good. Two Whoppers for $6... And there isn't any preparation, energy consumed to cook, or dishes to wash. Chinese, Mexican, Italian Pizza, what else is there?? :-)

They've probably heard that 1000's of times, but every once in a while they find one.... Since it's been going around on CL for as long as I can remember they must get more than a few. I used to report them to CL, but I don't know if we can do that anymore???
  8. Gotta agree Jeff. Originally the bike was a play toy, then it became a necessity, and now since people are getting used to paying today's gas prices, it's become a want again... not a need. Same things happened in the boating industry with both sail and powerboat gas guzzlers. They were an affordable leisure time activity. Then due to the gas prices the powerboats started sitting. No one could afford 2-3 mpg... Then the sailboat became the fair haired child to prolong the inevitable, and became one way folks could stay on the water. Then slip fees, maintenance, travel to and from the boat started taking their toll and in general boats became white elephants. All because folks have little expendable cash. It's all going to keep a roof over their heads.. IMHO.

But then they spent their time on this.... http://www.foxnews.com/auto/2017/10/25/yamaha-designed-pickup-truck-for-motorcycle-owners.html
  10. I understand Dan. I hate it too. Lost my youngest son 15 years ago due to the crap. He was a user murdered in a drug deal gone bad. He was a great kid until someone got him to take a puff on a joint. It was all down hill after that. I spent a ton of money in rehabs and once he was clean he was great again for about 2 months and then back into it. I learned there's not a damn thing we can do for them. They have to make that decision themselves.. And most importantly...it ain't our fault. It does effect the family. Mine also had 5 kids. We... and now I... are raising two of the granddaughters. One from the time she was 3 months old, and the other since she turned 4. They're now 19 and 22 respectively, and they're still living at home... Damn Economy!! Not as easy getting out on their own like it was when we were kids.... DAMN I HATE THAT CRAP!!!
  11. Double the stopping power.....
  12. Take a trip over to Cycle Gear and pick up one of there XL all weather bike covers. The best bang for the buck I've found. The nice thing is they have a 5 year warantee... or at least used to.... I picked up 5 over time just because of the warantee... I have a few bikes.... The other nice thing is they cost me $50 bucks each on sale. I think the've bumped it up to $60 lately, but it's still a heck of a deal.... The XL fits the 2Gen like a glove. The TD might take a Large, but bigger is better... :-) CYCLE GEAR COVER
  13. That's why I suggested to go to the clutch first. If the problem goes away when the engine is cool and the fluid has contracted it's probably the expansion relief hole at the bottom of the reserve being plugged. With it plugged the fluid has no where to go and will start to power the slave just like pulling on the clutch lever and the clutch will start to slip, eventually disappearing. It's most susceptible when in high gear on the freeway. Folks forget the slave is sitting on the aluminum engine block and will heat the fluid..then the clutch will disengage, and it acts just like the drive train disappeared... Don't ask me how I know this.. The cause was a plugged expansion hole, resulting in a complete clutch rebuild... Master..slave..plates..etc. Why because I got a lot of help and suggestions from the members, just not the right ones. I discovered the expansion hole on the second frustration tear down of the master. I originally assumed what looked like a hole at the base of the reserve next to the larger one that went through to the piston was a mistake. Then I noticed a very small micro-hole at the bottom that had junk in it. Took a needle and cleared the hole, put it all back together and it solved all my problems. So for the want of a clear expansion hole it probably cost me a couple hundred bucks in parts and kits that I didn't need to spend. But I got a great education on the inner workings of the Venture clutch. Old fluid will crystallize and eventually plug that damn hole. That's the reason that Yamaha recommends bleeding the clutch every two years, and only filling the reserve half full so the expanded fluid has a place to go. Anyone buying an older bike that's been sitting for years, it's not just changing the motor oil, final, and dealing with old gas, but bleeding the clutch too. IMHO.... 2¢ and a Paul Harvey Moment... :-)
  14. First off see if the problem still exists when the engine is cold. If it went away bleed the clutch. If it's still there start by removing the final and start working toward the middle gear housing.... You'll find it. Good Luck....
  15. You got that right... :-) Although since my wife pasted 5 years ago I only have to answer to my conscience sitting on my shoulders...
  16. Actually they're available all over the place since Cowboy shooting became popular. Since I like to have ammo for ever caliber I own I just picked up 44-40,38-40, and 32-20 from MidwayUSA. And in each caliber was stocked in several different flavors. Even the 32-20.... Cabella's had them too...
  17. I just bought these at an local auction. I'm not much of a handgun guy, but after the last go-around it looks like I may be changing... Here are some pics. The thing that's special about the Rugers is that they are 2 NIB matched sets of Buckeye Combo Specials in 32--20 and 38-40. I bought the first Ruger Blackhawk 32-20 in the first auction, and then when looking at the pics of the second auction it was WHOA!! time. That and one of the guns had a serial number very close to the first Ruger. Did some research and discovered the story behind the Buckeyes. So I did some playing around and trading with another bidder and ended up with all four Rugers. The deal with the Buckeyes is Ruger made a special run for a distributor in Ohio, and they made 'same' serial number sets available to their customers if they were so inclined. These are new in the box and pretty rare. The last one is a Colt Trooper III. I have the Trooper II and figured why not?? It's also new in the box. So into the safe they go... :-) So since I traded off a Vaquero 44-40 to complete the 2 sets, and I ran across this Colt Bisley 44-40 listed in an auction in Ohio, so I figured again.... It's from the same era as my 1874 Sharps 45-70, Same case hardened frame and receiver, and even though they aren't the same caliber they do make a great period set... Now I need to crawl into a corner with some bread and water for a few months until I can afford something better to eat...
  18. I'm jealous....
  19. i consider gravel the same as I do cracks in the sidewalk. I don't step on cracks and I don't ride on gravel. I hate gravel. Even when I use the engine gyro and crawl it scares the 'P' water out of me. Did I mention I hate gravel....
  20. I cut my teeth on de-linked brakes as well, in the late 50's with an Ariel Square 4. I really can't remember if the thing had braking on the front?? But... it was drum on the rear. Ok just did a memory refresher and it had drum on the front too. The front handled the bulk of the braking chores, with the back usually being applied right at the finish of a stop. I never stood on the pedal. Heck when I needed to stop quickly the lever was the first thing I put a death grip on. When I figured I was gonna live my educated left foot applied the rear....gently. Yes I said left, don't think I made a mistake...again...:-0 On the Ariel square 4 the brake pedal was on the left side, and the trany pedal was on the right... :-) See those Brits were goofy footed even way back then. Fast forward to 1983 and I still ride the same way. Even with the first Gen linked brakes. Although I have swapped foot positions.. I did improve the anemic front braking with a fork swap, Progressives and R1's on the '83, but even then and to this day I still ride the same way. I can carve twistys with the best of them, and rarely use the brakes. And linked or de-linked don't make much of a difference, if any??... IMHO
  21. What a great video.... agin!! However Professor Puc... I have one question. Why isn't there a metering valve for the right brake?? Here's my spin on this confusing little gizmo. It's not a pressure thing-a-bob but a timing/pressure device. I think I read somewhere that the rear do-hicky controls the pressure to both the front and back in a 30%/70% ratio. 30 being applied to both brakes up to 30 and then when you stand on the pedal it allows the 70% to apply to the left front like in a panic stop. So what the metering device will do is slow the flow... in a timely manner... i.e. the applied pressure. IMVHO I do want to apologize about being dense on the MV. I've never had a need to get into that area to bleed the rear brakes. I installed Speed Bleeders on all my 1Gens from the git-go and when bleeding I just make sure the reserve doesn't run dry and hand pump the pedal like the energizer bunny.... I bleed the left front first and then the rear. Works every time. Thanks for the midnight video. Takes a special guy to wander around in a Venture graveyard at night..... Halloween's coming,,,
  22. I picked up one of those out of an electronic 'returns' auction. When you buy any of this stuff there's no guarantee it works... Sorta buyer beware.. I took the gamble because it was dirt cheap and they had a bunch of them and this one looked new in the box.. I charged the battery, and it records OK, but that's as far as I've gotten. Haven't even tried to up load anything. Although the zoom in and out buttons on the side seem to be critical to how the body is aligned in the case. Mine also came with two backs. One for waterproofing, and the other to allow better audio. Sounds like your audio and video are out of sync, like the audio is stuck in slo-mo. On mine there's a ton of menus and sub-menus. Maybe?? you have something turned on or off somewhere??
  23. I just did a google search on it and found a bunch of info. [h=3]How to Fix VCRUNTIME140.dll is Missing Error on Windows?[/h]https://ugetfix.com/ask/how-to-fix-vcruntime140-dll-is-missing-error-on-windows/
  24. I was going by the picture you posted with them already out.... I guess the question didn't match the description and I picked up on the wrong one....
